The Culling of Cameliard

0-1 They Asked

The enemy approached.
We waited, in secret. Knowing the layout of our base by the inch.
The enemy emerged into the expected battle zone.
We waited, biding our time to strike.
The enemies rustled about to their positions. The sounds of chatter heard, the movement of plants giving around rough positions.
On the west was a wolf, hidden amongst the net of foliage. Nearby, hugging the wall, was a harris team of Diablos. Down the central line, controlling the building containing their AC2 was a core, and two separate stragglers backing them up. Reports stated they may have hackers, they did. Both Valerya Gomez and Jazz showed up… and they brought big toys with them, Arial scans showed a zondbot way off in their rear.

A Mid field infiltrator run up the centre field, behind the centre armoury.

The enemy sat there, waiting, still, ever challenging.

0-2: We Answered

The challenge was taken, I ordered deployment of the twins.

Leading the charge from our back line.

Twin one tumbled in on the western side, a Squallo. As ever, piloted by the man of secrets, the same one who has proven himself clearly capable in each mission prior. So much so I provided him with a partner, a Karhu Engineer by the name of Tammy.
Stationed on the building next to them was a monstrucker engineer, his palbot securing the east flank, ready for the second twins arrival.
Our centre line was held by a Helot, covering the enemies position with his red fury rifle.

The east flank was covered by a knight of Santiago Hacker, two fusiliers backing him up if need be. Further back we’re two mulebots, one of which containing an Evo hacking device.

0-1.2: They dealt their hand

The enemy played their hand. A second infiltrator emerged up on the rafters of our communications array, dropping a crazy koala at its base. Scanning the area lead us to believe that something camouflaged has appeared nearby, also.

0-2.2: Twin Two

Enter Twin two.
Scrambling forward at a blinding pace was our second TaG of the aforementioned twins— twin two, the tikibalang. Who gave brief nod to the knight of santisgo as the two paired up over comms.

An eruption of chatter on the enemies comms was reported.
‘What in the hell… there’s two of them?!’
‘God damnit!’

It put a smirk on my face.
What brought that to a full smile was the response I received after I ordered the Twin Team to give the enemy hell.

‘HAAAOOOO!’
‘HAAAOOOO!’

‘Let’s retake our base, boys!’

1-1: an explosive entrance

Twin one shot into action, he ordered Tammy to cover him and diverting off to the right for a direct line of sight to the infiltrator laying prone on the tower who wasn’t as hidden as he thought.

1-2: Crying Carnage

Bullets scattered— a body fell.

*clunk* It hit a support beam on the way down.

‘One to me’ the Squallo pilot announced over chat.
‘I bet that’s all you’ll get’ replied twin two.
‘Hah, watch this…!’
Grenades started flying out through the armoury, the midfielder narrowly avoiding a swift demise by doging away.
Twin one and Tammi broke forward again, into a better position by the armoury.
Grenades were sent sky high, screaming over buildings right into the core teams flank. None struck their targets, but the enemy was in disarray.
‘Get that panoply!’ I ordered.
In one swift movement the tikbalang moved into range.

*Dink, dinkdonk*

Bullets scattered of its armour.

*GATA GATA GATA* The squalo responded. the enemy Jaguar was melted by steel.

The squalo quickly grabbed a box from the panopoly and then moved back to where he was
‘Ha ha ha, excellent these will come in handy…’ he replied.

‘Twin two, set yourself up by those crates and keep an eye on the area’
The two moved swiftly, slinking behind cover before one last Co-ordinated order was given…

‘SUPPRESSIVE FIRE!’

…I loved watching the carnage as the two twins teams broke into action, all four members laying down waste to everything before them.

The enemy quite literally shit their pants.

1-2: Hesitance

nothing dared move through the carnage. Instead, trying to keep a low profile, the Dog himself moved forward. McMurrough worked his way through the foliage unseen, to pass more securely he dropped smoke at center.
It all went well until he left it’s safety, completely oblivious and surely riled up he ran in direct fire of our Squalo.

He didn’t get up.

Clearly riled, the enemy harris broke into action, crawling up behind full cover, the enemy Lobo cocked his Red fury and dove infront of the Squalo.

‘Gun him down!’ I ordered the helot.

Gun him down he did. The enemy was clearly unprepared to deal with a red fury returning fire on top of a twins suppression. He split his shots in a desperate attempt but Team Twins were just too Co-ordinated.

‘I’ll take that one from you…’ said the Helot toward his superior Squalo.
‘There’s plenty for us all.’ The squallo responded.

Action broke out on the east flank, it was a camouflaged unit after all.
‘Drones, helot, eyes on. Everybody else hold!’

‘I spy with my little eye… gotcha!’ Was heard as the helot revealed the enemy bandit.
The enemy bandit clearly worried his cloak was disarmed ran fully into cover.

