Durgama Takeover

It was lieutenant Xiangs first command. She had felt elated when it was given to her. She had been training for so long. She had gone through scenario after scenario with instructors. She was ready.

Dissapointed…though, maybe? She had heard the scuttlebutt of information lately. The combined army would strike the white banner she was being assigned too and bounce off. She was told it would be an easy assignment. She was being given a couple experienced soldiers in the field. She was wanting more…and by the gods was she going to regret that desire by the morning…

So this battle report is really hard for my to type up. Primarily because oh. My. Gods. Every dice roll I made would basically fail and my opponent would succeded at everything. It was just gross. My first turn I lost nearly a third of my army… so let’s begin!

Combined wins initiative…again.
I chose to make them deploy first and I chose my table side. They dig in. I dig in. I always try to use these games to show off new units while keeping a staple of old. It helps broaden how we both play…well the daofei was new for me this game and he utterly ate it immediatly.

Turn one for the combined was to roll up and take the large garage on my left flank, while moving some on the right. We share some pot shots but nothing really comes about. He discovered my beasthunter while doing some shenanigans and his named umbra chucked his sword at the hunter while she heavy flamed back. He also ate the mine. He took a wound from it but was otherwise fine with NWI.

My turn one…oh gods where to begin. Well. My beast hunter moved over to the loot box and got grenades then the door and opened it. Off to the side. One of his close combat shavasti dodged into cc with my beast hunter. Second order we throw down and NBW saved me from martial arts level 3. And 2 swings with an EXP sword ended the shavasti before he could eat me to gain wounds. I felt ok by this. Then I walked the corner and heavy flamed two shavasti types and a drone. They took out my beast hunter without a second glance but at least the drone went unconscious 1. Well….there goes one way to hit the ac2. So I move my daofei over. He gets Vulcan shotgunned in camo going past the door and promptly failed 3 rolls in a row. There goes my second way to kill the ac2. My guiliang activated and got a panzerfaust from the other loot box. Then camos up again. My Shang Ji engages the sphynx in long range fire. Gets put down. My ye mao does the same. Gets unconcious 1. My sniper from my link was waxed by the sphynx on their first turn so my link activates to get in better positions. My rui shi moves to a better point and it’s now round two.

Oh by the emperor, it had all gone wrong. Her comm was erupting with shouts of pain and death and alarm. Every action was resulting in a mess. The sniper she was told would take good care of her was cut down by heavy alien fire. Then the beast hunter merc who was “meritted” was killed, at least she did some good. Their warcor was done. Seriously?! Why would aliens attack the poor non combative! Savages. The daofei was killed. Oh Gods those men and women were nightmares given form what hellacious beast did the aliens bring that could kill one? She was trying her best to give shakey orders to regroup. To save face. She still had some assets on the field. It would be ok!

Oh how that was such a niave fever dream…

Turn two went more of the same, bloody bloody fighting. The combined fire team ran up to fight, and fortunately I was able to kill the named character as he left the building. I failed to get the other 3 members of the team however. He was setting up for some classifieds I was sure. And his sphynx ran up and took down my long ya and the mines it dropped to discourage its advance. It then positioned for a strong push up.

My turn went by quickly. My doc ran over to get the warcor up. Medical drugs instead killed her. She then rushed to get the Shang ji up. Again..two hits with the b from fireteam bonus but two 18s rolled for the ph check…dead Shang ji. Ouch. She went for a third and only hit once on the ye mao but thankfully…she got up. She then dodged behind the building on the right and set up for three…the blood bloody three.

Things smoothed out. It was…unfortunate that the doc did more harm then heal there. But it would be ok. Yeah. It would all be fine. The Ye mao was back, she would know what to do. With the advice from the ye mao they all bricked up around the ac2. Defend it at all costs. Lt Xiang didnt know how they were going to stop a sphynx If it rushed the line but…they would have to deal with that as it came…

Turn 3. The blood continues.
Combined pushed hard for a win. The sphynx ran up and climbed up the walkway. It got shot a few times but it wasnt effective. It then went to discover the guiliang. It succeded. Oh well all or nothing time. Putting all the fire I could muster I actually managed to survive. And at the end of it the sphynx was down and my opponents fireteam only had the guy with the Vulcan shotgun left! Sure he was in a great position but…oh and now doctor worm comes running out. And gets a hail Mary shot on the spynhx. And it’s up. And oh god its shooting again. This is ok. We got this…nothing doing! Its alive and it goes to my turn

Well crap! I see two ways to victory and they are not pretty. First I have to deal with the spynhx and the vulcan shotgun dude. My ye mao moves over and goes to shoot him. Well crap. She is unconcious now. My fire team moves to medical shot her….and she’s dead. Well there goes my plot to win! Fire team goes and kills the vulcan guy outright. Guiliang drops the sphynx thank god. And I get the idea my guiliang can score capture hvt (surprise. He cant) so he eats the rest of my orders going for a drone on the flank. He drops it. Its not dead and when he gets in silhouette contact…gets taken out bu doctor worm from a mile away!

Game ends! He scored his hvt. I scored more loot boxes. Neither ac2 touched. And we had 49 and 43 points left. Fricken. Bloody.
