Deployment: JSA win the roll off and force USA to deploy first. With three ryukens and several mines – not to mention a midfield oniwaban for a counterattack it feels like we can afford to weather going second for the advantages in the mission. The USA put down a haris of an hmg minuteman, a 112 and a marauder in the centre. On the right flank is a huge link of several heavy weapon grunts, wild bill, The unknown ranger and a paramedic. Two infiltrator grunts are placed one on each flank alongside a pair of camo tokens (obvious foxtrots are obvious). In response the ryukens go down facing off against the link teams and the rest of the army null deploys (prone and hidden) amongst a forest of mines from the ryukens and yuriko oda. The only exception is the tanko in the banzai haris with the flammenspeer. He remains standing to hopefully slow down anyone making a move for the deployment zone.

The last models to go down are another flamer grunt with infiltration who tries to land right in front of then banzai team but fails his roll – this is followed by yojimbo who takes up position on the right flank hoping to maybe get stuck into the big link if all goes well (it does).

Turn 1 USA

Minuteman moves forwards and ryuken reveals and shoots with rocket, hits whole team who dodge, unsuccessfully, minuteman lives but other two die.

Minuteman moves forwards and fires again. Crits and kills ryuken and remains out looking down the left flank.

Flamer grunt moves forwards and attempts a dodge but is shot down by tanko with contender – even at bad range that burst bs13 is no joke and counting on the suppression zone to make up for lack of cover did not work.

Right flank foxtrot moves forwards, and takes the console, they were discovered by tanko on second order (once out of cover) but successfully dodges behind cover where they can activate the console.

Hmg and sniper swap places with some prone shuffling. Hmg grunt fails (on two 12s) to discover ryukens at far end of field and goes prone in favour of sniper. Last orders of turn spent on long bomb grenades from grunt team into the tankos which all miss.

Turn 1 JSA

Yojimbo goes ham using his impetuous order, smoking off the foxtrot and chopping them in half before dodging out of lof of the flamer grunt and into the path of the linked grunt sniper.

The ryukens down the sniper grunt with a coordinated order allowing yojimbo to move around and knock the minuteman unconscious he then claims extreme prejudice card from them. The flamer grunt goes down to a koala as he attempts to dodge to get lof on yojimbo who ends the turn on the objective with another koala at the base of the building ready to go charging into the defensive link if they do anything…

USA turn 2

Unknown soldier comes out to fight yojimbo but gets caught by the two ryukens. One misses but the other gets a hit in which burns the ranger to death, yojimbo is killed when he fails his dodge and has to make 5 armour saves. However, the koala also goes off and kills the grenade launcher grunt who had been accurately identified as the lieutenant.

The remaining Foxtrot moves onto the left flank to grab the consoles there. Ryukens fire at him during last move as he comes out of camo but both miss. Infiltrator grunt moves forward to guard console on right flank.

JSA turn 2
Flashbot is moved to group 1 using command token as max orders will be needed to grab as many objectives as possible.
Ryuken kills foxtrot on objective, making up for last turn. Bounty hunter on bike has no aros up to stop them grabbing two of the objectives and easilly kills the grunt with heavy flamer by outranging them using red fury. Biker ends turn on enemy objective.

USAriadna player concedes as they have only 1 objective and are in loss of lieutenant. Any comeback now would only be immediately undone in next JSA turn and with the conclusion not in any real doubt we leave the game there.
