Battle at Concilium Prima has been intense. The Combined forces have made it far into the Human Sphere. Yet that hasn’t stopped the squabbling amongst the human factions. After some delays, we’ve made it planetside.

O-12 High Command sent us to defend a research area at Zebu. The combined forces were trying to take the facility and they brought the big guns. The Avatar is quite a sight to behold. A frighting monolith of the E.I.’s power. It was surrounded by taighas and other hangers-on. To deal with the Combined’s most fearsome weapon, Command released the Biotechvore. A horrifying nano-weapon designed to destroy life in a contained area.

The problem is that it is just as dangerous to us as to the enemy. Our task was to move in, complete what objectives we could, and make sure the Biotechvore did it’s work. The Combined have brought a new violence to the Human Sphere and we a force in kind. ALEPH was kind enough to lend the aid of two great heroes, Hector and Parvati. With their aid, there felt a measure of hope.

Phase 1:

Once the enemy learned of our presence and the Biotechvore, they began to move forward. The Avatar took the lead, moving toward the center area. Thanks to an enemy Shas hacker (believed to be Victor Messer), a White Noise area gave the Avatar the leverage he needed to wound the Epsilon HMG. Luckily, the E.I.’s time wasted there, and enemy’s inability to locate the other units gave us the edge we needed. Only the Avatar and the taighas made it outside of the Biotechvore drop area. The damage reaped was extensive, much of the Combined force succumbed to the Biotechvore.

Upon seeing the carnage, Hector eagerly ordered the team forward. Only the Avatar, some taighas, a doctor-worm, and a hacker alive…you take every little victory you can. Parvati was able to jump over the drop ship and successfully use her Medkit on the Epsilon. Much of the team was able to then safely move towards the center area. The only way to deal with the Avatar would be with as many able bodies as possible. The Lynx, staying in camo, also moved on the center, hoping to give those aliens a taste of plasma.

Hector, with Team Sirius and a Digger (some local we picked up who knew the area and wanted to get some payback) dealt with doctor-worm and a taigha. Using the large ship as cover, their goal would be to circle around to get the Avatar from behind. It was slow going. The Raptor Squad and a Bluecoat stayed back to watch the rear. Sadly the Bluecoat did not survive the Biotechvore.

Phase 2:

The Avatar is truly a frightful force. His thoughts unknown to us. It didn’t seem to care about its losses, just to continuing to press on, almost casuallly. That monster moves to a safe and then sepsitorizes the Lynx. Using his own Cube against him, to turn him into an ally. Then setting itself up for a suppressive firing zone.

As that was happening, the Taighas rushed in and made quick meals out of the Epsilon and (2) Raveneye Officers (I am not at liberty to state if a certain Cho was present). The Shas hacker (designated as Messer) tried to move and assist its master, but was isolated by the Sirius hacker.

Our options were dwindling at that point. The Raptor Squad moved and took care of the Taighas, but fell unconscious to the Avatar and his new Lynx Operative. At this point the Digger unleashed a daring move. He ran clear across the field, killed Messer, and rushed up behind the Avatar to get in close. Dodging a Lynx plasma carbine all the while.

Phase 3:

The alien menace was taken aback by this driven human. Their fists fought a small scale war all their own. Neither came out unscathed, but humanity raised its exo-enhanced fist in victory as the beast fell. Parvati emerged from her hiding spot to heal the Raptor and mop up the remaining Taigha(s). Unfortunately, she was forced to ‘retire’ the Lynx operative as there was nothing medically we could do for him. The corpse of the Avatar should make for interesting study by our research team.
