OOC: First of all, we had some serious Proxy's, yes that Raicho is tabled as a Jotum . This was my first match with SWF and in truth my pano models are severely lacking. I'm using this campaign as a test to see what I models I want to invest into. With that aside, enjoy the battle report.

A Head start

Deciding a strict assault was the best option, I decided to deploy the newly constructed Team Vehemence to do the job. I had Uma deploy with her Nisse core on the right flank of the battlefield, a lone machinist covering their rear, and scattered drones and Total Reaction Mulebots across the rest of the DZ.

Ikari soon answered
A core lead by a Tanko missile launcher were seen emerging opposite the Nisse.
A few scattered bots rolled in before another tanko was spotted taking advantage of our free left flank, a Daryokai and doctor supported it.
The hero of war Yojimbo himself backing them up.

The big guns came crashing in; a Jotum, it screamed in out of nowhere, trampling down everything in its wake to the left flank, covering the tanko Harris.

Ikari responded with their own tag, a multi sniper rifle wielding Triphammer…

I’ve reports of a profile like that before…

1-1: Svalarheiman Suppression

My team lead the charge.
I ordered the Jotum to break the left flank, and their moral, by taking out Yojimbo. It tumbled forward over anything in its way taking potshots at the flashbot covering the triphammer, unfortunately no solid hits were made against the bot.
However, once settled in cover it took advantage of Yojimbo’s position, a thunder of bullets lit up the target. Yojimbo was given no chance to be hero this time, his vital signature was soon wiped from radar.

My next orders were given to the nisse team.
‘take down that triphammer!’,
Perhaps I underestimated the power of a TAG with a multi sniper rifle— that won’t happen again.
Though they tread carefully, the Nisse sniper was taken by surprise. He fought valiantly and traded blows, but an unforeseeable turn left the sniper unconscious.

Knowing Mrs. Sørensen’s kit is better suited this task, she was next on the cards. A critical misjudgment of range left Bullets scattered everywhere but the mark… the trip hammer had dug in well.

I heard chatter among the chat, ‘That damn sniper rifle’. ‘We gotta do something about that Trip-ham.’
The team had never fought something before and I had only one command to give.

‘Suppress them!’

And boy did the Jotum commit, I saw first hand the carnage caused by that APHMG from the onboard video feed…

1-2: A fortunate mistake.

In response to this, the triphammer saw the challenge and moved forward, betting his Sniper rifle against the Jotum… the first of their many underestimations.
The Jotum quickly adjusted his aim and stunned his adversary with blinding fire. Undamaged, the trip was unphased.
It tried again.
To no avail, Jotum bullets scratched the paint from his armour and a critical hit fractured its torso. One wound down, he got the picture.

This next bit took my by surprise, a brief pause settled across the battleground as the trio retired his assault.

I think we all crapped a brick when glints of shadow appeared in the sky and life signs on the map— drop troops.
I wholly admit I was caught off guard as two yuan yuan parachuted down, one in the Nisse flank, the other before them.
Seeing this the Machinist jumped into action, a valiant soldier, I commend his actions and have rewarded him for his bravery, he might well have saved the battle early. With only a combi rifle he took some pot shots as the yuan yuan parachuted in. The two ended up locked in melee combat and, despite the Yuan’s superior skills, the machinist held in there.

Left: Machinist --- Right: Yuan Yuan

Fast movement from the Tanko core took una out of place after her ballistic blunder. Missiles flew everywhere, but this time the sheer firepower returned by Uma was unmatched, one shot dug into the tanko’s shoulder.
Wounded but not out, the Tanko was said to have talked. Two more missiles were loosed, this time they were more carefully aimed. One hit its mark, but somehow una avoided meeting another death, she swiftly retreated further back behind cover.
No longer having an easy target, the Daiyôkai Harris began to move out from cover… There was a brief pause.
The Jotum pilot furiously coaxed his aim assist system to lock on, it was just working the confines of its maximum range and. Just as the enemy Tanko placed his aim, a hail of bullets saturated the area and sent the tankos missiles haywire. This Tanko had taken a clean shot to the abdomen in the exchange— Clearly their resilience wasn’t to be underestimated.
They were clearly struggling to deal with our finest TAG, but they had tricks up their sleeve… tricks that became a fortunate mistake.
The dust settled on the rocky cover, revealing the Daiyôkai now some distance behind the tanko, he took aim at the Jotum with a panzerfaust.

