List Considerations

I had I deployed first, and was unsure where things would be pushing forward or exactly what I would be up against. I put repeaters on rooftops along both table edges to cover whatever he moved up with, either with oblivion or spotlight to threaten missiles. I had a strong midfield presence, but very limited ability to push into his deployment zone. Similarly, the threat of my hacking was going to limit the Wu Ming's ability to push forward. The saturation zone would also come in big in terms of limiting missile launchers and pitchers, but also make it very difficult for Guilang to do work in the active turn with their shotguns.

My left side deployment.
My right side deployment. I put remdriver on the TR bot to help with these long-ranged gunfights.
My opponent put his Pangguling and missile bot on the roof, covered by Yojimbo's koala. The two hackers were behind the billboard, linked with the remote.
My opponent set up his Wu Ming around a building, facing off against a few of my big guns.

Yu Jing turn 1

I had made the mistake of deploying my TR bot exposed, which allowed my opponent to place his own and the Wu Ming missile launcher in view of it. I had one of the Monstrucker's servants near it, so I decided to put up marksmanship and take the fight anyway. I decided to fight the Wu Ming first due to its greater ability to threaten me. I took it out in two orders, but my bot went down in the process. I brought it back up, then kept shooting and took out his bot.

I forgot to take this picture until later in the turn. The bounty hunter wasn't there yet.

I didn't see much ability to get an attack going, so instead spent the remainder of my orders grabbing objectives with my Bounty Hunter. I got both the one in the middle and on my right, then went into suppression with her.

I spent my remaining orders in group 2 moving the Monstrucker toward my console, covering it with a mine. Overall I wasn't happy with how the turn went. I just didn't feel like I got enough done.

Ikari Turn 1

My opponent brought a Bashi onto the table along my back edge, using a shipping container to hide from my missile bot. He then swung around the corner to fight it. I made him spend an extra order as I dodged his first shot, but I completely forgot about declaring Look Out to try to spin with the Rui Shi, Monk, and Monstrucker.

The Bashi kept its play going, shooting my Monstrucker in the back. One of the more expensive Monstrucker profiles has a 360 visor and an Akrylat-Kanone that would have been in good range, but in this case the Bashi took me out unopposed.

The camo token next to the Monstrucker was just a mine from my Long Ya, and so couldn't help me here in any way.

The Bashi's rampage continued, moving to line up a template on my Monk and Rui Shi. The remote dodged to spin and see the Bashi from cover, but the Monk failed the dodge and went down.

Rather than risk a fight that was still pretty good for the Bashi, my opponent used his Druze to set up a repeater within range of the Rui Shi, then used his Brawler to power through its BTS with carbonite.

With no ability for me to fight back, the Bashi put down two templates onto my Rui Shi, bringing it down while it passed a reset.

Yojimbo cut diagonally across the table, using a smoke grenade to cover his advance against my Bounty Hunter and Long Ya.

The black and white token was used to represent the middle of a smoke grenade.

Yojimbo moved up through the smoke grenade into CC with the Bounty Hunter. I got lucky and landed a hit with the para CCW. Yojimbo spent another order to dodge out of it. I went for an attack with my pistol, only realizing afterwards that I could have used the para weapon again to stack mods and put Yojimbo's dodge onto a 2. Instead, Yojimbo won the roll, then spent another order to kill her.

Yu Jing turn 2

I opened the turn by revealing my Daoying to put a spotlight onto his Bashi. I normally don't like spotlight in the active turn, but between the mission bonus and surprise, I was rolling one 16 against his dodge on a 9. I landed it in one order. I didn't realize until writing up the report that the Bashi could have gone back into a marker state at the end of my opponent's turn. My opponent must have forgotten about that too.

I pulled my TR back toward the Bashi, taking a shot on Yojimbo along the way. Yojimbo was able to land a smoke grenade against me. I lined up shots along my edge to the Bashi, but even on 18s he was able to dodge into total cover from me.

I switched over to my Long Ya and moved to see the Bashi up close. My opponent opted for the trade, but I passed the save against his shotgun.

I moved my Krakot up into Yojimbo's smoke. I thought about an intuitive attack, but instead tried to dodge into him to set up a berserk. This required me to pass a dodge and Yojimbo to fail which was a pretty unlikely situation, even with Yojimbo at a -3.

Instead, I pushed my Guilang forward to put a repeater up within range of his Wu Ming, setting up a mine along the way and going back into camo.

JSA Turn 2

My opponent's biggest priority was removing the mine that I had just placed, as it was threatening Yojimbo. He started by trying to discover it with a Desperado, but failed the roll.

The Desperado pushed closer to the mine, taking it out from outside of template range. This play got him in range of my repeater, so I was able to land a spotlight on it.

After this picture was taken, my opponent realized that he had gotten into my mine's trigger area, and pulled the Desperado back. This also made it so that he didn't see the Guilang or repeater.

With the mine out of the way, Yojimbo was free to take on my Krakot in combat. He beat it handily, but took a Panzerfaust from my Long Ya for it.

The Ninja came out of hidden deployment to go for my central console. There was a narrow gap where my Long Ya saw it between the concrete barrier and shipping container, which forced my opponent to spend an extra order crossing as a marker before pushing the button.

The Desperado came around the corner to threaten my Guilang and the repeater with a template. I dodged with the Guilang and passed the roll, while the chain rifle took out my repeater. The list my opponent sent me had a Desperado without a chain rifle, but he was playing it all game as the 6-point assault pistol version.

With no repeater covering the Wu Ming, the HMG was free to stand up and fight my TR bot. With all the buffs I had up and the saturation zone, he was rolling 4 13s against my 3 15s. This was pretty much a coin flip, but he was able to get through with only 2 orders. A couple more orders allowed the Wu Ming to get a shot on my Long Ya, which it beat handily.

The Desperado spent its last order to try to take out my Guilang. Rather than try to survive, I opted to place a repeater to cover the Wu Ming again. He had been advancing the shotgun Wu Ming while taking shots with the HMG, and so spent another order to see the repeater. He was able to take it out, but I isolated the Wu Ming.

Yu Jing Turn 3

I saw an opportunity to take out his Druze, Bounty Hunter, and maybe even the Ninja with my Tiger Soldier as I pushed toward his console. I walked the Tiger on from my opponent's back edge and started by trying to take out his Druze in the open. The Druze landed a crit and killed the Tiger Soldier. Running out of tools, I brought the Weibing across the view of his Wu Ming HMG to try to make a play against his consoles. The Wu Ming killed my remote.

The score at this point was tied, but my opponent still had a turn. He was unlikely to make it to my console, but easily could have gotten one or both of the other antennas. We were running out of time, and decided to call the game there.
