Durgama Takeover

Mobile Brigada Edward Okiro left the medbay of the ship with a worried look on his face.
His commander, Reverend Mother Asuncion of the Observance, had departed an hour earlier with a contingent of troops to answer an intrusion in the Fire Control Module. From the scans, it looked like the Japanese defenders of Gekidan station had regrouped and decided to chase them into orbit.
The data Akram, their Black Hand Operative, had stolen must have been of really great importance to them.

Nomad troops, backed up by Tunguska's legendary Uberhacker Mary Problems, had immediately moved to intercept the interlopers before they could establish a connection to the data node where the classified intel was stored.

And with all that going on, Okiro had been left behind, as the dak decided that "his wounds were not fully healed yet, and his implants were still unstable".
That was bullshit! He had never felt better in his life, but still he had to go through hours of clinical tests, and take fifteen different post-implant drugs. Bah. What was he there for if they didn't let him fight?

He arrived to his quarters on the ship, and crawled in the small bunk, opening once again the tactical section of his comlog, to see if there were any news on the outcome of the battle.

His senior officer and many of his closest friends were risking their lives, and he could do nothing but wait...

He was starting to wonder why they would bring a Liberto fishman on a space station, when an incoming communication blinked on the screen: there was a reconnaissance briefing, detailing the nature of enemy forces, and then a complete report of the operation.

He started reading, unconsciously holding his breath.
Sequences from the battle started playing in his retinal implant to integrate the written text; anxiety and dread started to mount, as he scrolled through the document to find the section detailing the casualties suffered.

Defence forces have been deployed, subsystem access is guarded with perimeter weaponry. Forward quantronic coverage is provided by Moran Masai Hunter Noah of the 404 Cons. Sec. Det., while the access point is guarded by Mary Problems herself.
Mercenary element Morpheus, ex-Xperydes contractor, has received Taskmaster equipment by 404 and provides fire support to cover approach vectors.
Lt. Asuncion takes command from left flank, with the protection of Puppetbots designated "Harambe" and "Sherpa" belonging to Tunguskan Oleksandr Krivkov, deployed on right flank rooftop.
Heckler Boris of the Jurisdictional Command of Tunguska takes up advanced position and prepares to deploy FastPanda to ensure datasphere superiority.

Irregular units Bandit Toshiro, Chimera Diana, Liberto "Alberto" take control of the right flank.
Beasthunter Ottie, also registered in the 404 Cons. Sec. Det. Jaguar regiment, covers centre of the battlefield from higher ground.
Vertigo heavy artillery support is on standby and ready to receive telemetric data.

Yojimbo engages and disables Puppetbot ID: "Harambe".
Second rocket launcher hit neutralizes threat.

Daiyokai led assault squad engages panzerfaust Beasthunter "Ottie". She damages enemy heavy power armour, she's then forced to duck due to lack of ammunition.
Daiyokai led assault squad engages Taskmaster "Morpheus", who receives light damage and is forced to look for cover.
Enemy advance is slowed by defensive quantronic coverage. Domaru unit is sent forward to disable perimetral defences and succeeds. His heavy armour is then deactivated by Custodier intervention.
Taskmaster stands back to his position hearing the enemy close in on the objective.

Advanced Mobility Armour "Shikami" is sighted on left flank, Puppetbot ID: "Sherpa" is damaged in the process of slowing its advance.
Heckler "Boris" is in extreme proximity to the enemy unit, keeps his cloaking systems active.

Shikami requests fire support from backfield missile launcher to neutralize Taskmaster threat. The shot is ineffective, and the keisotsu is incapacitated.
Daiyokai tries to neutralize taskmaster, doesn't manage to pierce through protective gear.
Rocket explosion damages nearby Tanko Heavy Infantry unit.
Uberhacker unit acquires Daiyokai suit from Moran "Noah" network coverage, and disables its main servomotor controller.

Cheerkiller "Aglaya" neutralizes immobilized Domaru near the Access Point.
Full force quantronic assault is successful, Daiyokai and Shikami communications are cut off.

Uberfalkommando unit "Diana" ignores orders and assaults Tanko and immobilized Daiyokai in close quarters. Shotgun fire grievously damage the unit, but both hostiles are terminated.

Moran unit abandons the high ground vantage point to accomplish Secondary Mission Objective. ALEPH node localized in advertisement stand for Aristeia! fighter Tao-Wu.

ALEPH node and stand are destroyed with explosives. Secondary Mission Objective secured.
Keisotsu team closes in, Operative Yuriko Oda critically wounds Mary Problems before being neutralized by the Taskmaster.
Shikami tries to retreat to safety to restore commlink with central command, is damaged by Puppetbot ID: "Sherpa" during his retreat.

Bandit unit "Toshiro" takes down enemy keisotsu on the right flank with salvaged RPG. He is then engaged by the opposing force's Commanding Officer from the Domaru unit.
Being out of ammunition, Bandit is forced to retreat and neutralized.
Suspected enemy Thermo-Optically Camouflaged unit detected deep on the right flank.

Puppetmaster "Oleksandr" identifies enemy infiltrator as a Ninja skirmisher. Liberto irregular engages and neutralizes threat.

Enemy Keisotsu neutralized in direct firefight.
Independent reporter eliminated to prevent news of human infighting on the station to spread.

Paramedic from Keisotsu unit fails to resuscitate Tanko Heavy infantry, but forces the Puppetbot to retreat.
Irregular unit Liberto flanks and neutralizes the paramedic.
Domaru Commanding Officer moves to defend the Navigational Data Cache with suppressing fire.

Shikami surprises Moran "Noah" near the Secondary Objective Location. Moran unit is lost.
Shikami neutralized by Vertigo Artillery Support direct hit.

FastPanda deployed by Heckler unit "Boris" gives telemetric data on enemy Lieutenant. Domaru neutralized by artillery strike.
Puppetbot has free path to target, but recovery of the data is prevented by perimeter defences previously set up by the enemy forces.

Hostiles retreat successfully, access to navigational data is impossible.
Integrity of the datasphere defended succesfully, Secondary Mission Objective completed.

Okiro closed his comlog feeling bitter and powerless. Poor Noah, he for sure deserved better. And Toshiro, he didn't know him too well, but always seemed like a decent guy. It was a damn shame.
Maybe if he had been there...

He shook his head. Regret wouldn't get him anywhere. He would ask for Noah's cube to be downloaded in the same virtual environment as Rehena's; he always fancied the girl, but never managed to tell her.

Okiro stood up. He would defend the station for them too.
