Operation Orbital - field report.

0-1: Serpent Squad

Let to right: Kamau Core/Machinst/medic/Flashbot/TR Drone. Above: -Blacklisted- Below: 3 Helot militia.

The hangar was dark, save the emergency lights pulsing red. The artificial gravity had gone down and other surgical systems were awol.
The entire station was a mess, like a rabid dog biting at the hand that feeds. We didn’t know what was going to happen or who was going to turn up, nobody did. Ot was a multi dimensional wars one, there were faction deployment zones scattered all over the station. Some trying to keep the peace. Some hoping to achieve the opposite.
It was everyone for themselves.
It was Utter carnage.
Fortunately, Through the security feed
I managed to escort Serpent Squad to the hangers without complication. We set up hastily in anticipation of immediate backlash.

On the west flank was the serpent itself, sat dormant. Biding it’s time. Piloted by —REDACTED—, as requested by myself after their immaculate handling of the Jotum during our last mission together, —redacted—.
Tailed carefully by a spec ops trained Machinist: —redacted—.
Both were secured by a Total Reaction Drone.
On the east flank, an elite team of Kamau,
consisting of two line troops; —redacted— and —redacted—; the war hardened combat medic, —redacted—; the recently regenerated Uma Sorensen, who is also back after… bad mistakes during our last venture. Who at my own request, has since received artificially imparted leadership skills direct to her cube; Above them, is the best sniper we could find, private. —redacted-, waiting for my word on where he is needed.
To the rear of our core, a Flashbot scanned the surroundings, waiting for any threats to emerge.
Further to their right, a fusilier medic by the name of private Riggs was on standby.
Bringing up the front and unseen lay a trio of strategically placed Helot militia, each waiting in ambush until called upon.

0-2: Our haste paid off

Once in position, the enemy soon turned up. Several blurred figures spread out across the battlefield, each one seemed to split in two briefly before halting. There must’ve been four or five total.

I ordered to hold.

A moment went past before a harris of those so called Invincibles emerged on the left flank. High priority targets, taking them down further aids our war efforts.

Shortly after that, a company of well composed Brawlers and Diggers worked their way up to a vantage point. They were clearly prepared for long range, extended skirmishes.

We had to move fast. There were snipers, two of them.

They answered my call, so I answered theirs...

'Private, set yourself up on that container, may your aim be just...'

1-1: The Serpents Slaughtering

‘…your first target is dead 12.’
Uma immediately sprung into action, ordering each of the core to reposition to cover their sharpshooter.

Three shots fired, each one diverged mid flight.

Two fragments hit, one shattered the targets multispectral Visor, the other nearly disembowelling.

Down but not dead, not yet.

‘11 o’clock, digger, under the walk way!
Put it down!’

The private back-stepped to a crouch, his target already picked.

Three more DA shots branched through the pillars dead on point, nothing could survive that impact.
Nothing did, the high powered rifle tore through the diggers unusually high armour with such ease that it dismembered its gun arm.

The enemy core was already shattered and disorganized, but we leave no uncertainty, we fight until the enemy is disbanded or dead.

The second sniper was the next priority, an on route exchange to free up dealing with those damned Yu-Jing bastards.

In the blink of an eye The Serpent phased out from a separation wall, the only thing revealing it’s position was red hot rain— a steel stream of subterfuge.
A surprise attack.
Confused chatter emerged across the enemy ranks.

‘The hell is that?!’

‘It can’t be!’

‘Returning fi—' *GATA GATA GATA*
—Disorganised gunfire at seemingly random points dimmed their cries, nothing come of it but destruction of the hangar, ricocheting rifles seemed to hit everything but their intent…

The Serpent slaughters all.

Their sniper was insignificant by comparison and was liquified without mercy.
All while our mechanical monster continued forward without breaking pace, it’s silent silhouette shifted within spectral shadows until it was all but invisible…

…As if it were lightning, it lashed out in the darkness once more. The thunder that followed was a frenzied flash of fury.
The invincible let loose shot after shot until the firing hammer of his boarding shotgun clicked a hollow harmony.

Death gripped the so called invincible.
Death didn’t let go until it was sure there would be no return.

