The following is information regarding HEATSHIELD's engagement of hostile NOMAD forces near Starboard Battery Rail Cannon.

Duration of Operation: Began July 21 1700 hours and ended July 21 2054 ( 3 hours and 54 minutes )

Scope of Operation: Guard approach to Raveneye Starboard Battery Rail Cannon and engage any COMBINE ARMY and/or hostile human forces

We relieve SWORDPOINT from [ REDACTED ] at 1659 hours. Pvt. [ REDACTED ] of the Special Air Service (S.A.S.) and
Cpl. [ REDACTED ] of the Scots Guard 2nd Battalion are placed on sentry duty while the rest of the troop were interviewed by war correspondent Cindra Lillian.

Contact with Nomad forces occurs at 2038 hours. Pvt. [ REDACTED ] spots them first and relays their position. 1 fireteam of 2 AGUAICILEs lead by an EVADER moving up the right with two more potentially concealed Nomads on top of the two story structure opposite our own and on top a one story structure in the far back left respectively.

Lt. [ REDACTED ]'s ROKOT fireteam, with VOLKOLAK Heavy Machine Gunner LCpl. [ REDACTED ] in suppression, set-up defensively along the right flank at the foot of the two story structure nearest our position to oppose the Nomad fireteam.
Pvt. [ REDACTED ] conceals herself above them in a vantage point to survey the area with Cpl. [ REDACTED ] keeping watch of the left flank also from concealment. Para-Comando Pvt. [ REDACTED ] went on a spacewalk to find an advantageous insertion window.

In accordance with the Rules of Engagement (RoE) of International Concilium Assistance Force (ICAF), we broadcast to the Nomads to stand down but they don’t comply. Instead their fireteam pushes up the right. We hold our positions until the EVADER takes aim at Cpl. [ REDACTED ] who breaks concealment to dodge but to no avail. The EVADER then dispatched him while he’s unconscious.

Without exposing herself to return fire, Pvt. [ REDACTED ] surprises the AGUAICILE fireteam with a grenade as they ascend the stairs knocking one unconscious. Pvt. [ REDACTED ] arrives from an airlock and moves to outflank the remain AGUAICILE but is spotted and knocked unconscious. LCpl. [ REDACTED ] moves up our fireteam to push back the Nomads but are halted after getting flashed pulsed and fired upon by a SOMBRA that just revealed itself on top of the 2 story structure opposite us. LCpl. [ REDACTED ] loses his composure a little and opens fire with the HMG at the Nomads WARCORE and SOMBRA. He succeeds in knocking out the first but is unable to harm or even displace the second, suffering a wound during the protracted exchange. War correspondent Cindra Lillian is attacked by a newly revealed INVADER and the SOMBRA while attempting to capture some of the fighting from a distance and is saved by her flash pulse.

The Nomads go back on the offensive. While SOMBRA fires on our fireteam, killing Pvt. [ REDACTED ] and pining it in place, the EVADER continues to makes its way up to attack Pvt. [ REDACTED ]. She waits for him and dodges his combi-rifle fire to engage him in close combat. The Nomads seem to panic and open fire wounding the EVADER before Pvt. [ REDACTED ] finishes the job. Much the same happens with the remaining AGUAICILE before she crosses under fire to the other structure to engage the SOMBRA while suppressing it. Unfortunately the SOMBRA anticipates Pvt. [ REDACTED ] movements and manages to kill her. The SOMBRA now crosses the buildings unopposed and attempts to set up to engage our link team.

Fortunately, Pvt. [ REDACTED ] sacrifice buys us the chance for our fireteam to go back on the offensive. LCpl. [ REDACTED ] spots a HELLCAT through the blizzard created by the Rail Cannons cooling system and eliminates the threat. Following this,
Lt. [ REDACTED ] commands him to engage the SOMBRA with grenades. It takes two good throws to finally kill it.

Combat Ends at 2046 hours. The INTRUDER is allowed to escape while we treat the wounded and recover the dead. We call for medevac and are later relived by FROSTBITE at 2054 hours

Cpl. [ REDACTED ] death is the result of bad tactical positioning and poor operational planning. He shouldn’t have been caught in the open like that and should instead have taken cover. Furthermore the Nomads rapid approach should have been more opposed. LCpl. [ REDACTED ]’s HMG should have been set-up in suppression 5 feet to the right of where it was to have a better firing arc.

Pvt. [ REDACTED ] extra-vehicular insertion was tactically poorly executed. He greatly overestimated the surprise factor of his arrival and placed himself in excessive risk. He should have been kept in reserve longer. Fortunately he will be making a full recovery.

LCpl. [ REDACTED ] near total immunity to bullets and disciplined overwhelming firepower is fitting of a son of Dawn. Even after suffering a wound in battle his vigour and determination make him a solid foundation upon which to build a strong fireteam. For that reason I recommend him for promotion to the rank of Corporal. See Appendix A for attached still from war correspondent Cindra Lillian of LCpl. [ REDACTED ] unwavering discipline.

Pvt. [ REDACTED ]’s conduct in the face of danger was nothing short of heroic. She not only single handedly denied the Nomad fire team a strategically vital elevated position but even completely dismantle it. She also went above and beyond to suppress the SOMBRA and bravely give her life for her comrades and our homeland. I insist Pvt. [ REDACTED ] be immediate promotion to the rank of Sergeant and consider for a Hero of Dawn medal. See attached Appendix B for stills from war correspondent Cindra Lillian of Pvt. [ REDACTED ] heroic actions.

Although severe casualties where sustained, HEATSHIELD was successful in guarding the approach to the Starboard Rail Cannon from [ REDACTED ] repelling a force of Nomads in the process before being relieved early by [ REDACTED ] at 2054.
