Wetware debuging at zebu research center

Several unknown impacts have been registered two dozen clicks outside of the Zebu scanning perimeter. Might be orbital debris given the current state of the place up above.
Proximity bids us check it out regardless. Routine.
Securing the Zone of Operations is key. Extracting data scraps is a plus.

[DEBRIEF_INITIATED]

NCO Aenoch reporting in.
The ground is rough and the going slow, ETA 10min.
The insurgency signature has gone dark on approach.
Be advised, we don’t see ‘m don’t mean no one’s home.
This jungle gives me the creeps.
A methodical securing of the OZ is a priority directive.
Use extreme pre- Holly Shit. There wasn’t supposed to be anything out here!

The dense canopy covering our approach gives way without warning.
We edge onto an incongruously symmetrical clearing centered around a cluster of derelict structures.
We approach form the East.
The whole business smells more like a trap with every footfall.
Leaving the tree line multiple new readings spring up on the scanners.
Wait a sec. aren’t those …

F* ain’t Aleph wetware? Better check in with command to-
COVER! Everyone to cover, dammit.

[ERROR_CRITICAL_408_COMLOG FILES CORRUPTED]

O12 won the Lt. roll and opted for deployment.
Mere mortals can only grasp at the inner workings of Alephs processors. Inscrutably it opts to go first.

Aleph wetware is spread out along the west side of the hot zone.
Strong point on the flanks are a Yadu-Shakti duo on one side and mostly a set of remotely beefed up bots on the other.
Aleph fails all three netrod landings.

O12 forward deploy a sole gangbuster on a roof in one of the quadrants, incl. madtrap.
Team Sirius do the same on the neighboring quadrant.
Everyone else hides wherever full cover is available, nicely covering each other’s backs.

ROUND 1 – ALEPH TURN 1

A Rudra, having 3 netrods backing him up in a private combat group, zooms forward launching shock mines left and right opposite the gangbuster. Only one lands.
The gangbuster puts out his second madtrap in response.
Rudra gets glued a first time.
The sophotect repositions and removes the glue.
A coordinated move sees four troopers advance into the same quadrant as the rudra.
They’re spearheaded by an EVO bot.
The Rudra pushes on into the O12 controlled quadrant while reloading his minedispenser.
This triggers the 2nd madtrap. Needless to say, the Rudra gets stuck again.
One more time the Sophotect inches closer and remotely unglues the machine.
Another volley of mines lands into the enemy DZ, covering an epsilon, peeler and potentially a varagian.
The Aleph turn concludes with a repositioning Zayin on a roof, moving up the Yadu duo to contest another quadrant, and the Rudra setting up suppressive fire.

ROUND 1 – O12 TURN 1

Here I am, hemmed in by mines all the way into my DZ.
My Varangian pops smoke at the foot of the building on which the Epsilon is hiding.
He proceeds then to duck in and out of the smoke dodging a mine.
The Epsilon, now freed from potential mines to the face, hops around in the smoke. With the next 4 or so orders he takes on both the Rudra and Zayin with risky shootouts.
Another mine is defused by a Gamma Feuerbach all the way across the DZ.
The Peeler is good to go and takes up position across the wrecks of the Aleph bots. /Just in case./
Under cover of another Varangian created smokescreen a Raptor KHD advances, activates a console and secures a quadrant.
Hippolyta sees this but the ARO shot is canceled by a Raptor crit [on 2’s] in opposition.
Shock rounds make sure she’s a goner.
He ends his turn in cybermasked state.

ROUND 2 – ALEPH TURN 2

A sophotect is hard at work.
She tries under the heavy fire from a peeler and the Epsilon to both fix the Rudra remotely and the Zayin personally.
The stress might’ve been too much.
She whiffs 3 rolls on the Rudra to finally get it up.
This leaves no command tokens to reroll another fail on the Zayin.
Bullets fly and the Sophotect ends up prone in NWI.
The Rudra takes out the Peeler at close range, but fails in 3 successive shootouts to lay the Epsilon problem to rest.
The Rudra ends up glued once more, as a bluecoat sees it climbing a roof during an exchange of bullets.
Ekdromoi reinforcements are guided by an Evo hacker [landing on 16’s], but fail to land regardless.
On the other flank there is an intense combined arms brawl going on, between Shakti and the Raptor. Quantronic and material bullets fly both ways over several orders.
The Raptor is finally put down.
Shakti is not unscathed however, as the HFT of the DEVAbot singed it real good.

ROUND 2 – O12 TURN2

The untouchable Epsilon moves and shoots. Never needing more than 1 order to put troopers down.
The Rudra and Sophotect don’t stand a chance.
The great migration starts.
All O12 troops start advancing into quadrants.
A Varangian needs only look angrily [crit] at Shakti to make her Lhost fall apart.
As Aleph suddenly severs all Lhost connections to its field agents [loss of lieutenant], O12 can claim a total victory.

GAME END

While Aleph was not in retreat, we decided to stop the game here. If we score for the game at the end of round 2, we projected the score would be upwards from 3 to 0. [2pts for controlling more quadrants the 2nd round and at least 1, but probably 2 consoles activated].

Aleph starts to go out of the ZD
Start of O12 turn 1. As you see, mines everywhere.
The final blow. Rest in pieces Shakti, this is my last lucky roll for this game
