Report to the JSA high command by Lieutenant Nakamura Kaori…

Today our patrol encountered a group of PanOceanian Knights. Although our nations are generally considered allies, there was an instant rush of aggression and my group assumed a defensive position to defend itself against the incoming fire. Because of the fast reaction of my soldiers, only one Tanko was taken down before we mounted a counter-offensive. I took a higher position to cover the enemy in supressive fire. Then something unexpected happened: although I clearly missed one of the enemy troopers, he went down dead. At the suspicious sight I asked the enemy for an immediate ceasefire via an open channel, which was agreed upon by the commanding Knight after hearing my out. Both our patrols retreated the territory swiftly and reported back to high command.
This was the right thing to do, and also the only way honor could be retained.

In retrospective, maybe even the beginning of the fighting might be orchestrated; I recommend investigating the obvious manipulation of evetns.

End of report…

What happened here?

At a pivotal point of the game (on Round 2), I wrongfully claimed a critical hit. Therefore, we decided to report it here as a draw although we initially played it out to the end. A big THANK YOU to my opponent for not taking offence in this situation!

The opponents

The JSA patrol consisted of a Core fireteam of 3 Keisotsu specialists, a Haris Samurai fireteam, Yojimbo plus one Ninja Killer Hacker.
On the other side, the Military Orders decided to heavily focus and brought ond Haris Teutonic fireteam plus a full Core team with 3 Crosiers, a Sergeant Hacker and a Black Friar for a really impressive firebase.

Unfortunately there is group photo of PanO, we were too eager for action!

Deployment

Both of us deployed quite defensively, but PanO had the initiative and placed the Core team in a position where it could directly get up to a strategically good position on a rooftop.

Round 1 PanO

As intended, the big fireteam climbed to the top of the building without any enemy interference. But when they tried to optimize their position once more, the Ninja Hacker revealed himself! However, the Seargeant Hacker was healed back after Trinity took him out. The Knight fireteam was next to take action, but the duel Knights vs. Samurai ended with a tie as one fighter from each side was taken out.

Round 1 JSA

Now it was time for the Domaru Lt. to shine! She managed to force the Crosiers into prone/cover and shoot down the Black Friar. With the covering elements gone, the Ninja tried to finish the enemy Hacker... but instead got Obilivion-ed. With not much options to stop that Sargeant now, Yojimbo rushed across the field in a suicidal attack and shot the Hacker, but he survived his saving throw. Now JSA was in a bad situation, only good news was that the Domaru held the roof in suppressive fire state.

Round 2 PanO

Top priority of PanO was to take out the Domaru. And on the second shooting duel, the wrong critical hit happened... this changed the course of the battle, since it meant that the whole round and all orders was needed to remove the Domaru (which finally fell, but the cost was too high for the Knights).

Here it happened... crit instead of miss

After that...

As written in the beginning, we still continued the fight, so I want to give you a short summary of that: JSA was in LoL, but had a lot of fighters still ready to get the job done. Moreover, there was not much in regards to AROs to be feared, so the Keisotsu claimed an antenna and revived the fallen Tanko from round 1. At the end of the JSA round, the field was really controlled and PanO was not able to break this stranglehold in the last round.

Conclusion

Although there was this stupid thing in the middle of the battle, it was still fun afterwards. But my key takeaway: always re-check your critical hits, you never want to apply one wrongly!
