Mission Update to Darpan Command

The situation at Zebu has become horrible. A containment breach caused a leak and the released symbiocuirass, rapidly infected a group of O-12 soldiers. The Yadu Lt., Chong, who had been dispatched to help defend the base against Shasvastii, appears to have misinterpreted the infection and designated the troops as alien hostiles–even as the infection slowly began to spread to his own troops. He quickly identified a Zeta under the troop’s command as a primary threat and opened fire with rockets, which also destroyed a nearby defense-weapon installation. The surprised O-12 troops deployed smoke to protect from the attack, but Lt. Chong ordered one of the devas under his command to open fire through the smoke and they destroyed the Zeta. Several mercenaries also assumed a threatening posture. One was shot and killed by an Epsilon sharp-shooter, while others moved into covering-fire positions, attempting to keep the O-12 troops at bay. However, O-12 quickly rallied and moved into position to control the area and defend the valuable data stored there. A brave Nyoka attempted to disable the yadu shooters. He was unable to do so before the yadu squad killed him. However, during the exchange he clipped Lt. Chong with a rocket, killing him. The Post-human Diana, or was it Beatrice? perhaps both–Forgive me, that technology still confuses me–took command of the troops, but rightly questioned the validity of Lt. Chong’s conclusions. The Yadu’s, now with support from the Deva’s, continued to advance, killing several more O-12 troops. Shortly thereafter, O-12 Lt. Cho was able to communicate with Diana and they ceased hostilities before the advancing squadron could kill the troops defending the research data or seize any data for themselves.

Lt. Chong’s remains, with his cube intact, are being delivered to your lab as we speak. They are being accompanied by Dr. Vargu, who has been tasked to work with you to analyze Chong’s processing. If it is possible that the infection spreading through Zebu can compromise an L-host’s proper functioning, further tragedy could result. Aleph is hereby ordered to withdraw all troops from Zebu until analysis of Lt. Chong’s cube can determine more precisely what happened and whether or not an ongoing threat exists.
