WorstCase happens

This a more narrative battle report about a mega casual player who has been absent from the game for some years ..who went to play a game Infinity with someone unknown…
I wanted to play a 3rd game badly. I reached out to Tristan228.. he invited me to a Infinity WhatsApp group.. there I met him.. a friendly and chill guy.
Later the ‘WorstCase’ happened..
Me: btw what is a Satellite ?
WorstCase: a tournament, once per year and country. Big, very big.
Me: Cool!… wait.. winner? You won two?!
WorstCase: yes. 2 Satellites in Germany. The furor teutonics.
Me: …. What is your T3 (tournament ranking system) rank?
WorstCase: 1. I am 4 years in a row number 1 German player, top 10 in the world. Why ?
Me: …. Uhm .. okay. This was the moment I realized — I F*%#ked up..
I won initiative and tried to speed fast to the supply boxes and then run away. Solid plan, but exactly what he wanted.
He had 0 specialists. Why? He forgot which mission we wanted to play and … had no specialists at all.
Did I ask ? Nope. Why? Who does this?! No one so I did not expect that to happen…
I opened two boxes for him, shot down an HMG total reaction REM and a noctifier.
But then my muyib link was exposed and clustered.. this ‘monster pigs’ slaughtered me. He played his vanilla force with the precision of a CnC machine, the sharp blade of scalpel and the power of a bulldozer.. killing everything but my badly placed asawira spitfire :(
It was a tough game. I learned a lot and only because I did not open the third box and managed to die to far away for him to grab the second box.. it was ‘just’ a 0:6…
I pushed for the mid with my Harris and got the middle box.
The Shujae on the right opens the box, but had a snuggly meeting with a daturazi.. there I lost the first supply box.
Later turn 1 I killed the total reaction hmg and a noctifier. But then my muyib link was opposed and died in his first turn.
In the second turn I ran away, but he killed my Harris. I dropped my supply box, but at least far away enough to not get picked up by the CA..

To be fair, the result was clear when I read the players. 😀 But great that you tried and a good report!
Fantastic. I played against Polynikes when he was #2 in the world and had a similar conversation. “Aren’t you number 2 or 3 in the world right now?” “Yeah, but don’t let that bother you.”

I changed the stat record of WorstCase because I was not precise. He won Satellites 2x, 4x German number 1 ..

LOL, I have a similar story. I was at a Narrative Event, half the players had been assigned a table and the other half had to choose with whom they wanted to play.
When it was my turn to choose, I saw a guy sitting alone in a corner table that everyone was avoiding. Being who I am, I go straight for him and ask him if I can play with him. His face glowed as he said “Yes!”
To make a long story short, he was the best player in the event (and the Tri-State area), he was playing JSA, and I had to point out in the doll where the bad Shinobu Kitsune had tocuhed me.
Beat title ever.