It’s last job was to secure the left most terminal. Using it as cover, one final barrage took care of what seemed to be a Libertos, preoccupied planting a minefield.

I noted at least three mines in that area.
Fortunate for us we covered all the ground we needed to. A quick activation of the terminal allowed us to be fully committed to the oncoming retaliation.

Serpent squad had it under complete lockdown, if anything tries to advance, they would see it.

1-2: They did what they could.

Amidst the carnage the enemy began to advance. Clearly shook, they took precise and careful movement…

‘…target spotted up on the west eves.’ -reported our western Helot.
Checking it over camera I confirmed there was something up there.

‘Wait,’ I responded, ‘on my command, show it hell.’
‘It’s scanning my area commander.’
‘Wait…’
‘He has discovered me!’
‘…FIRE!’

Sure enough, the infiltrator was not expecting to be infiltrated. Our first Helot sent missiles careering up the western eves. The enemy didn’t stand a chance— by the time it had realised what was happening it was already spattered on the roof, it’s internals dripping red regret.

The two remaining invincibles responded to the commotion. Being one down however, there was no famous chant this time.
They simply scrambled silently up onto the nearby eve keeping their backs pinned to something solid as they went.
One sat covering the midfield objectives while the other went to inspect their fallen infiltrator.
The moment our helot reported sight I gave orders to fire.
The invincible had expected the response and ducked back as a rocket struck the side of the eve. As he leaned back out to return fire, a second rocket blew him off his feet.
But the invincible rose, though he was in terrible shape, perhaps clinging to his namesake more than his life.
‘Again!’ I ordered the Helot.
This time the enemy dodged both rockets and fired back, injuring the helot. Though not a life threatening wound, he lay unconscious, he lay out of action.
The invincible clearly dazed, stuck his ground from there on.

Upon checking the other cameras, I could see the core team’s medic carefully climbing his way into his snipers nest. he threw over what I presumed to be a stim pack.
The sniper punched the needle into his leg.
The fit of adrenaline that followed didn’t last long. He jumped into position and started shooting back at our private, the broken visor clearly hindering his accuracy, one shot was all it took to knock him back off his feet.

The medic managed to throw another stim his way. But… well, it didn’t take. His body convulsed for about 30 seconds then just... went limp.

They took a different approach from then onward.
Something camouflaged moved over the central generators thermal protection screen in an attempt to advance out of sight.
‘Eyes on the generator’ I ordered.
Our Flashbot soon discovered it to be a reconnaissance regiment Zhēnchá.

It approached us before climbing back over over toward terminal B on the East flank.
‘C, FIRE!’

Our east most Helot stationed in perfect view decloaked and readied his light rocket launcher as a sharp flash dazed the Zhencha, causing him stumbling down the wall. The missile soon after careed towards it, dead on target.
A touch of misfortune was felt, the lack of gravity combined with the magnetic field of the nearby generators caused a sway in trajectory, hurtling the rocket up and over, way past its intended target. Curling back on itself it causing an explosion where the Invincibles had been deployed moments before.

Some final movement rose on the east flank again, something had moved into the terminal amidst the chaos. Our flashbot failed to spot what it was leaving our sniper and helot to cover objective C…
Waiting.

Nothing visible happened… But my Comlog told me an enemy had successfully accessed the terminal.

‘Damnit!’

2-1: The Snipers Suffering

The enemy thought that they had gained ground.
They had not.
They had merely lost safety.

Sick of their gumption, I gave one order: end the remaining Invincible’s reign.

Our sniper scrambled up to the next crate, the sheer sight of his imposing vantage sent the enemy cowering, the grounded troops diving behind cover.

The invincible thought otherwise, he sought to confront the reputation the sniper had built. He thought he could par up.

In the end, all he achieved was erasing his own history.

Death was waiting on the final Invincible.

And death soon moved again.

Another cacophony of cold, callous, conflagration.

Nothing seemed to happen, The serpent was back guarding point A in the blink of an eye.
Yet it was clear nothing survived, not even the western security camera.

I commended their valiance. There are few who dare stand against the invincibles name, yet Serpent Squad made it look like Yu-Jing found their badges in a cereal box.

