The unrelenting assault of the Combined Army forces at the Raveneye Station has left its defenders weary and frightened. Tensions were at their peak following multiple hit-and-run attacks from Speculo Agents and Greif Operators, with former comrades suspecting each other of being enemy spies. Some of the fresh Ariadnan recruits never tasted real battle before and were now thrown into the midst of raging conflict, encountering bizarre and logic-defying technology on the other side of the barricade. Some of the fortunate souls that withstood the initial attack on the Starboard Battery were now transferred to reinforce PanOceanian forces in the Bow Section. Hardened by their initial encounter with the enemy forces lead by the Umbra Samaritan Nourkias and a hulking mass of steel and biomuscles in the form of the Anathematic, they thought they were ready for what the Combined Army wanted to throw at them during their series of unyielding assaults. Their tactics, honed by the master tactician colonel Voronin, even lead to the identification of a Greif Operator, giving the Ariadnan forces from the Tartary Army Corps an initial boost to their morale. However, as the battle drew closer, smiles faded and were replaced by stern looks of focus and preparedness.

Dark mist enveloped the room. Out of it emerged a hulking mass of steel and biomuscles, hosting a piece of the EI itself. The Charontid slowly walked through the destroyed crew quarter, pushing away bunk beds through its sheer mass and strength, as if oblivious to the surrounding reality. On the other end of the room stood a tall figure, clad in black and red robes, with a pale face showing underneath its hood. The two presumably communicated, although no words were spoken. The Charontid suddenly snapped back to reality, looked at the stern face of its co-commander Nourkias and slowly pointed at the door leading towards the Ariadnan defenders’ positions. The same mist enveloped the room once again and soon after the Umbra Samaritan was gone. The Charontid continued walking at a steady pace towards the defenders’ positions, its weapon loaded and ready to fire. The rest of the Combined Army forces moved into positions, reporting readiness for combat one after the other. Through the station’s pipes and ventilation systems echoed growls and grunts of multiple Shasvastii beasts.

I won the LT roll and elected to go first, hoping to get some kills early on. Things, however, didn’t exactly work out as planned.

Honestly speaking, I’m the only one to blame for my Greif being stuck in one place for the whole game – I taught my opponent the Strelok minelayer trick and paid the price lol

Outside of the little stumble though, the game began in the usual fashion – Taighas rushed forward. Three Taighas then decided to hang around in front of my DZ and one went forward aiming for the Line Kazak ML but failing to secure the kill (the bastard tanked the save). A Daturazi wasn’t in the mood to land smoke and needed three orders to land it on 17s, but finally managed to do so – Charontid then moved up and put a Frontovik AP sniper unconscious and wounded a Vet Kazak. Generally my first turn was quite uneventful, with the only kills being a Warcor and a Frontovik – but I was in a decent defensive position ready to withstand Ariadna’s assault.

My opponent’s T1 was spent on clicking the console with an Irmandinho and moving a Dog-Warrior to my deployment zone – the poor doggo then proceeded to fail 3/3 saves, one from a mine and two from chainrifles/colts, in return only killing a synchronized Preta – my opponent got really unlucky here, not gonna lie. The rest of TAK’s turn was spent on bringing the downed Frontovik back to life and reforming the haris – this proved to be quite effective, because nearly all of my impetuous troops were unable to move forward because they were seen by either the Frontovik or the Line Kazaks.

My T2 was also rather uneventful, with the Charontid killing one of the Line Kazaks, the Frontovik, again, and finally dealing with the Vet Kazak, a Taigha killing the Dynamo and the Caliban clicking the console – Nourkias then moved up the field a bit and got ready to potentially kill and murder stuff during later turns. It might be useful here to mention that we decided to drop the Data Erasure special program because it gave unfair advantages to the already-strong CA – hence Nourkias was actually unable to hurt the servers in any way.

My opponent’s turn 2 was spent on his Spetsnaz parachutist coming in, moving around my defenses and… failing to destroy the console – it decided to roll unusually high and survived with 1 STR point.

At the beginning of my turn 3 I killed the Spetsnaz with an Oznat. The Charontid then cleared the path for the Caliban by blowing the other Line Kazak away, leaving the nasty alien predator to do whatever he wanted to the server. He, in the end, decided to blow the thing up, straight to hell, no STR remaining, pretty much securing the win right there. The rest of my turn 3 was then spent on my sad attempts to kill the other Irmandinho who, somehow, managed to survive two or three orders of shooting from the Charontid and ducked away to safety.

During my opponent’s final turn the Irmandinho made a run for the console but sadly got blown away by my T-Drone, securing a 10-2 win for the Combined Army.

The two MVPs of the match - the Charontid (still early wip) and the Caliban
Shot of some of the troops taking part in the assault
The all-important LT roll
My deployment before the reserves
Charontid fighting the world
Typical Taigha carnage + a Strelok minelayer blocking the Greif from moving
The Caliban moving in to destroy the console (please ignore the Evil Tohaa pin on it lol)
