Durgama Takeover

*Disclaimer: This report is being written from a Nomad point of view. Also now that I've learned how formatting a battle report works I'm hoping this looks better than my first one (which I will probably go back and improve upon).

KinglyMathorne is my bro who helped me start the Infinity community at our FLGS and happy I got the chance to get a game in with him again after such a long time! We also played with red Classifieds on this mission, just for fun.

1500 Hours Local Time
Raveneye Orbital Complex over Concilium Prima

Navenka Bukowski, a Cheerkiller with the NN Nebuchadnezzar, nursed her bat as she and her two other comrades checked their weaponry. Fighting has been raging at the Port Battery for several days now and while the Nomads here are bloodied and bruised, their positions have so far held. Navenka had not yet fought the Combined Army on such a scale; Spectre Security & Dynamics, the small Tunguska-aligned company that she and her companions worked for, have spent most of their career doing the dirty work of the other nations of the Sphere. As such, it was strange -- almost incomprehensible -- to her that the Durgama Defense Coalition had managed to even be founded.

Sure, the fear of the Combined Army was shared amongst the whole of the Sphere and the destruction of the Módulo Satélite and damage done to the Corregidor unacceptable, but could the Nomad Nation really trust the other powers not to stab them in the back? As far as Navenka was concerned, they hated the Nomads. Experience taught her that any interaction that these self-proclaimed supra-nations had with the Nomads was merely transactional, nothing more.

"Navenka!" Hrvatina shouted to get her attention. "We're taking bets on which faction is going to fight us first. Marina thinks it's going to be the Pannies, but I from what I've heard they've really got their hands full fighting the CA in the bow. I think it'll be the State Army, their ISS branch."

Navenka merely shrugged, shouldered her bat and began to count out her SMG mags, "You ladies know me. I don't like to bet. Especially not on anything that makes light of our own lives."

"I told you she was no fun." Marina laughed as she flipped her multispectral visor over her eyes to calibrate it again. "You need to relax and have a laugh, Nav."

The trio of Cheerkillers finished kitting out and made their way to Spectre's command post near where the Nebuchadnezzar had docked. Dressed in her characteristic black and red suit stood Captain Elisavetta Kuzkina, leaning intently over a portable holo-table with other high-ranking members of the crew around her. The Captain had a subtlety concerned look on her face.

"Alright, everyone, gather around," she said as her commanders departed from the table so she could grab everyone's attention, "We have reports of contact on the rimward side of the Port Battery. It does not look like Combined."

Hushed murmurs began to spread and Hrvatina nudged Navenka in the side.

"Someone is trying to capitalize on our attention being drawn to fight the EI." Captain Kuzkina made a few motions in the air that connected her neural link to those of her crew. It displayed what available intelligence she had and the fragos being given to respective commanders. "Alright ladies and gents. You have your orders, now show these backstabbers why they're wrong."

Despite the surprise that O-12 has sprung on the Nomad Nation forces of the NN Nebuchanezzar, the soldiers of Spectre Security and Dynamics managed to seize the initiative against their attackers allowing them to position themselves in effective fields of fire.

Assembled into two fireteams, the Tunguska forces split to cover as much of the area of operations as possible.

On the left, a three-man Cheerkiller Haris led by Mary Problems aggressively moves up the field to take hold of a quadrant, covered by a Daktari controlling her Zondbots from cover. The maneuver allows Mary to get within Zone of Control to perform a pair of Designations against the enemy HVT and immediately putting Nomads on the board with one point.

Daria Seidel, a veteran Interventor of Spectre, leads her fireteam of Securitates on the right also accompanied by a Zondbot. Puppetmaster Miro Zhikov also assists Daria's advances with overwatch from his many Puppetbots.

As the two teams move forward, they make short work of the flash pulse Copperbots deployed to slow their advance.

With the majority of Spectre's forces maneuvering into position to react to the O-12 advance, the Nomads drop a surprise of their own into the fight -- Raoul Spector combat drops into the fray to confront the enemy on their own ground!

Although taking a wound himself as he aggressively pushes forward, Raoul goes NWI and wreaks havoc in the O-12 deployment zone with a pair of successfully thrown Drop Bears.

