With information of potentially sabotaged Durian supplies being sent to Xiandao, it has become apparent that the DIU needs more inspection agents and better inspection agents. In an effort to accomplish both in one fell swoop, Imperial Agents are dispatched to Alfutna to coordinate with the local Haqq’Islamite garrison to provide training in inspection and protocol in a hostile shipping environment.

With several cargo shipments awaiting the go-ahead, the two security forces had a very limited time window for their exercise as the drivers unfortunate enough to have been caught unaware of the exercise were treated to the Fiteer buffet in the Haqqi debriefing room.

Adopting the role of belligerent, the noble and experienced inspection agent Xi ordered a final inspection that less-lethal ammunition had been loaded and notified the Aleph aspect to assume command while the Haqqi forces spread out around the road block office in anticipation of the ISS assault.

Turn One.

Not wanting to lose the impetuous by the Imperial Service forces setting up taking full advantage of their Multispectral Visors, the experienced Haqq inspection commander ordered their espionage assets to commence an assault on the Service forces.
Unfortunately with the intended target being in such a target rich environment that even the reliable less-lethal Service ammunition might risk being deadly from the sheer amount of crossfire, the Fiday inspector opted to move to the other flank and attempt to take out the secondary Deva directing the Dakini contingent.

After a very short gunfire battle, the inspection leadership switched the Dakini Paramedic carrying the specialised Durian extraction equipment off, determining it had suffered what would have been disabling damage. For their part, the Fiday was informed that the sniper currently loaded with colourful paint bullets was normally loaded with fast acting neural toxins and that even the minor hit on the Fiday's exposed left hand would have been fatal.

The Deva for their part activated and rushed through the train, sending a short quantronic burst to the remaining Dakini to take up position and clear as many hacking assets from the left flank as possible, eventually paving the way for the Su-Jian. The Deva herself took out the Haqq soldier holding the extracted suspected infected Durian in the middle of the ZO.

At the end of the turn the Imperial agents acting the belligerents had moved forward to crowd up next to a truck. Xi himself took it upon him to spray the shipment in red paint marking it "obfuscated", the term they had agreed on to describe the belligerent successfully replacing the contaminated Durian with clean Durian, effectively covering their traces.

Turn two.

Noting that the Deva with the Spitfire was now in a position where they could not gain the benefit of the lush and thick forest area, the Haqq forces pushed forward to attempt to disable the Lhost. While technically successful, the Deva having been notified about their failed outcome in the firefight opted to duck being cover and mimic applying first aid.

With an opening left by the Deva hiding inside the train, the Haqq forces sent a commandeered Digger asset forward to take advantage of the Zian agents having lined up nicely in the mid-field. The agents on their part put faith in their equipment, trusting that the armour would hold against the inevitable hail from Chain Rifle fire, all shot at the Digger to disable them. While successful in taking out the Digger, the training exercise was halted for several minutes while the exercise leadership explained to the Bao Troopers just how unlikely their very light armour is to halt real bullets and just how much of a mess they would be in this situation if the Chain Rifle had been firing metallic chain filaments instead of polystyrene. While this was going on, Aida took the opportunity to lay more mines around the mid-field and the Barid troopers did some information network maintenance setting up more communications points.

After the brief correction, the Muyib felt impatient to get on with it and launched an assault on Xi's position. Focusing fire on the Celestial Agent, the Muyib took him down while taking some pretty concerning strikes to his own centre of mass from the Kuang Shi pistols. Gritting his teeth and telling exercise command to "stove it for the debriefing", the Muyib levelled his gun on Xi in an attempt to get the package to be dropped. Xi performing admirably in aiming his Flash Pulse, the Kuang Shi once again calmly lined up their pistol iron sights on centre of mass. Cursing very loudly, the Muyib stormed off towards the cantina for debriefing.

The way clear, Xi ordered his Kuang Shi to move forward to suppress the Barid, showing complete disregard for tactical positioning. Setting up a camp under one of the trees and filling the area with technically empty MadTraps for perimeter defence and letting the Kuang Shi do suicide runs on the mines in preparation to take the Durians lying on the ground.

At the mid field the Pheasant took the opportunity to run forward and extract the last Durian package. Unfortunately this found the Pheasant in an unfavourable position, hunkering down besides a transformation station and the tracks, unable to get a good angle to retreat to relative safety.

"Why is aggression always the answer from you numbnuts? Shoot them always, maybe kick them, but never ask question, huh!?"

Turn three.

With the Cantina urgently calling in that they could no longer keep up with demand as a particularly angry Muyib was currently raiding the buffet and that some drivers were filtering back towards their vehicles, there wasn't much time left for the exercise.

Aida rushed forward to secure the evidence package that had been lying on the ground for a while, while the last Mutta'whia was sent forward to take out the Pheasant agent. The Pheasant did their best at evading the Mutta'whia's shotgun fire, but eventually her armour sensors informed her of a "concerning skin penetration" in the area between the second and third rib.

With exercise command about ready to call the exercise off as a dead draw, Xi sent a quick ping to the Su-Jian controller "this is your chance to shine, just go pick up the package".
"Roger that" was the answer the Su-Jian trooper sent back according to his own report, though Xi tactfully later wrote into the report that the response had appeared to have been "jammed" with a "spicy" program making it unintelligible.

Whether the Su-Jian pilot had been taking advantage of the remote control privileges to do an early raid on the Shawarma rack or not, the limited AI of the Su-Jian could easily manage to move over to the package and pick it up.

Debriefing

And with that, we conclude that the belligerent side was able to falsify evidence of their Durian contamination activity sufficiently that we would have lost the important initial lead on their activities. We conclude that we must work more effectively together and move as a team to set up a perimeter once we've secured the package - mm, this fiteer needs more syrup, yes more, don't look at me like that - as we could see it was costly losing control of the package once it was extracted. Using terrain to your advantage once again proved to be extremely potent and losing that advantage was immediately punished.

As a small note; the map picked was quite literally the first IGL map with "Supplies" in its name. The rather large areas with Poor Visibility and Saturation was very impactful, but I still felt that (after we noticed there was a second state for those areas) it added a lot to the map without putting my force (having the only two MSV) in too much of an advantage.

Hahaha! Excellent report, commander! My Muyib was indeed rather disappointed to have left the exercise early, but that is what happens when you act so rashly!
