VS ALEPH

Commander Breadsmith here with a report after a skirmish against the insidious Aleph forces aboard the Raveneye.

We were patrolling the Ammo and Supply module after a CA sighting in the area. Instead, we encountered an advance force of ALEPH, who immediately deployed in an offensive position and attacked us. Typical

Deployment

Aleph deployed first, deploying a fireteam of Dakini on a nearby building. A smaller fireteam consisting of a Rudras, Shakti and Pravati deployed near the monorail, no doubt to sabotage it. On the far Starboard side, the Marut and a CSU stalked the Panopoly nearby.

Our operatives scrambled to take cover behind varying crates and buildings, with only the Gecko and Pi-Well left exposed.

Turn 1

The Aleph moved first. The Rudras began by littering the field with mines, making full usage of the ample and easy access to ammunitions in the area. Pi-Well, who had near full access to the field, took advantage of the situation to send targeting data of the bot to our network, Thus securing our Telemetry goals for the engagement. The Rudras finally noticed Pi-Well and fired upon him, knocking the courageous bot out of the fight.

While this was happening, the Marut engaged our Gecko in a firefight. And although the Gecko put up one hell of a fight, all the Panzerfausts weren't enough to keep him from succumbing to the Marut's dedicated firepower. With all visible opposition down, the Marut strode forward and stole an explosive CC weapon from a nearby locker and the Rudras continued to litter the field with Mines.

That's when we moved. Zoe acted first, trying to get our boys back in the fight. She succeeded in repairing the Gecko, but Pi-Well was not so lucky. That bot deserves something for all of the times he's taken one for the team. Next up, the Vertigo zond utilized the targeting parameters on the Rudras and hammered it's position until it had been reduced to scrap, injuring the Shakti in the process. With The minelayer out of the way, Our Hellcat dropped down and traded blows with the CSU, dropping him, although the Hellcat was wounded in the process.

Next, the Meteor dropped behind a crate near the Marut. And that's when things got interesting. Calling upon her sisters to do what they do best, Mary Problems, Jazz and the Custodier all hacked into the Marut, seeking to remove it from the fight completely. And the improbable happened. The massive cyberattack worked completely. We managed to isolate it from the Aleph network, and even pushed through some command codes. For the time being, the Marut's IFF regarded us as friendly.
Knocking it from the grid meant we couldn't leverage the Tag to it's fullest, so the Custodier dodged one of the more forward mines and landed a pitcher near to Pravarti and the Shakti.

Turn 2

Reeling from the loss of their REM and the possession of the Marut, the now leaderless Aleph forces acted as best they could. Utilizing a failsafe, they were able to purge our control code of the Marut, but it was still not connected to their grid. Pravarti ran in that direction, dodging a Panzerfaust shot or two, but being targeted by our Hackers in the process. She managed to reset the Marut, who leaped forward to silence the Meteor. This resulted in a shutdown Meteor, and an isolated and immobilized Marut. Pravarti moved up and fixed the TAG one more time. Finishing off the ALEPH offensive, the Shakti tried to invade the minds of our Hackers through our repeater! She managed to wound Jazz, but Mary, Zoe and the Custodier made sure the Shakti would never hack again, hitting her with everything, including the kitchen sink.

Targeting data fed to the Vertigo once more, it launched another series of missiles, this time into Pravarti. The usual happened, and the Aristeia star won't be seen in the area until they find her a new L-Host.

Aftermath

At this point, my opponent conceded. I still had plenty of orders to shut down his Marut permanently , and was ahead in everything besides Panoplies. With more specialists, Lieutenants and pionts killed, and a classified under my belt. I would have most likely gotten the Marut over the rest of the turn + T3, with him having nothing but a Dakini core team that was not in a position to advance. However, I concluded that I wouldn't have been very likely to complete either of my other classifieds or do more than tie up the panoplies. As we were getting crunched for time as is, we left the battle as 7-1 me.

Marut

My opponent is proud of his Marut so here are some glamour shots of the feckless machine.