Our Jotum pilot acted on instinct, he knew exactly what to do.
The Jotum lowered its HMG, the Daryokai flinched and fired too early in a desperate ploy to win the trade… who can blame him when a metal monstrosity is pointing the head of a panzerfaust right back at you.

The Daiyokai rolled a 1 and a 20 - The Jotum rolled a 2.

Our camera’s were said to have seen the Jotum pilot smile from his distant control point as rockets flew past his Tag; nerves don’t get to you when you aren’t in the field. The pilots patient aim sent a rocket directly to the feet of his target, the daryokai was sent tumbling. Though he somehow put the pain behind him and got back to his bloodied feet.
Panicked and in a last effort to stay alive, the Harris moved again. The Daiyokai discarded his unloaded panzerfaust as he ran back toward the rocks for cover, while the Tanko took aim with his missile launcher.

My pilot played a riskt card, perhaps blood thirsty, perhaps confident experience. He trusted his TAGs armour and ignored the tanko to unleash one final panzer at the Daiyokai.

It was left in a million pieces in the end…

…but the Jotum stood, ever mercilessly menacing.

The pilot radio’d in a brief message:
‘Not a scratch… is it my turn?’

I could only oblige with a simple yes…

2-1: The brutality begins.

…The Jotum immediately broke into action, this pilot clearly had no holes barred, I watched as it clambered forward and dealt with the tanko like a rat in a trap, and similarly left it to bleed out.

The Jotum continued its pressure play by moving into sight of the Tikilabang and flash bot.

It threw everything it had against the multi sniper rifle completely ignoring the flash bot.

Again the Jotum stands triumphant, the triphammer was torn to shreds.

A worthy trade as the Jotums pilots controls were stunned that pesky flash pot. You should’ve heard the swearing come from the pilot. I calmed him with commendation and thoughts of honoured medals for his work so far. We both agreed he needed to focus on regaining control and needed to reboot his targeting system.

Suppressive fire began again.

Seeing the Trip fall rallied my teams moral. An overtly eager Uma charged forward into view of the Tanko and exchanges shots.
A reckless move, she lost the trade and was left unconscious as a backlash and a nearby Nisse was unfortunately in the blast zone and also rendered unconscious.

I sent the medic in… but it wasn’t pretty.

Shouts echoed through as his unconscious friend slipped through the veil and needless to say Uma was… damned, in the communication.
Fortunately, we retrieved all the lost soldiers cubes. I’ve made note and requested revival of those lost. The team bonded well and fought like true heroes, they were utterly fearless. I believe that with more conditioning and enough time to bond with Uma, and this team might just be what we need.

A testament to this is the medics following actions after we shared a brief interaction.
I simply told him that his friend, I believe it was private Alistar, ‘stuck his neck out for the team and for the mission,’ I said, ‘I’ll make every effort to revive his cube, but in the here and now it was his turn to be just as brave as his friend. To save the others.’

He took to work immediately, I could tell vengeance was on his mind as he retreated back toward the struggling machinist who was— by his own words— ‘pinned to the ground by the enemy Yuan.’
The machinist saw the look in priv Riggs blood stained face, we all did through his visor camera. The Yuan caught sight of the blood stained medic too so he tried to push away, quick thinking from the machinist locked him still.
One shot blew a fist sized cavity in the Yuans chest.
The yuan coughed up enough blood to completely cover the Machinist’s visor…

A second shot was heard over comms…

Neither the machinist nor medic wanted to say what happened— Though satellite report of the skirmish states that the skull of the Yuan Yuan as completely obliterated and almost beyond recognition.

