Good morning, command. What follows is my report of the skirmish that occurred outside the Xiandao Neosteelworks between my SWORDFOR unit and a heavy infantry detachment of the Yu Jing Invincible Army. We find ourselves pulled back to the Zebu outpost to fend off another attack, so I’ll keep my report brief.

Of note was the performance of Raveneye Officer Adams, whom I will certainly recommend for commendation after this conflict is over. The ALEPH assets on loan far outperformed many of our own SWORDFOR assets, and I request new betatrooper models as our units have taken significant damage.

Following is my report on what occurred in the skirmish.

-Lieutenant Colonel “HackKnee”, SWORDFOR

Deployment

Yu Jing won the initiative roll, and decided to go first. He deployed a powerful Haris on his left flank- Krit Kokram, Shang Ji (APHMG), and Shang Ji (HRL). On his right flank he had a Zuyong fireteam haris with two wildcard Haidao (hacker and red fury). Behind he had a number of support units including a Daoying hacker in camo.

I took deployment, and deployed on the side with more cover second.I deployed a security fireteam haris on the roof of the main compound, with two raveneye officers and one kappa sniper. Noteworthy is the second raveneye officer was deployed alone on the right flank. I deployed a betatrooper fireteam core with betatrooper KHD, Parvati, Epsilon, Psi-Cop HD, and Hector (plasma rifle) mostly inside the building and prone. The Psi-Cop hacker was on the roof in an attempt to defer any aggressive tactics with hacking AROs.

Turn One

Yu Jing started off strong, moving the Shang Ji fireteam up and blasting the Kappa sniper unconscious in two orders. With no O-12 models watching the table, they proceeded to spend several orders moving up the table towards the O-12 right flank. Krit walked around the corner of the compound wall, spotting both a varangian and also the raveneye officer- the varangian threw a smoke, and the raveneye placed an E/M mine. Crit dropped two chain rifles and killed the Varangian, but the Raveneye survived both. The raveneye was then able to drop an E’Marat template on the fireteam next turn, frying the Shang Ji APHMG before finally going unconscious to a bullet. Krit engineered the Shang Ji, and blew up a piece of scenery to obtain his first classified objective. The fireteam knocked the Epsilon and Betatrooper unconscious before entering suppression in the O-12 deployment and ending the YJ turn.

O-12, starting on the backfoot, immediately pulled out the big guns. I had the remaining fireteam members form up on Hector, and shoot the suppressing Shang Ji. Two crits and 8 saves later, the Shang Ji was ashes. One more order, and so was Krit Kokram and the other Shang Ji- plasma rifle put in some work. Parvati spent several orders (and a command token) picking up the betatrooper, epsilon, varangian, and raveneye officer. Parvati scored the “experimental drug” card this way. My lawkeeper attempted to push up the board, and failed. He and his sidepot pal died in an ill fated attack on the Zuyong haris.

The first turn ended with score 1-1

Turn Two

Yu Jing began the second turn with a push from the Daoying hacker, moving up and pulling off a surprise hack on Hector just outside the ZOC of the Psi-Cop hacker. He managed to isolate Hector in a single order, and pulled back- but not before making a WIP check on my nearby raveneye- scoring another card. He pushed up to the midfield with the Zuyong haris, managing to kill a varangian and my Psi-Cop hacker with the red fury.

O-12 turn was short and brutal, as I started in loss of lieutenant- I quickly moved to engineer Hector with Parvati, and Hector managed to get 3 shots with his plasma rifle on the Haidao red fury, killing it. The Epsilon HMG was able to kill the Daoying hacker before it could retreat back, and all other units simply moved up the table.

The second turn ended 1-2, in favor of Yu Jing

Turn Three

Yu Jing was quick to try to cement it’s advantage- moving a palbot up to secure it’s third card, scoring another objective by making a WIP check with it’s doctor on an O-12 HVT. He then began a last ditch push with his lieutenant to shut down Hector or Parvati- dodging an E/M mine, and knocking Parvati unconscious with a lucky critical hit.

O-12 began it’s last turn down two objective points, and down most of my specialists. My betatrooper KHD moved up the table, managing to down an enemy model with his nanopulser and secure the “HVT:Espionage” objective on a Yu Jing HVT. Hector moved into contact with the unconscious YJ lieutenant, scoring “capture”. Finally, the star player raveneye officer managed to use the last two orders to score two forward observer rolls against a Yu Jing HVT- scoring “HVT: Designation”!

The final score was 4 cards to 3 cards, in favor of O-12!

Shout out to my opponent, Sneaky Snake- who not only took his awful dice well, but also helped me see that I could score my last card and win. I had no idea until he pointed it out, I would have just tied!

I really enjoyed my first real O-12/Starmada game, looking forward to playing more!

The final objectives scored by O-12, putting them one card ahead! It was a close game!
