Command's got a tough one for us today. We may not be privy to why we need to investigate these targets, but we know that Haqqislam forces have several individuals of interest that the Nomads want back. We're going in to collect any survivors and get out. Success means no one ever knows we were here.
We were able to quickly identify that the 4 Persons of Interest were in the Geoscience Lecture Hall. We're deployed to recover them and get back to the orbital.
Our cover was blown almost immediately, as a Haqqislam defensive force opened up with Heavy Rockets, eliminating a Heckler and Warcor.
A heavy fireteam moved up in the confusion, revealing and eliminating our other Heckler, who was unable to jam the enemy hacker, or damage the Asawira leading the team.
We'd brought along 2 Bounty Hunters, who, clearly expecting a kinetic situation came armed with an HMG and a sniper rifle in addition to their SMGs and glue cannons. They were able to eliminate the Fiday who had assassinated the Puppetactica Company in close quarters.The Haqqislam forces were able to use a pitcher to deliver a repeater in range of both of our hackers.
While our Interventor proved too skilled to succumb to their assault, the Zondnautica was not so fortunate.
The Bounty Hunters held off a Daylami attack long enough for the Vostok to maneuver behind and eliminate the threat.
But after an extended Quantronic battle between the Haqqislam Killer Hackers and our Lieutenant, the opposing gunners decided there was an easier way to eliminate our top programmer. And that way was a spitfire. All the firewalls in the Human Sphere won't stop an AP round.
Under cover of the ferocious assualt, OpFor was able to secure one of the persons of interest and spirit them away from the engagement lines.
With our forces suffering many losses, we knew we wouldn't be able to accomplish all of the goals command had assigned us, but we weren't leaving empty handed. The bounty hunters held off a final push led by Yara Haddad
With the Bounty Hunters holding the enemy at bay, our strike team made a risky push into enemy territory, hoping to bypass the Asawira in our back lines. Able to push forward as much as possible the team took fire from the enemy shotguns, but prepared for a run under fire.
While Perseus attempted to provide cover for the rest of the team to reach the civilian targets, the Asawira proved too fast, dodging into position to see Fiddler as she ran across the roof tops, shooting her in the back and leaving the Vostok alone, with Perseus falling too far behind to continue to provide support.No footage exists of the remainder of the operation, but the Bounty Hunters' report indicate the Vostok was able to climb down from the roof shrugging of shots from the Asawira, and several pistol and shotgun rounds, reaching one of the civvies. Once there, the REM was was nearly successful, with several more rounds boucing off of its armored body, but a lucky pellet from the distant boarding shotgun slipped through the armor destroying the circuitry of the machine, and any remaining hope of recovering the Persons of Interest.