That didn’t save him.

‘Aaaaaaand that’s one to me—‘ said Sir. Kepulchre, our Santiago Knight, as he tapped trinity on his wristwatch.
‘—just like fireworks.’ He continued as the bandits head swelled up before splattering on the stairwall beside him.

The enemy comms were manic:
‘It’s a slaughter, should we abort the mission—‘
‘—abort!’
‘Abandon the target!’

But they did not retreat, clearly they had top orders to maintain composure.

In a last ditch effort the remaining infiltrator snuck his way into the armoury just far enough to spotlight Tammy.

(My opponent made some mistakes here walking right into my Squallo’s Los. So I allowed a retcon and accepted the spotlight as I felt bad that the dudes dice were tanking.)

2-2: Sickening Squalo.

‘THIS IS THREE—‘ was heard amidst the gunfire erupting from twin 1’s HMG.
The first order was a given, he didn’t even need to hear it and simply gunned down the enemy infiltrator in cold blood.

‘Okay… do that again to the remaining Diablo’s’ I said.
‘I’ve got just the thing…’

Sure enough he did.

Two explosions were heard. Bits and pieces of Diablo remains splattered across the battlefield.

‘I do love grenades…’ he said as he lobbed another at the last enemy. ‘That, my friends, totals five.

‘There’s no stopping you.’ Said twin 2.
‘I just love explosions,’ replied twin 1, the sound of his grenade launcher putting away as he spoke.
*phhllooop*
*baNg!*
*Cchhhluup*
*craasssh*
*Floop*
‘I believe that makes—‘ *KKKRASH* ‘—five now. One just confirmed by aerial.’

The enemy didn’t like that explosive last one.

I could feel the battlefield stirring here, so I forced the team to settle back into suppression again.

2-2 Readied revenge.

Our pilot learned something that day.
He learned not to get content.
He learned what it was like to be on the receiving end of carnage.
He learned it hurts a lot more when it happens to someone else.
He learned ballistic missiles don’t miss.

Tammy unfortunately stood no chance as a guided missile flew up into the sky. It came crashing down on her spot, wiping her from existence in an instant.

Nothing but silence was heard over comms.

The pilots gut wrenched, he felt responsible, he felt horrified, he felt shame.

And while he felt this way the enemy evader stood up and unleashed all hell on his position.

A distracted pilot left for a delay of reaction, for once he was unable to surmount an assault with his own firepower.

Mourning his loss, the pilot said nothing as his Squalo sank, sundered.

3-1: The last effort!

‘Get that tag back up!’ I commanded, moving the moonstrucker over a group on comms.

The moonstrucker did exactly as asked. He slid down the side of his stationed building and bolted across the field. Fortunately the evader sucked prone after his assault, allowing the engineer safe travel. After a few moments, the tag was back up and running.

‘Okay, get yourself together. I need that tag out of fire and guarding our own AC2’

There was still no response, but the tag moved as requested.

‘Right twin two, It’s all up to you now, get that damned AC2.’

The Tik mounted an assault like never before, ‘For TAMMY!’ Cried its pilot, before trampling through everything, even the crazykoalas couldn’t keep up.
He mounted the side of the building.
‘Sir they’re trying to hack into my system!’
‘RESET, RESET!’
The tik just managed to sling itself over the edge of the building before it’s systems shutdown, then sharply restarted.

The pilot gladly obliged. Ran across the building and unloaded his HMG into the hacker.
Another instance of total control was attempted— but it was not finished.

‘Good job, you have one shot at this, now, get that AC2 down.’
‘With what?!’
‘Your fists if you have to!’

Sure enough the tik started battering the AC2. Ignoring the evader that had moved into base to base when *zzzzzt*
‘What the fff—————‘ --disconnected--

‘Damnit, they reprogrammed the defence system against us!’

3-2 Sabotage

One final effort was made by the enemy team, their lieutenant himself rushed down their building and across the battlefield while a distracted Tik tussles with the enemy.
He didn’t get far, a quick misstep lead him to he’s demise at the hands of our helot.

At this point it was a sure loss for the enemy, with no way to achieve their goal or win the battle they took purely to sabotage.

Two D-charges and a coupe de grace later and the tik was in pieces.

Postgame: A worthy trade

A worthy trade, a bit unnecessary, but still… we can rebuild a tik, the enemy can’t rebuild that force, not with such drastic losses.

The attack was a success, (5-4, 202-31) and we have regained a portion of our base. I just hope it is enough.

As you have requested, this will be my last report before I return to base. Upon my return I’d like a personal meeting setup with the soldiers I have worked with from each team. Let’s see if I can’t create the perfect squad between them.

I look forward to returning to action.
