[Combat Report from Kosmoflot Orbital Assault Corps: Raveneye Bow Comms Center]

[BEGIN REPORT]

In compliance with ICAF-mandated requests for assistance repelling the Combined Army assault on the Raveneye Bow module, the Orbital Assault Corps was dispatched to eliminate VooDooTech AI that had been downloaded to Raveneye’s network. I must urgently express that my team’s engagement with PanOceanian forces in this area was extremely regrettable and that it is with a heavy heart that we open fire against our brothers in arms. Nevertheless, our explicit orders were to eliminate any and all opposition presented en route to our target due to the urgency and dire severity of the mission.

We first came under fire from PanOceanian Neocapitaline Army units as we approached the target servers. Contact was first made by a Locust unit who had attempted to kill a Polaris unit with breaker fire after destroying a nearby cargo vehicle for some nebulous purpose. Somewhere in the crossfire as the Polaris deployed a defensive smokescreen, a Hexa operative was able to eliminate a hidden SAS unit that was attempting to disable the Locust. As soon as it appeared, the Hexa seemingly melted back into thin air.

Our forward advance was immediately halted by a full fireteam of Bolts that had taken up an overwatch position that offered them an unparalleled vantage point to pin our forces down. Admittedly, I cannot think of a way that our team would have been able to engage the team in any reliable conventional manner that would have not ended in disaster.

It’s too bad for those Bolts that we don’t fight fair. Following the past success of close orbital drops in combat zones across the station, our newest asset was deployed to strike at the enemy rear lines. While our enemies have no doubt learned to expect our famed Paracommando operatives, I suspect the sudden and violent arrival of a Wulver bounty hunter was a major surprise. Wulff announced his arrival in dramatic fashion – by killing an Aleph Deva (which we suspect was leading this team) in a hail of MULTI rifle fire. He attempted to then engage a Bolt sniper from behind, but the enemy was able to return fire with uncanny speed and instead sent him scrambling for cover.

But we were just getting started. The Bolts were in for an even nastier surprise when Uxia McNeil broke concealment on the sniper nest, assault pistols blazing, and killed the Bolt sniper without taking return fire. She was a maelstrom of gunfire and death as she worked her away across the rooftop, cutting down the Bolt holding a missile launcher next. Diving clear of the third Bolt’s shotgun fire, she closed the gap and began to fight in close combat.

Our successful breakthrough did not come without price, however. In the chaos ensuing on the enemy rooftop, the enemy Hexa had managed to sneak past our defenders without detection. Though a Polaris was able to blow the Hexa away when she finally revealed herself, it was too late – the hacker had managed to upload a malicious program that wiped out our tactical server in one blow. Across the battlefield, Wulff managed to get himself targeted by an enemy hacker and was downed with almost inhuman ease by one of the remaining Bolts.*

What followed next was as confusing as it was chaotic. Uxia had managed to kill the Bolt she had been engaging, which had finally put an end to the enemy chain of command structure. A moment later, a fireteam composed of a Fusilier, CSU, and someone that looked the spitting image of Shona Carano began to run from cover without even attempting to defend themselves. Unbothered by the finer details, Volkolak Grisha targeted the team and destroyed them with a well-placed missile, save for a confusingly unhurt CSU operative.

I realized that the enemy was beginning to prepare for a full retreat, and that our time was limited. In a daring joint strike, our USAriadna Ranger made a mad dash for a comms terminal that allowed us to pinpoint the server hosting the malware we were after. The moment the target was located, a Polaris unit was dispatched to eliminate it, which it did with its hallmark destructive talent.

While I regret to fire on allied forces, I am pleased to report that all told, we were able to destroy the Combined AI in the nick of time. Our mission was a complete success, if a costly one.

From what I understand, our part in this damned conflict is finally played out. I suppose sometime soon, the entire Human Sphere will see what happened here. I just hope we did enough.
