VS Ariadna
R3n3

***Offtopic***
After 4 years of playing Infinity just 3-5 times per year the Durgama campaign was the best moment to play again.
R3n3 often plays the Ariadna Smoke-Paintrain and beat the c..p out of me over and over. Luckily he tried something new today.

R3n3 played Ariadna – Caledonian Highlander Army
I played Haqqislam – Hassassin Bahram

Points: 200
Mission: Supplies
Location: Haßloch, germany – Ad Arma Club =)

Testing the Perimeter

***Narrative Part***

It was a rainy day until the sun came out again. Everything was soaking wet, when the CHA tested the security in the Haqqislam Hangar.

A small Caledonian detachment attacked the hangar area to get some data. The supplyboxes with the data-cards were their main target. Hunzakut Sunnysmile, again in charge of a Hassassin Bahram squad, was guarding the perimeter.

The Hangar Area
Round 1 Setup Haqqislam
Nothing to see here. Move on!

R3n3 got the initative and chose to the deployment.
Hunzakut Sunnysmile on the other hand was quicker and was able to deliver the first blows, before the Ariadna force could strike.

In the first phase of the battle an endless rain of bullets and 2 Flammenspeers were fired at the cateran on the rooftop. Sadly he gunned down a Ghazi and went prone after a (5! order) long firefight with both the Asawira, who sadly was out of his good range and the Shujae with his Flammenspeer.

With the biggest threat "removed" the link team moved up the board and guarded the right flank.
The right Shujae fired a Flammenspeer into Uxia, killing her. Her bystander was wounded, but lived.
After getting rid of the possible crossfire the right Shujae secured the Datacard.

On the left flank a Shujae fired 2 times against the Sniper, but he had to wait for the bullet rain of the Asawira forcing the Sniper prone. He secured the second Datacard, but was surprised by an S.A.S. Luckily the S.A.S failed to wound the Shujae and was gunned down by the Submachinegun.

Crossfire

The Caledonian Force brought the sniper back into the firefights, but the Asawira-Yara duo was in the best position - great range, cover and waiting. They gunned down the Sniper for good.
On the flank the Wulver killed the remaining Ghazi and went for the Hangar in the mid. On the rooftop a firefight between the Wulver and the Asawira broke out. Resulting in a gunned down Wulver.

In a desperate attempt to shift the tides of the battle the Caledonian Mormaer went out in the open field and attacked the fortified loaction of the wild link. The Asawira took a wound, but stayed alive.

End of round one

The rest of the "incident" was resolved quickly.
The Asawira smelled blood and shot down the Mormaer.
With the LT lost, all big guns downed the Ariadna Commander R3n3 decided to call it a day. The fortified mid with the wild mixed linkteam was too much for today.

Conclusion

***Conclusion Ariadna***
Playing a sectorial with out a link is tough and limits your power significantly.
Some unlucky rolls did not help.
***Conclusion Haqqislam***
I start to understand why the "wildcard"-Links had to be nerfed and Shujaes are SOO strong. Their -6 mimetism, forward deployment and Flammenspeer - WILD! MVPs of the match. I played them for the first time, but not the last - for sure.
The fiday to lure the opponent into wasting orders failed. R3n3 simply ignored him xD

With nearly 2 full turns left it was clear that I could acchive nearly everything. Going for the HVT, getting all Datacards.
It was an unlucky match for R3n3, but I´m sure he will continue to whi** my a** again.

For the video- it was a "promo" video for our annual tabletop convention - but I still find it funny, so I linked it :D
The second video was R3n3 and my game 4 years ago - for the campaign that time. =)

Excellent report! When playing against monsters, we cherish every win. In my world, that’s Chaos Panda.

Good work! You are right about campaigns, they get people playing! Its really great to be a part of.

  • Sunnysmile says:

The problem with the turn by turn is… I can’t remember everything and in the end he invested many orders in just 2-3 moves.
And of cause we played till round 2 beginning, because round 1 was to devastating. In the future he will stomp me again. I know his skills and how well he plays his lists. This was not his A Game, by far. I was lucky ^^

Great report, commander. The table pics are really informative, your turn-by-turn isn’t completely clear but sells the important information, and the video inclusions are simply fun. I agree wholeheartedly that the Durgama campaign is a great incentive to play infinity again. 200 points has been our gaming group’s go-to as well for the campaign – I think you’ve made the right call there. Congratulations as well on the win.

Nice, congrats on the win. I like your conclusions at the end.