A Varangian taking cover from around the corner goes down as Raoul incapacitates the second Varangian and wounds the Omega Unit with blasts from his boarding shotgun.

A solid first turn for the Nomads puts them in a favorable position commanding the two quadrants closest to the friendly deployment zone, leaving Mary Problems and Perseus to make advances in the next turn and Raoul Spector menacing the opponent deployment zone.

The O-12 Alpha Unit found himself in an interesting position once the initial Tunguska reaction had abated. A number of his units were down and his left flank seemingly exposed and open. Therefore, it was imperative to re-seize the initiative by countering with an aggressive maneuver on his right; although the Kyttä that had providing overwatch on the right was down, his Epsilon, Gamma, and another pair of Varangians were poised to attack.

Looking to take advantage of an open center, Hippolyta charges down the middle of the are of operations to contest the Cheerkiller Haris held quadrant. Although a Puppetbot attempts to take shots as she approaches, many miss and those that hit bounce harmlessly off of her armor.

Hippolyta, knowing that the lead Cheerkiller is equipped with a multispectral visor, successfully protects her line of advance with a potent eclipse grenade in a bid to close the gap to strike with her explosive close combat weapon.

Despite her effort, Hippolyta's eclipse grenade was just a hair too short to benefit from its effects to enter close combat. Knowing the risks, she valiantly charges out of the low-visibility zone with her sword poised. Although inhumanly fast, the Cheerkiller Haris manages to land enough hits in the reaction to take down the reincarnated Queen of the Amazons.

On the right flank, the remaining two Varangians suffer wounds from long-range shots from overwatching Puppetbots -- the lack of obstacles allowing the remotes to be uncharacteristically accurate under the control of Puppetmaster Zhikov.

Turn 1 ends with the Nomads in the lead.

Spectre forces find themselves at the advantage. Having downed several O-12 troopers in the previous active and reactive turns, they attempt to capitalize on their numerical superiority. Under Daria's leadership, the Nomads set up further firing lines, bringing Perseus up from the back line to add his weight to controlling a quadrant.

With Hippolyta eliminated and the center now clear, Mary Problems cybermasks and moves down towards the O-12 frontline under the guise of impersonation. After finding a safe area, she drops her disguise and utilizes her pitcher to drop a repeater to threaten the Gamma Unit on the opposite side of the building.

The Gamma suffers several hacking attempts in a coordinated effort between Mary and Daria and eventually succumbs to a successful Oblivion, isolating him from the rest of his command.

The remainder of the Nomad second turn is to further secure the quadrants in current controls and positioning models to contest and threaten the remaining zones.

Very few orders and conscious troopers remain on the O-12 side, leaving the commanding Alpha tight options to seize objectives. The first priority for the Bureau is taking out Mary who is currently contesting one of their friendly quadrants and cannot be allowed to remain.

The first move, however, is with the Lawkeeper's impetuous maneuver. He attempts to escape from a NWI Raoul Spector but does not manage to escape from the mercenary's shotgun attack.

The Epsilon, from his position above where Mary has dropped her disguise, takes several over-the-edge shots with is pistol. Mary's advanced mimetism makes this task difficult, but after a few attempts a pair of rounds hit their mark and take out the Uberhacker.

With their quadrant now somewhat secure, the Gamma attempts to make an advance forward. However, the repeater left by a now KOed Mary Problems allows the three remaining Tunguska hackers on the board to Carbonite him, freezing him in place.

With Raoul Spector now single-handedly controlling the right quadrant near the enemy deployment zone, the Nomad right flank was now secure.

Puppetmaster Miro Zhikov uses his final, battle-ravage Puppetbot to successfully gunfight with the Epsilon and thusly leaving the isolated and immobilized Gamma the final remaining threat.

Using the repeater network in place, Daria guides Perseus in to deal the knock-out blow.

Standing alone and in Retreat! State, the Alpha makes its way off the area of operations as the final O-12 unit standing. The NN Nebuchadnezzar's crew, as Spectre Security and Dynamics, proves its reputation as an effective Nomad technological power house!
