Lt. Sera Arzumanyan brushed at the dust on her uniform, somewhat meaninglessly. The barrage of grenades from the Squalo had completely covered her in a fine layer of plaster.
She activated her comms "Busifalus, we have wounded. Please dispatch a medical team. Evac for the severely wounded, stimms for the shaken. Your path is clear. We're too close to this to leave now. I need the Kaplan team, and..." she closed her eyes and took a deep breath "And the Yuan Yuans."
Round 3 of the tournament I ran over the weekend. My final game was vs aristeia, and due to previous rounds running over, this was a lighting round. We played just round 1 of Decapitation.
I told aristeia after the game, I think this is my first win against him. His Ariadna scares me. They get work done.
Because of the lightning round I'm a bit fuzzy on what was on the table that didn't score points, but I'll do my best. I realized I had no idea what I was looking at in my pictures of his deployment, so I just have mine. I clustered toward the left, Ghulams on the far left, KTS a bit in from them, then the Azra'il, and two Hawwas close to his designated targets. I misjudged the length of some of the lanes, but I tried to give good coverage of the longer lanes on the table - it was a pretty dense one. Misjudged where I put Leila and she got outranged, but the KTS Sniper and the Azra'il worked out.
Aristeia had first turn. He started out focusing on the Azra'il and put it prone when I failed my Guts. The photo above is actually after turn 1, so you can see the wound on the Azra'il and Leila is already gone. One Yuan Yuan that didn't stick the landing is close to the corner she had been on.
He tried to clear more of my overwatch and shot down Leila, but was stopped by the KTS Sniper and decided to reconsider.
He brought in his Bearpode and killed my first Designated Target. He was down to his last order or two and about to pull back and I reminded him we're probably only playing this one round, you're in reach of my other DT, just do it. The Bearpode rushed right through multiple AROs and killed the DT, only going Dogged in the process. He then killed one of my Hawwas I had revealed to try to kill the Bearpode on its rush.
With my turn I started with Yuan Yuans. I dropped one, and missed the landing. The second stuck it, and I moved it in to Chain Rifle one DT, but the DT and the Spetznaz next to it survived and I lost the Yuan Yuan. Next I moved up my second Al Hawwa' and went on a shotgun rampage. I took down the DT, the LT, and two or three other models on my way before it went down too.
The other DT I could actually see from where the Azra'il started. I stood it up, split burst between the Kosmosoldat watching the Azra'il and the DT and put down I think both. At least the DT went down.
Going second in a lightning round probably gave me an edge here, Aristeia didn't have any way to respond, but he theoretically had equal chance to cripple me since he was going first.
Had the game continued I'm not sure how it would have progressed. I had removed a lot of his key tools, I think, hard to say with all the Camo, but I was going to be relying on my KTS going forward so it may have been difficult for me to root out further LTs.
As it did go down I was actually pretty proud of my scalpel work. I really like playing Infinity where I can do a lot of work with a few infiltrators, and my deployment made a good wall to break his first assault against.
Aristeia is a great guy and always a fun opponent, I'm always happy when he makes it down to my events. I'm looking forward to playing all 3 rounds next time.
edit: checking that video box with some content from our Nomad Allies
I liked it too! It’s my “in case we are short on decent terrain” box, but local player Outlaw did a great job with it.
Really cool battle report, I like the table !
A third well written report here!
All the camo and more camo! lolz.
Edited to add Aristeia’s list
