Yu Jing
Cmdr. Philip von Kruse
VS ALEPH
Captain Jag Kara

Committing to yet another training exercise, this time with a constant flow of new orders and objectives, the representative teams from Steel Phalanx and Invincible Army set up to commence an exercise that hopefully will not include gel-shots at family jewels. Aleph won first turn and started by throwing a fair few orders at eliminating the Zhencha, which eventually succeeded though at the cost of a wound on Hector, and advancing on their left flank. Trying to stall their momentum, the YJ commander throws down the Liu Xing on top of Hector and a Thorakites FO, but after lengthy melee, dies trying to yeet Hector. Then, the Yu Jing commander tries to use Tai Sheng to hit Hector, despite the odds and actually puts him into NWI. Afterwards, Hector goes prone and most of the action comes via. the Myrmidon force sent along that flank from earlier, but the Yu Jing troops manage to FO the enemy thorakites from earlier, as well as kill it, ensuring the match wasn’t with 0 points for Yu Jing. Sadly the flanking force, even though through much effort, manages to eventually wipe out the remaining Yu Jing forces, securing the victory for Aleph, putting an end to the training exercise.

Yu Jing brought:
Daoying Hacker LT +1
Liu Xing Boarding Shotgun
Tai Sheng Breaker Combi Rifle
Zuyong Paramedic
Zuyong base
Zhencha Hacker, boarding shotgun

Aleph brought:
Hector LT, Plasma Rifle
Thorakites Paramedic
Thorakites FO
Machaon Combi Rifle
Myrmidon Hacker combi rifle
Myrmidon Chain Rifle
Lamedh Rebot x2
Netrod x2

This training exercise is proudly sponsored by Palpatine Lobbying Inc. "We'll make it legal!"

Aleph deployed the Lamedh back to cover the deployment zone, the thorakites team in the middle to guard the right flank and Myrmidons to rush the left flank. The turret was placed in the center to hold the center. The rainforest zones were placed in the center by both parties.

YJ Deployment:
YJ placed the LT prone in the corner and the rest of the team protected them, most prone. The exception being the Zhencha protecting the left flank HVTs.

Aleph Turn 1:
Aleph draws Follow-up, rescue, and test run, replacing test run with in extremis.

Aleph starts by pushing Hector's team up the left flank, getting follow up on the YJ left flank HVT and then taking out the Zhencha, but taking a wound.

On the left flank, Machaon's team pushes up and puts pressure on the Zuyong, causing a wound.

YJ Turn 1:
Yu Jing draws telemetry to replace follow-up, then removes in extremis for predator.

Yu Jing then drops the Liu Xing onto Hector and the Thorakitai FO. They both dodge into melee with him and Hector kills the Liu Xing. At this point Tai Sheng starts trying to get telemetry on Hector, succeeds, but is targeted in return. She then shoots hector until he's wounded and goes prone. Then she kills the Thorakitai FO.

Aleph Turn 2:
Aleph draws sabotage to replace telemetry and removes it to draw extreme prejudice.

Aleph moves Machaon's team up to take out the entirety of Tai Shengs team, scoring both Extreme Prejudice and Predator.

Yu Jing Turn 2:
Yu Jing draws espionage and experimental drug. They remove experimental drug to deny a point to Aleph and draw identity check.

Yu Jing starts by having their Daoying oblivion the myrmidon hacker. At this point she tries to template Machaon and he dodges. She then tries again and he dodges into melee. Meanwhile the Myrmidon hacker resets out of the isolation.

Aleph Turn 3:

The Aleph commander gets Machaon to eliminate the Daoying, and afterwards gets an objective by using the Myrmidon hacker for the espionage objective. With no units left, the game ends on YJ's third turn in an Aleph victory.

Points-wise, the game ends with Aleph having 4 objectives and Yu Jing having 1. This comes to a 6-1 win in favour of Aleph

This one felt appropriate, even if the Liu Xing didn't accomplish a whole lot.

For all the “Steel Phalanx doesn’t do well in tournaments” I do really feel like they have some rather OP stuff available at times. Plasma rifles, eclipse grenades and ridiculous melee. Any one would be something to deal with of course, but would give the sectorial an edge in a department they can press, but all three? Potentially at the same time? Sheesh, it does really often feel like an uphill battle. At range they throw plasma. To close in they throw eclipse grenades that you can’t do anything about. And finally, when they get in close and personal, they stab with 27 CC due to Martial Arts L2. It feels difficult to find something to adequately counter the nude AI meat-puppets.

That is a shame. Hector is by all reports a hard target to put down. Wonderful photos once more Commander.

It’s always so sad when Liu Xing whiffs, can’t wait for the day that he strikes true!

Aye, we had intended to play at the old Gekidan location, but realized we would not have enough time. So, we played the new one.
