After the agents of Hassassin Bahram infiltrated the Raveneye Port Battery's ammo supply area to eliminate a group of Nomad opportunists attempting to steal munitions, information has come through the Haqqislam intelligence network that the force we believed to be a small group of opportunists may be working on a larger scale than initially believed. This intelligence was confirmed when a strike force of Tunguskans similar to the one we engaged at the Port Battery arrived at the previously believed to be secret base of the Hassassin Bahram in Durgama. It was not without great surprised that we scrambled our fighters with the breach alarms went off at the Geoscience Lecture Hall. With fewer Fidays and a depleted force of Muyibs available, an extra Farzan instructor joined the fight with us, along with the legendary Leila Sharif who was on station at the time, along with a Monstrucker from the Ramah Task Force who happily joined our force "for a good scrap."
We knew things had taken a darker turn when the Tunguskan strike force turned its eyes on some of the civilians working at the lecture hall. We corralled four into the safest places we could put them, but the Nomads took hostage four meandering students who had not been paying attention. We quickly took offensive positions ready to get our people back and smash these rogue Nomads. The Muyibs held the center while our Asawira's team took the left flank. Daylami spread out to protect the students we were protecting, with the Farzans directing their actions.
All of the major units pushed forward, with the Muyibs clearing the central lane of a Heckler and belligerent Warcor, while the Asawira team moved up the left flank. The haris eliminated the second Nomad Heckler before positioning the Barid to fire pitchers towards the enemy hackers. Instance after instance of buffed trinity was sent across the quantronic network, but only the Zondnautica hacker sucumbed; the Interventor's exception defenses blocked every attack. In the backfield of the right flank, a Fiday who had bidded his time was able to strike down puppetmaster before his puptactica team could come into play.
Despite the damage our initial defense did, the tide turned against us for a time. Authorized bounty hunter scum hired by the Nomads rushed the Fiday and killed him before he could reimpersonate. However, the lull on the left flank allowed the Asawira to cautiously move into position to engage the Interventor on his own terms: firepower. Despite the hacking attempt that followed, the Interventor went down under the close range barrage from the Asawira's spitfire.
The loss of command and control caused by the downing of the Interventor allowed one of our brave muttawi'ah to surge forward and rescue one of the trapped students under cover of smoke, while the Asawira's team provided overwatch. However, the fight now became a knock down, drag out slog against the remaining heavy haris team operated by the Nomads' the same team we had just found at the Raveneye Port Battery!
The Vostok, Perseus, and Fiddler surged forward. One of our remaining Muyibs gave his live charging the haris, but he only managed to damage the rampaging heavy Zond and wound Fiddler. The enemy team continued forward, killing all but a single Muyib (who had been trapped by a bounty hunter's akrlyte cannon). Leila found herself out of position and was unable to bring her weapon to bear on the attackers. Thankfully a carefully placed shot from the Asawira finally put Fiddler down, while a boarding shotgun round took out the Vostok just as it was attempting to kidnap one of the students we had rescued earlier. With two thirds of the haris team down, Perseus and the remaining bounty hunter fled the field, and it was time to tally the butcher's bill once more.
It proved a vicious and bloody day of fighting against a faction we nominally consider as allies. However, lacking the singular vision possessed by Haqqislam often leads to rifts within the Nomad nation. Often these are of little concern, but here rogue elements from Tunguska threatened to damage the fledgling alliance we have formed at Durgama. This issue appears to have been dealt with for the moment, but the speed and ferocity of the counter-attack tends to indicate these opportunists are well-funded and well-connected. We will have to be on our guard. Ever vigilant, ever faithful.
Congratulations on your victory, Commander!
