Actually remembering that there is an exclusion zone for this mission, all the JSA troops are deployed further back. This is more or less fine as the camo on the ninjas will still let them get forward to grab the consoles; this confidence would soon be proven hilariously misplaced as the ninja would, throughout the course of the game, lose every single gunfight.

Nomads, reasoning that the Lizard needs the initiative to do work, seized the initiative.

The Lizard was slowed down by the Husong, losing a str. Nonetheless, it pushed further to take out the back corner chaiyi and continued up to hold the high ground.

In an effort to root at the ryuuken9 suppressing the center, a spitfire riot grrl haris wiggled forward and started to tango. Losing a wound, she fell back.

The total reaktion zond got marksman boosted by the evo hacker and climbed the center boxes, also trying to pick a fight with the ryuuken9. Crucially, it took hits, but lived, continuing to lock down the center.

This was followed up by the Custodier Lt. poking her head out and back to fire a pitcher to the JSA left to help lock down that area.

This proved to be a mistake as the center KHD ninja then went left to trinity the Lt, nailing her in one go. This allowed the hacker ninja to scale the ladder unmolested to activate the upper left console. Feeling confident, she poked her head out to shoot, first at a morlock to force him to throw smoke. Then, she whiffed completely against the TR zond, going down like an absolute chump and completely destroying this commander's plan to lock down the left side of the board.

Had the commander not been so confident in the ninja's ability, perhaps Yojinbo would not have charged forward like an impetuous dummy to explode to the Lizard's reaction.

With no smoke and the center locked down, in a desperate attempt to bring down the offending rem and clear the way, the Lt. Domaru went forward for a hail mary speculative grenade. It predictably failed and exposed her to two morlocks, both of whom tanked ryuuken9 SMG bullets like champs to bring her down with impetuous and irregular orders.

The Ryuuken-9 was a complete chad, surviving multiple chain rifles as she sadly watched the Domaru go down. Still basking in the limelight, she then downed the Lizard when it tried to round the corner.

The Riot grrl then, finally, cleared the champion Ryuuken-9 out of the way with double crits, the poor girl. In a hail mary to bring the TAG back, a clockmaker climbed up to take 2 potshots with the gizmokit; they fortunately missed.

On the right flank, the now-lone ML riot grrl moved forward, and miraculously managed to beat out the Ryuuken-9 covering the corner with a single missile.

At this point, with desperation settling in and unable to think clearly, the KHD ninja took down the boosting EVO REM, but forgot to move forward into cover; this would later come to bite her in the booty as the frenzied spitfire Riot Grrl would round the corner and instantly down her. Meanwhile, the Son-Bae fired and whiffed, then on the second shot killed the clockmaker to help prevent more specialists from being able to close on the consoles.

In a very last gasp move, the Rui Shi tried picking a horrible gunfight with the now unboosted TR Zond; the Rui Shi predictably lost.

It would come down the vertigo zond that had dropped in earlier to move forward and activate a console; it naturally did so immediately. Then, it wiggled over a little too much, getting downed by the tactical bow of the final hidden KHD ninja. Just prior, the Riot Grrl spitfire gunned down a decoy, then was oblivioned, keeping it in place for later. The ML Riot Grrl moved forward to try killing the KHD ninja, who took a pistol hit, lived, and dipped around the corner.

The truly last gasp of the JSA came and utterly failed when the KHD ninja tried to move forward and lost a gunfight to a single shot from a moderator. Embarrassing.

It was a loss of a lot of compounded mistakes and horrible, horrible rolling. With the exception of the Ryuuken9 suppressing in the center, I did not win a single gunfight or pass very many armor saves. All my kills were either from the Ryuuken9, hacking, or free shots (KHD ninja tacbow onto the vertigo Zond).

Had I not let Yojinbo charge forward like an idiot into the TAG's EXP shot, I would have had the smoke to maneuver in the center, crucially clearing up and allowing my Rui Shi to move forward earlier from where it was pinned down. Instead, I had expected the SMG hacker ninja to do the trick. But, she whiffed completely, needing 11s and rolled 12, 14, 16 to hit, taking 3, 4, 4 back. The easiest gunfights to win are the ones I never have to pick in the first place; notes for next time.

Nonetheless, I was happy I managed to hold the score to this close, given that dice hated my guts for most of the game, hah. The icing on the cake was the KHD ninja firing a pistol at close range and losing to the one-shot moderator. Yikes. Had the KHD ninja lived, it would have been at least a draw 2-2; if the KHD ninja had lived through the free shot taken while activating the console, she had a shot at killing the designated target for a chance to win biiiiiiig. Such are the whims of the dice and bad decisions at the start of the game. Next time!