With no targets in sight, I gave orders to secure the objectives.

Helot B moved unnoticed to secure the tech coffin in the mid-most point while I devised a plan to deal with the eastern terminal’s minefield. It was imperative to take that objective off the enemy.
‘Is your palbot in need of a little walk?’ I asked our machinist.

Unfortunately the palbot was unable to activate the console before the mines triggered, the mines were no longer a threat though…

…before I could give new orders, private Riggs took it upon himself to rush the objective.

‘What’s he doing…?!’ I heard over the comms.
‘Fall back!’ I ordered.
He didn’t listen, and only told us he was going to prove himself one of the team.
At this moment I regretted putting someone with so green on the team, he was supposed to be backup in case of casualty, but now his own life was at risk.
The enemy sprung their trap, another libertos revealed himself in haste, narrowly missing Riggs with a single shotgun blast… it didn’t matter.
The enemy Specialist crashed out from his cover ambushing Riggs, holding him at Pistol-point, his other arm choking his neck.

I shouted orders.

‘LIBERTO!’ I yelled.

Two shots sunk into the Libertos torso, bringing a whole new meaning to the term chest cavity.

Seeing this, 'Riggs yelled across comms.

2-2: Bitter sweet, but no retreat.

With no resources left, the enemy seemed to tentatively hover the fence of retreat.
The event that had just transpired, however, seemed to rally them instead.

They were seen digging in awaiting our next action.

3-1: Desperate measures

Though the skirmish was ours, the mission was not, not yet.

Though safely camouflaged, our mid most helot still needed to activate the tech-coffin.
The ominous presence of mines permeated the air.
I gave the order, still. ‘Be careful, one false step and—‘

The Helot had unfortunately perished in a ball of fire.

Being the most valuable asset on the field I made further orders to recover the coffin and before I had finished talking the Serpent itself had taken ahold of it. The remaining two mines detonated without even scratching its armour.

The remaining time we had was left entirely to the fireteam.
The private however, regressed, sitting on the crate questioning his own actions.

‘We have this, keep yourself in there.’ Said Uma, leaving him behind.
The four of them move up toward the objective, aware that the specialist might still be hanging around

He was-- he jumps into the open brandishing a boarding shotgun.

‘Go—!’ Shouts Uma, gesturing the medic toward the eastern control point.
The medic runs straight past the enemy specialist as his shotgun unloads spread shot directly at him and his team. A stroke of fortune sees the medics armour absorb the stray pellets. But, in the stress of the moment, he fumbles and fails to activate the console.
He tries again, trying desperately to ignore the commotion on comms.

Spare shot crashes against the helots cover, the only thing saving it from sure death.
Unfortunately the Karhu didn’t share the same fate and was knocked down.
Down, but not out.
‘Soldier down, soldier down!’ Cries Uma.
Time was running out.
The medic tried his best once more, but this time the specialist approached from behind and tackled him against the console, just preventing an activation.
‘Get in there!’ I ordered the Helot, before it was too late.

We couldn’t lose another medic, the lives of our fallen heroes depended on it.

The two struggled with the specialist, but they continued to hold the objective.

3-2: Critical consolation

Stricken of everything, the remaining Dashaat Specialist fought to the end, if only for the consolation of not returning empty handed.
Unfortunately for him our Kamau medic was positioned too well, he and the Helot fought tooth and nail and served as a valuable distraction.
The three of them tussled until the very end, but no one came up on top.

The mission was ours!

A operation was successful (6-2) and a devastating loss for Dashaat forces.
(255-89).

We soon subdued the enemy specialist, who was swiftly taken to interrogation.
Our remaining medic set about seeing to the wounded, he was able to stabilize and bring around all of the teams unconscious troops, leaving our losses at a minimal two soldiers... Please contact the families of one Private Riggs and special officer Damyl, though I expect secrecy to be maintained and the appearance to be given that they both died honorably in battle. The families and media must not know what truly happened.

I have issued the highest commendations I can to each of the returning squad.
This called for a celebration amongst the team…

At least to all but one… Schedule in Private -REDACTED- for immediate psyche evaluation.
