Pre-game: Take the Ammo Dump

Morat assault forces pushed into the port battery area, intending make the Nomad forces pay for their stubborn defiance. Two fireteams took the high ground positions on either side of the battlefield, preparing to rain fire down on the humans. In the center, an Oznat and her Preta pack prepared to push into any advancing Nomad forces, while two Daturazi positioned themselves to guard the rear of the advancing force. Finally, two Zerat units infiltrated into forward positions, looking to pick of any isolated Nomad soldiers.

The Nomads deployed a mixed fireteam, led by a Vostok remote, positioned in the central fire lane, while two Mobile Brigada’s secured high ground areas on the far side of the complex. A Moran and Jaguar positioned to hold the Nomad’s left flank, covering the advance of a small Jaguar fireteam. Finally, a the nomad center was held down by a single Transductor Zond and a hidden Vertigo Zond, ready to rain death from the sky.

Turn 1: They’re on the wall sir!

Not wanting to give the Morats time to setup firing positions the Nomad fireteam advanced into the center of the battlefield, the Vostok taking the lead. Taking advantage of the Vostok’s ability to climb the fireteam rampaged through the Morats, putting down the Zerat in the center of the battlefield before scaling the central structure to fire on one Vanguard and Vanguard paramedic. With the central structure secured, the Jaguar team advanced to the left, positioning themselves to apply pressure to the Morat flank further in the battle. Finally, a Hellcat dropped in behind the Morat lines, just in the blind spot of one of the Daturazi, putting him down with a single burst from a spitfire before dropping into suppression fire.

Turn 2: Smoke trails in the sky

Despite the damage the Nomad forces gritted their teeth and dug in. The Wildcat engineer crawled over to the damaged Vostok, hoping to bring it back online. Unfortunately, the damage to the remote was greater than previously thought, and his repairs attempt at repairs caused critical systems to fail, leaving the Vostok a steaming pile of metal and electronics. Jazz, the other survivor of the Nomad fireteam, crawled forward and used her hacking skills to spotlight both Anyat and the Yaogat on the opposite roof as well as the Oznat positioned at the base of the building. With their positions revealed, the Vertigo Zond unloaded its payload, sending missiles at all three targets. With three massive explosions, the three Morats were killed where they stood, with very little left of their bodies. Emboldened by this success, the Jaguar fireteam moved to engage the Yaogat hacker with their own panzerfaust trooper. Rockets flew across the battlefield, and while the Yaogat remained unscathed the Jaguar’s position was hit by a rocket no less than four consecutive times. Whether through a complete disregard for his own life or he truly believed he was immortal, the Jaguar continued to fire on the Yaogat, until he finally succumbed to his injuries (seriously, this guy live through four orders of getting hit by a pazerfaust, without even going dogged, only dying to a crit on the last hit).

With the major threats to the Morat forces neutralized, the Morats moved to take control of the battlefield. The remaining Daturazi pushed forward into enemy territory, looking to take out surviving Nomad soldiers. His advance caused the two Mobile Brigadas to peak their heads out above the cover they were hiding behind to try and cover their comrades. This allowed the Yaogat hacker to use his panzerfaust to take out both the missile launcher Mobile Brigada and the Transductor Zond. Finally, The Zerat forward observer lifted her head out of cover to take a shot at the other Mobile Brigada, but failed to inflict any lasting damage.

Although the Morats had been bloodied, they were far from being out of the fight. The Oznat took the initiative, using her smoke grenade launcher to provide cover for the Morat’s counterattack. Taking advantage of the smoke that was now present around the battlefield, the Yaogats went to work. The hacker, surprised by the excessive amount of ammunition available for his panzerfaust fired on the Mobile Brigada with the missile launcher, wounding her and forcing her to ground. On the other flank, the sniper Yaogat killed the overwatching panzerfaust Jaguar without much effort. With these threats dealt with the Preta team advanced on the central building, scaling the walls to attack the main Nomad fireteam. While the two Pretas were killed by the return fire, they managed to kill two of the Aguaciles in the team and wound the Vostok. Seeing the damaged and vunerable Vostok, the Yaogat sniper took aim and made it inoperable, giving the Morats some much needed breathing room.

Turn 3: Consolidating positions

With relatively few remaining resources the Nomads moved to try and blunt the Morat advance. The Mobile Brigada moved to fire on the Daturazi. His shots found their mark and dropped the Daturazi. Unfortunately, as the Brigada fired on the Daturazi, the Zerat returned fire, felling him in a single shot. Finally, the remaining Jaguars moved to secure the High Value Target, trying to salvage what remained of their defensive line.

The Morats, sensing weakness, began to push forward. The Yaogat fireteam move off of their high ground and advanced into the middle of the background. The spitfire Yaogat failed to identify an High Value Target in the middle of the battlefield, and failed to remove items from a panoply. His final act of the battle was to fire at the back of the Jaguar near the HVT, killing him outright.

With the final shots fired the Nomads were driven from the field and the Morats controlled this section of the Port Battery. The surviving Morats dug in and awaited reinforcements.
