OSS Task Force Lambda moved stealthily through the jungle around the secret research facility at Camiliard. While ALEPH had no direct stake in the work underway at Camiliard, Lambda had been despatched to act as a deterrent to Yu Jing incursions m the facility. The contrarian nature of the bellicose Jade warriors was destabilising humanity’s collective efforts against the common alien foe. Lambda moved to secure an outpost on the approach to Camiliard.

Shukra Consultant Orphos was closing his team on the central outpost, his Dakini fireteam covering the right approach, a Zayin rebot and Dart covering the left, while a PostHuman guided a pair of proxies towards the front of the armoury, covered by an Arjuna and two Kirambots. Lamedh rebots covered flanks. Alas, the perfidious Yu Jing Invincibles struck before they had secured their position! Heavy infantry and a Rui Shi rebot advanced towards the OSS right flank, systematically destroying the Lamedhs, before engaging the Deva leading the Dakini fireteam. The Deva was forced to suck for cover, wounded. The Rui Shi swept round to flank the Deva, but found itself pinned between fire from the Deva and a Dakini. Riddled with gunfire, the Rui Shi dropped. The Heavy infantry accompanying the rebot consolidated behind cover.

On the OSS left flank, a blurred outline approached the Zayin rebot. As it’s auto senses whirred to identify the threat, a rocket shrieked from the gloom, destroying the rebot before it’s gun cycles could trigger.

Orphos directed his forces to retake the initiative. The Deva advanced and finished off the Rui Shi before it could be repaired. The Dakini sniper engaged a Yu Jing HMG rebot covering the right flank, destroying it. The PostHuman moved a Mk5 proxy to the central armoury, opening the gates and raiding the internal supplies for a motorbike. The Arjuna moved to cover the entrances to the armoury with his peripherals laying cyber mines around the entrances. The PostHuman moved the hacker Mk2 proxy within the armoury ready to quadronically engage the Yu Jing heavy infantry as they approached. The Dakini fireteam shifted to cover the right flank approach. Dart advanced up the left flank, aiming to enfilade the Invincible elements on that side. The OSS had initial control of the armoury.

The Invincibles resumed their offensive. A link team coordinated to flush out Dart, gunning her down after some cat and mouse in the walkways. Freed from her harassment, a Yu Jing missile bot moved to a commanding position and fired a missile that disastrously caught the tightly clustered ALEPH forces within the armoury, destroying the Mk2 proxy, the Arjuna and one of his Kiranbots, leaving the other controllerless. The Mk5 was forced to retreat outside the armoury for cover. A Yu Jing peripheral was pushed forward triggering the cyber mines. The Yu Jing link team then advanced further, moving the missile bot into volley range of the Dakini fire team. With a series of explosions, the Deva and the Dakini were wiped out. The Yu Jing forces reformed their Heavy infantry link team and advanced on the armoury; a tense firefight ensued with the Mk5 proxy, who was gunned down by pinpoint Multi rifle fire.

Severely depleted, OSS resumed the offensive. The last PostHuman proxy was destroyed by a long range missile as she dodged toward the armoury. Finally the Shukra Orphos himself entered the fray, gunning down a Yu Jing heavy infantryman beside the armoury and loving into position to cover the panoplies, staging for an assault.

Orphos repeatedly engaged the Yu Jing forces within the armoury, wounding them badly with his nanopulser, but was finally gunned down. Victorious, the Yu Jing ransacked the panoplies within the armoury and planted a hacking program on the HVT mission specialist the ALEPH forces had brought with them. Yu Jing had won the day and would be free to pursue their prosecution of Camiliard once more.

I’m a relatively new player, and this was both my first time playing Armoury and my first time trying a full link team. I can identify a good few mistakes I made. Trying to discover the camo marker with my Zayin and eating a panzerfaust in return- that Zayin still being in position would have made his link team movement much harder. Trying to put far, far more tab I needed into the armoury when I already controlled it, leaving lots open to a template. Mis positioning my link to again leave them vulnerable to a template. These lessons will be learnt, and aim for a better result next time.

  • Commander Shen Niu says:

Really good game buddy! I think your list building is on point, only need practice with links…

Anyway, the lesson is, don’t get on the way of the Empire State haha

  • Epistaxis says:

    Great report, Commander!

  • Straeyve says:

    Good report here.
Yeah the Linkteams can be complicated to handle, even for more experienced players. The enemy often finds a way to slip through an dunk on the team. But it will get better with practice.
