Perks of being a merc? You tell me doc, but one thing I can tell, judging by my experience, is being able to move behind the enemy lines – sometimes for a strategic objectives that look like completely irrelevant from what your employer seek for.

The 4th, after being defeated to Morats, gathered what they could and moved to Gekidan in unmarked transports. The decision was not exactly in line what the High Command had in their mind, but sure, Yu Jing always held grudge against the Japs, vice versa. Being a Tohaa, and a merc does require you to be knowledgeable about current political affairs.

I reckon those fellows were not expecting us to come. Embarked in a 18 wheeler truck and two commercial vans, our guys and girls (and others) rammed through outer wall of the parking lot located next to Gekidan Research Park. Nevertheless, thanks to their training, the Japanese folks could manage themselves to scramble in a remarkable time, greeting us in their best forms.

Since our Kosuil did not make it from the last battle, Neema teamed up with a Taagma – who would know what’s in her mind – and our Draal, who is a seasoned marksman and a classic cloak-and-dagger operative. We had reports about infiltrators may be in the game, so a Chaksa was deployed to sensor things around, standing back to back with this Warcor who just joined up. It didn’t took so long until the Motorized Bounty Hunter, who is a local professional lined up with the Yu Jing Army. On the right, the Kriigel Agent, with his graceful tactical-gesture, ordered the Reex with a marksman rifle loaded with K1 rounds to provide overwatch over the road. Two helots in disguise were placed in their spots to look over crucial locations.

The fun part…one of the Kiiutan, for some reason, failed to impersonate and move behind their ranks! You should have seen his look, awkwardly walking out from our truck (guess he forgot his task). Lucky for us, the other two impersonators, who disguised as one of the Japanese security unit successfully managed to seep amongst them.

What else? Japanese folks were interesting – in a sense that they brought out a Core team of Keisotsus and few remotes. One of our folks managed to identify some well-known faces; Oda Yuriko and Oyama “Neko” was among them. You would know that things will soon be in a hot shit as you see them. I liked the shiny look of that mechanized cyberninja, in a Haris with the Neko and a grim looking android.

They took the preemptive so us employees took some damage; dunno what the guy did but something went wrong, our Greif became the first to be killed, soon Kiiutan to follow. Thanks to that the Neko and his Haris could move with grace, exchanging some fires with forward deployed Draal. Her mine struck the Karakuri, forcing it to retreat, while another MBH hired to the Gekidan Security Unit fired her Red Fury with our Helot. While the guy provided a barrage of shock rounds, killing their MBH at last, our Kriigel team could move with less worries in their mind. They soon basically went in a lockdown with one of the Japanese Core team, making nor advances or retreats. At least Keesan took our console so there’s that.

By the same moment the Draal suffered a wound, and out of sudden some transparent sway jumped out of nowhere and sliced her in half. Neema recalls that moment as she saw poor girl’s body split apart with micro-explosions shining through her cuts. However thanks to our well-positioned personnel, it took a reasonable time to bring the ninja guy down, carving a path for Neema. By this moment, unless there are no surprises, we could gain the upper hand by holding what we already have and delaying their advances.

Which I think, in turn, made them nervous; the Japanese Core team rushed out to break through the Kriigel Triad. A missile flew at us, and Keesan, lucky enough, survived a shot and proned behind a car. The battle cam on Reex showed that Oda Yuriko tried to land few shots on them, but ultimately didn’t work as they expected. It was then when our Kiiutan who failed to impersonate moved to a better spot and placed one of his E/M Mine to virtually stop the Oyama coming closer. It was viable only because Neema rushed forward and put a bullet hole in the Shiikami’s head. If it was not her, things wouldn’t have worked out as planned. (Scratch that – our plan was already out of hands from the beginning)

Their Kempei rushed up to secure a console, until the friendly Warcor sends her flash pulse to him. With a scream he proned backwards, and it was then their Karakuri, with Oyama dead in the midway, made its (her?) final run to our console. At least I liked seeing the android crushing through a wave of electromagnetic pulse, as if a wave crushing against rocks – until it is finally brought down by 9 shots of SMG rounds. It sure did took some shots.

While the Japanese retreat, we came to realize one thing – that this would be the beginning of our next moves.
