ALEPH

VS Ariadna
Kwapple

First up, Thanks to everyone who made this campaign happen because Kwapple and I had an amazing time and this game was up there with the best games we have ever had (and there have been quite a few). As a 40k refugee I love that I got to take part in something free but super immersive and only wish I had started playing infinity sooner so I could have taken part in more of these.

After extensive chats about the state of Durgama and the infuriating position Ariadna and Aleph have found themselves in continually defending against a stronger force, Syde O’Barn and Andromeda decided to take their good boys for a walk. Darpan has been quite peaceful since we last wandered the grounds and tried to introduce Cetus to the Haqqislam. This time we were sure to not get interrupted as Mr O’Barn brought not only his 3 Antipodes but also 2 Dog warriors, totally 6 best boys on the field including both sides (yes they can all be best boys).

OH NO! After Big Ted had thrown all the Tennis balls and sticks onto roofs with his enormous strength (too used to throwing Trench Hammers) there was only 1 toy left and it squeaked and it was in the “Panic Room”. Syde O’Barn and Andromeda shared a knowing look and quickly took off in separate directions as they knew a good old fashioned dog wrestle was about to happen.

Turn 1:
Ariadna winning the roll off decided to take deployment so I deployed the Aleph aggressively and as far forward to avoid 1 turn of having to worry about the Biotechvore Virus. Using my Naga sniper to sneak up the left flank I shot at the black jack from camo with a surprise full of DA ammo forcing it to take enough saves to see it go down. Failing to remove anything else with the Naga was frustrating but still meant she was in a valuable spot to apply pressure with ARO’s for the next turn. Deciding to check the nearby garden beds for potential sticks and other doggo toys the Naga led Core team of 3 Dakinis and a Rudra moved up the right flank and took some pot shots at the opposing forces to try get their attention to help in the search. What better way to draw attention than putting 2 bullets in someone? Hairy Mclairy the Dog Warrior agreed with this and proceeded to charge towards them.

With some really good uses of Coordinated Orders Kwapple moved his peices up the board unfortunately resulting in Syde O’Barn the Mormaer going down when he traded fire with my Naga. Big Ted and the Dog Warriors (Hairy Mcleary and Sparky) managed to crit on a smoke resulting in a cancelation of an Aleph crit and moving towards the panic room with impunity. With Syde O’Barn down and one of the Ariadnan flanks succumbing to sniper fire we both thought things may be bleak, until…… Kwapple used Dog. It was super effective! Excited at the prospect of stick in the Garden beds the Antipodes rushed forward but when no stick was to be found they decided to use the Dakinis arms as sticks instead. Good Boys!!!

Some Aro’s from the Rudra (no going solo as his fire team was getting chewed up) saw some of the Good Boys go down especially after some mines were placed and a hacking program granting him ‘Enhanced Reaction’ to make up for the loss of his buddies.

Turn 2:
After seeing what the Antipodes did in search of toys I decided to use my Naga to re-camo and shoot at the Antipode controller who was huddled near the corpse of her brave Lt Syde. This may have sounded like a good plan but there was one problem, a cheaky Warcor name Paul. Who Flashed the Naga successfully resulting in a sink of orders to get Parvati to rush up the board and kiss the Naga better. The Controller eventually went down freeing up the Dakini Sniper to help the Rudras deal with some of the other threats left on the board (in the forms of Hairy Mclairy and a Zenit) allowing Alephs Good boy to be let loose. Out sprang andromeda and Cetus quickly dealing with Uxia by bringing her a dog toy to throw back (it was a d-charge, oops). Disgusted with the red mist that used to be his comrade a mere volunteer decided Andromeda had to go and introduced her to the Ouchy end of a shotgun.

With The Rudra and Dakini free to ARO during the Ariadna Turn, with the former still under the effect of ‘Enhanced Reaction’ things got hard for Kwapple, loosing Sparky (the remaining dog warrior) and Big Ted (the Bearpode) as they moved around to get in a better position and re-enforce an undiscovered camo marker that had been hiding in the Panic Room since the start of the game, as if he was waiting for something.

Turn 3:
Darting over the board and deftly dodging her way top the panic room Parvati set up while the Rudra moved towards her to heal the solitary wound he had taken during the aforementioned fire fights resulting in the completion of my Classified and putting Alpeh on the board for points. The Shukra and Rudra set up for ARO’s into the Panic room as Parvati moved in.

“NOTICE ME!!!!” Beardy McTavish popped out of Camo and raced towards Parvati to get an Autograph but only having 3 orders to complete his objective. Real talk, this is where things gets dicey at this point I am at 1 point and Kwapple is on 2, if he manages to kill Paravti here he would score his classified as well as dominate the room for 2 points resulting in a loss for Aleph. Kwapple moves into combat and tries to apply a D-Charge but Paravti made a deft dodge not only keeping her safe from the damage but un beknown to me actually dashed his hopes of completing his classified as she moved into his half of the map. Now if Tavish can Kill Parvati now he cant win but he will draw the match. He hits twice, Parvati saves 1 leaving her with 1 STR and securing the game for Aleph.

*Kwapple and I play each other all the time as we belong to a tabletop club in a very small town. We have had some amazing matches, truly taxing mentally as they were so close. I think we both agree that this game was maybe the best we have ever played and one of the closest matches coming down to what was essentially 2 dice rolls.*
