A splinter of the Tohaa forces remaining in the Human Sphere after the closure of the Daedalus Gate inserted into the Raveneye Bow after reconnaissance from Jaan Staar indicated an opportunity to capture an object of interest from PanOceania.

The objective was simple: to activate several consoles in order to disable the security protections on a heavily guarded beacon, then escape with it intact. Unfortunately, PanOceania command became aware of the attempt and responded in force, with advances in technology since contact with the Trinomial was lost.

Jaan Staar and a forward igao unit were able to establish position before oversized PanOceania units carrying improbably large weapons moved onto the field, but Tohaa had the initiative.

Immediately, a sukiel on a rooftop let loose a missile which knocked one of the fusileers carrying a similar weapon unconscious — an auspicious start, though less damage than expected from a missile against a fleshbag.

Jaan moved to get behind one of the boyg, which was carrying a missile launcher and pinning down much of the Tohaa forces, without blowing her cover, but was unmasked. She let loose with her viral pistol several times, but to no effect against this new variant of armor. The taquel commanding the forces instructed the makaul nearby to throw eclipse so Neema and her cohort could move up the field, and a diplomat on the other side moved to activate one of the consoles, shielding behind a wall and hoping to ambush the other Boyg or Shona Carono with pheroware when they came near.

As the PanOceania forces started moving, a karhu moved around the corner and downed the sukiel efficiently, but his symbiont armor saved him from death. Only unconscious, with a kumotail nearby. The fusileers proceeded to medikit their downed comrade back to consciousness, and repositioned. The units near Jaan moved to deal with the threat, and a monofilament-armed infirmarer vaulted over a wall to engage her in close combat, hoping to slice through her symbiont armor in one attack, but Jaan convincingly won. The boyg and his comrade elected for a fighting advance, leaving Jaan in place as they wore her down. As Jaan fell unconscious, PanOceania activated a second console, putting them at advantage. Shona Carono plugged her nose against the pheroware and gunned down the diplomat. So much for diplomatic immunity.

The kumotail brought the sukiel back up, who again exchanged missiles with the fusileer, this time turning it into a fine mist. The Iago moved around the corner to cut down the Boyg, taking a shotgun slug in the back in return. The makaul near Neema covered their advance with smoke, and Neema came out with her spitfire roaring against the Boyg. Even after multiple engagements forcing the Boyg back, it remained stubbornly alive, albeit bleeding. The makaul vaulted the barrier hoping to burn it, but it was surprisingly agile for something of that size.

The taquel moved forward towards the beacon, hoping to force an opening where another console could be pressed, or at least the beacon could be denied to PanOceania.

Yet another PanOceania medikit salvaged the boyg the igao had just knocked unconscious, and the karhu put down the sukiel for good. The karhu moved sideways across the board, stripping the symbiont armor from the taquel, incapacitating neema, and killing a chaksa, but giving the makaul near neema a chance to drop eclipse to stop its rampage. The boyg near the karhu shot it with a pistol, and positioned itself to protect a console.

With options running out, the schemer which had been with neema revealed itself and punched through the boyg’s armor with a breaker combi rifle. The makaul with the taquel threw eclipse for protection from the other boyg, and the taquel moved up to silence the karhu with pheroware, then burst down the other boyg with viral ammunition. Lacking enough orders to free the beacon, the tohaa forces settled for activating it and settling in to ensure that, at least, PanOceania would not be able to extract it.

With their most powerful guns eliminated, Shona moved to gun down the taquel, but did not have time to finish the job once it was unconscious. The fusileers engaged in a suicide run for the beacon, killing the makaul protecting it, but the lone kaeltar guarding it refused to cede ground, repeatedly shotgunning fusileers until there was no hope left.

With neither side having the beacon in their possession, the taquel signaled for a withdrawal after regenerating, as it was clear the PanOceania forces were willing to throw away lives in a way the Tohaa were not. They had gained some intelligence, and denied the objective to the enemy, though it was a loss overall.