I’ve scheduled them both in for commendations of honour upon their return. The two have swore fealty as brothers to each other… though maybe this is a coping mechanism. I’ve arranged therapy sessions on their return also.

2-2: a game of revenge.

It seems the Ikari are a savage kind. They used our wounded as traps. A barrage of rockets hailed toward our unconscious, Nisse sniper. Clearly hoping to tag the teams other sniper off guard. Narrow avoidance at best. In exactly the same manner as his team mates, this sniper did not back down.
He was ready.
The moment that tanko poked its head back out from those crates to inspect the damage, it’s left eye was breached by a DA round.
Their doctor set to work. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do to save a flailing Tanko with brain pieces missing.
At this point it was a game of revenge.
A sniper soon takes place of the tanko, this sniper and the nisse enter a cacophony of shots, each one narrowly missing the mark. Any hits are braced or deflected by armour. Until one finally strikes its mark and the nisse is taken down.
The ikari sniper doesn’t stop there. He proceeds to put down the unconscious Uma, leaving no one.

Having lost one tanko, the other Ikari doctor on the left flank springs into action to bring around the other. The now Duo move into position hugging the nearby wall.
Faced down by our Jotum, they devised a desperate plan.
The two crawled head to arse to the end of cover, the tanko taking the lead. Shielding the doctor with his own flesh the pair move into the open.
The Jotum fired.
The two tumble in a united dodge.
The tanko is left like Swiss cheese and the doctor, as if blessed by fortune, makes a successful dodge and dives out of sight behind the objective.
Though successfully activating the terminal, he was mistaken as to who the real HVT was.

3-1: the pilots plan.

My last message to the Jotum pilot was: ‘it’s all down to you.’

We had no time to think, the first plan was the only plan. It was a risky one.
With few orders remaining the Jotum moves past the viewing field of the ever elusive flash pulse bot.
Time is of the essence.
Giving no quarter, the bot was shot down without a thought.
The jotum moves again, finishing next to the objective— the doctor attempts to dodge as he hears the metal monstrosity moving.
He slips, and freezes in fear.
This is just the opportunity we needed, Jotum pilot manoeuvres his crabbot remote from the TAG and enters base to base with the objective.
Seeing his opportunity the doctor dodges and successfully moves into perfect sight of the frail, crabbot.

This was the pilots plan.

The crabbot clambers away as the doctor takes aim with his light shotgun. He just reconnects to the Jotum shell as buckshot ricochets off its impenetrable armour.

The doctor realises the ploy as lava red tendrils erupt from the steel serpent and spit out toward him…

Sickening screams could be heard across the battlefield as his skin swiftly bubbled and boils and blisters began to pop putrid puss…

The crabbot leaves the jotum once more and walks over the doctors charred bones to activate the control panel.

He fails.

With his final order, he interacts with the terminal once more. Success! A correct guess at the HVT was made, thought at this point it was more than irrelevant. All that was left to do was defend.

3-2: Was it enough.

In a swift and desperate last move,Ikari forces send a solo specialist to the rightmost console, after a few attempts they activate the console and guess at which HVT is the target… incorrect.

With no orders left and no means to kill a clone, the skirmish ends left there.

In the end we gained no ground, but we did not lose.

All is not In peril, the JSA alliance have lost a lot of their soldiers today.
We definitely came in top in regards to returning soldiers. And, as I had stated previously; the troopers final order was collection of cubes, all were successfully retrieved and the team is on file to be rebuilt.

The mission did not go as planned thanks in part to my own rash decisions in dealing with one triphammer Multi sniper, as result I have scheduled myself in for further weapons management training before the next mission.

I shall not be caught out again…

Amazing game in all honestly. And a fantastic first impression to SWF.
