When I put my models on the board I thought that bringing two Maghariba Guard would be pretty silly - after all, if one was destroyed I'd be down a third of my points, and if both went down I'd be left with no real heavy weapons. What I failed to consider was that my opponent wouldn't bring a missile launcher or similar.

It took a full turn's worth of orders to break the Yu Jing fireteam - two-wound models with ARM 3 or better, in cover, are a tough nut to crack! Fortunately a steady bombardment of heavy rockets eventually made some headway, and the second Maghariba Guard - the classic beetle - helped out its bigger brother by bringing its Multi HMG to bear.

From there Razors_Edge ran out of steam - he managed to drop a grenade-happy paratrooper behind my lines but all he accomplished was knocking my Naffatun LT unconscious, before dying to a Najjarun's rifle fire.

My scorpion Maghariba then moved up the board and vapourized both the enemy HVTs pretty casually, then shot his automated turret out of spite. Razors_Edge conceded at that point since there was no way to recover from the fairly brutal beating he'd taken.

For all that it was a pretty clean sweep it was actually really close. Both Maghariba Guard took a few wounds and if he hadn't flubbed a few rolls at a crucial moment he could have easily swept my back field and denied me quite a few orders. But ultimately it's just really, really hard to handle a pair of giant mecha stomping across the battlefield and his list was perfectly suited to not be able to handle it.

A beautiful pile of flamethrowers.
A blurry Amy surveys the battlefield.
My initial deployment. The fireteam in the upper left was my biggest concern.
My scorpion Maghariba Guard moved up, trading shots with the Yu Jing fireteam.
The glory of the heavy rocket launcher.
For all that I had much heavier firepower the dang Yu Jing fireteam just would not break, so I had to resort to trickery and had both Maghariba open up on them with a coordinated order. This was after four or five orders where we alternately forgot about the fireteam ARO bonuses, the terrain we were shooting at each other through, and then forgot the fireteam ARO bonuses *again*. Look its _really_ hot, OK? Our brains are melting.
I forgot that one of Razors_Edge's favourite tricks is dropping paratroopers on me who blow up. It wasn't so bad - I "only" lost my Naffatun LT - but it was close.
The Najjarun engineer earned his paycheque by shooting that paratrooper as he tired to close to melee with another Naffatun.
This Killer Hacker made a tactical whoopsie and took a pair of EXP rounds to the head.
This one, too.
Greg was not impressed with Razors_Edge's performance, but he accepted pets.
