Introduction

The forest breathed a heavy sigh, wind dancing. The bouquet of light through the leaves was delicate, peaceful. I - Desek (Lieutenant) Mohu was tasked with leading my first platoon into battle. The campaign so far had been fierce, intense and grueling, and while the lust for battle was real, the reprieve was kind to weary bodies.

Now a Suryat, my initial mission was to be simple. Scout out the area, look for sites of interest that might contain an "object," something the EI was looking for. It was guiding us, informing us of bounty, both in battle and in bodies. We knew what we had to do.

Without fanfare, the forest ended suddenly, leading way to an odd and eclectic assortment of buildings. I held a fist to the air, my charges stopped. We all held our breaths. Without needing direction, my Kurgat reached for a rangefinder.

Despite the lack of connection, poor infrastructure, and its hidden nature, this remote area seemed to have a surprising number of Humans.

"Tretok, report," I called, quitely to finish the survey before the inevitable attack.

"Desek, I scout no more than 10 troops on the periphery. However, they are heavily armored and seem to be moving in functional units. This will be tough. I expect losses. However, we may be able to open the way for the other So (divisions)."

"Any plans of attack?"

"Desek, With the platforms we've brought, I would recommend stalwart defense. Entrench and let the enemy come to us. With suprior position, we can then flank them with a second wave. Our Dartok will attempt to patch through and lower their defenses, and the hungries should scatter them. That leaves us to act as the bait."

"Perfect. I love a challenge. Sumi na Rat"

"Sumi na Rat, Desek."

Deployment

We were quick, with our central force, ready to handle the incoming wave of steel and flesh, flanking forces set up to prevent routes from the side. Unforunately, it would seem that their sensors must have detected us, and were already in a position to move forward. Their action would be swift, and their guns appeared deadly. We were ready nontheless.

Turn 1 - Invincible Army

Unexpectedly, it would appear that the enemy has plans of their own. Completely ignoring the main contingent, a troop dropped from the sky, lifted on wings of steel. it would appear that his only goal was to scan our supplies, the hungries and bring back data. This could not be stood for.

Unfortunately, it was outside of our view, they were practiced at data extraction. The information was theirs, but we would still win the day. I would make sure of this.

On detection of our troops, however, he decided a direct approach would be the most likely to succeed, and charged forward. To what we would presume was his doom.

The surprise to my oznat came in that the preta's fire was just not sufficient to the opponent, his armor withstood the heat and pressure. The gaki was pressed to move up, but he seemed too stupid to understand in the moment. There was just too much going on before him.

This battle did provide cover for the enemy to bring up their remotes and put them into position. He was entrenched, and put them in a position of power. We had work to do.

With the east flank secured, this left the human fireteam to move and begin their press forward. Their leader stepped down from his post, leaving the one behind him open. With an easy shot, I opened fire on her. 2 shots hit, but both seemed to fly off her armor.

This didn't make sense. Since when have our bullets not pierced? What are they doing here? Are they stealing our technology?

Kusit... Firing on the other members left me open...

His feuerbach stuck with suprising precision and intensity, knocking me straight off my feet. My vision tunneled... My head pounded and all I could hear was ringing, along with the sounds of fire going on around me.

I couldn't tell what was going on, but I knew I had the support of those around me. The would finish the mission. We would prevail. We would open the way for the others...

Turn 1 - Morats

Without me to give orders... things got slightly more chaotic... fortunately, we had stalwart defenders, veterans in my platoon. They would continue to fight, they refuse to run in the face of danger...

Our hungries acted, charging up and attempting to tear apart the hacker that was stealing our information. you could see it in their eyes. They wanted blood. They were starving, and only battle would slate them.

With one final push, the hungry managed to finally tear through the armor, ripping flesh. ultimately, this ended the both of them, collapsing lifelessly together, but the threat was finally down.

I looked up to see our Rindak hovering over me, holding a hand out to help me back up. I don't know what he did, but that Rat works magic. This put us back into a position of firepower superiority. I rose quickly, calling in our Rasyat. It had work to do in the back field.

He deftly moved up and punched the bot into oblivion. It gave us the information we needed to start to tear down their armor. This would be passed back to the EI to assist in future missions. For now, though, we needed to break the enemy before us.

The battle was fierce, heat from the guns seemed to boil the air. We managed to injure two of their troops, but we still couldn't put one down. Our dartok managed to fire his network into the middle of them, but they were just to challenging to hack. The task seemed impossible, how could these humans endure so much bullet fire?

Turn 2 - Invincible Army

Time was running short. We had succeeded in opening the way for our comrades, but we would need to find a way to escape safely.

Unforunately, they had a different idea.

The leader of their group stepped straight up and fired another 2 shots at me. Again I was brought down. Again, the world seemed to close around me. Again, I lost my focus. Again, the battle disappeared...

I don't think I will get to wake up this time...

Debrief

First off, want to apologize for not having painted models yet - I had just finished assembling my morats like 2 days prior to this game.

This ended up being a 5-2 victory for Morats over Invincible army, a rather pyrric one though. Final unit count was 142-206. We were taking the game slow, I was helping teach invincible army to a degree, learning Morats myself, and providing a lot of insight into how to move a 5 man fireteam. More than anything, this was a friendly learning game that only went halfway through turn 2 due to time. I had managed to take out his hacker and his forward oberver in the end, so completing more cards would have been difficult for him.

I had also opted not to try to run the board with the rasyat in the back, as I don't think that would really have been fair against morats for the first time when you're still coming to grips with the intricacies of the game. I was a really fun game overall (despite the fact that he rolled 17's constantly for armor saves) and I just could not put anyone on his fireteam down to save my life. Loss of lieutenant proved to be far more palatable as morats than other teams I'd played with before. I was a lot of fun! Thank you all for reading.
