OSS Task Force Lambda had been redeployed on another peacekeeping mission, this time to support the beleaguered forces of the JSA at the Gekidan Reaearch Park. ALEPH had adopted a defensive position at Gekidan, aiming to secure the facility against those seeking to use the confusion to disrupt the Japanese research. Mercenaries from the Spiral Corps were approaching the facility without clear benign intent, and TaskFirce Lambda moved to intervene. Vulnerable Japanese scientists were in the area. Shukra Consultant Orphos spread out his Dakini fire team and rebots, with the Posthuman proxies and Dart ranging out ahead. A Dasyu hacker was already infiltrating along the expected line of the Spiral advance.
Unexpectedly, there were several other OSS assets already in the area, moving within the area of operations. Moving to parley, Lambda were surprised when what had appeared to be an idle Dakini tactbot raced into action, revealing itself as a Kiiutan imposter. The imposter destroyed Lamedhs and Netrods in the OSS back line before it’s rampage was halted by heavy response fire from the team Zayin. Under the confusion, a Clipsos infiltrator slipped from the shadows and interrogated a console, identifying a target from the Japanese scientists, though not the lead. Another Kiiutan revealed themselves near the identified scientist, gunning them down with viral ammunition before seeding electromagnetic mines before the Dakini fire team.
The OSS team raced to regain the initiative. The team PostHuman, wearing their Mk1 proxy, repaired one of the downed Lamedhs while driving a Yudbot into the open and triggering the mines. Freed to mobilise, the Dakini link moved to systematically engage and destroy the remaining Kiiutan along with a heavy KielSaan assault unit howling towards them. In doing so, they exposed themselves to rocket fire from a Helot, who destroyed two of the Dakini in a fiery blast.

The PostHuman jumped to its Mk5 proxy, hugging cover and advancing to the console on the OSS left flank, where it successfully determined the highest value target in the Spiral corps retinue. The Mk5 relayed the information and hunkered down to suppress the approach to the console. Under the cover of their thermo-optic camouflage, the Dasyu slipped from their concealed position and advanced on the Spiral back line.

Resuming their advance, an individual in the special ops uniform of a Hatail reached the central console, identifying a further non-vital target amongst the Japanese scientists. A blur of camouflage displaced, revealing itself as an Igao unit. Covering its own advance with Mirrorball pheroware, the Igao gunned down this second scientist. A Kaauri Sentinel broke the camouflage cover of the Dasyu within the Spiral Corps back lines, and a Chaksa Auxiliary unit moved in with flamer ready to incinerate the interloper.

Before he could get in range however, the Dasyu slipped away, retreating up a flight of stairs and unloading her shotgun into the back of a Kaeltar. Reapplying her camouflage, the Dasyu melted into the rear arc of the Helot who had destroyed the Dakinis, casually eliminating them. The path to the Spiral HVT was now clear for Dart to advance, and she swiftly climbed around an approach building, gunning down the priority target. The remains of the Dakini link moved to flush out the presumed location of a second Helot rocket launcher, discovering their location at the expense of a third casualty.

The Spiral Corps Hatail operative shifted towards the final console, detouring to unleash her Trinity program against the Mk2 PostHuman hacker, disabling the proxy. She then took up a coveted position overlooking the Mk5 proxy, outraging the suppression fire from the PostHuman’s sub machine gun. After a protracted fire fight, the viral rounds from her combi rifle brought the lhost down, and she moved to the console, identifying the final target. The Igao moved to eliminate them, but could not progress past the covering fire from the reminding heavy PostHuman proxy.

In the dying stages of the engagement, the OSS force attempted to reach another console to identify another target. The Spiral Corps had the approaches locked down however, the Helot militia raining rockets down on any who approached. OSS were forced to withdraw.

End score 5-5. I got lucky here, think my opponent generally outplayed me, but got unlucky with the priority target revealed at third guess when I got it in one. They still neatly made it, but ran out of orders, taking too many to displace the Mk5 from the third console. I’ve not yet got the hang of moving the full core link, I again lost stuff to templates, though this time it was at least through mismanaging the movement and dying from ARO rather than leaving a juicy clump for my opponent’s active turn.
