SITREP

3 Days prior to engagement, Aleph prediction algorithms sent a priority 3 alert to Bureau Toth indicating a 72%+/-3 probability EI insertion of Shasvastii infiltrators at Zebu station.

2 Days prior to engagement, the assessment was updated to 93%+/-2, and Toth advised Bureau Aegis and high command to commence intervention.

1 Day prior to engagement, Aegis routed Task Force Victor Bravo for the task, with express orders to maintain the Symbioresearch lab facilities. Task Force members were provided hazmat equipment to enter the facility and not become directly exposed to symbiont armor specimens.

30 minutes prior to engagement, a small Shasvastii operational team (CODE DESIGNATION: BASILISK) was detected entering Zebu perimeter from the northwest. Under ICAF Standing Order 12-A, Victor Bravo went weapons free and moved to engage.

2 minutes prior to engagement, Aleph-controlled security systems attempted to contain the EI directly by releasing XXXREDACTEDXXX a potent biomechanical toxin into the research laboratory. Victor Bravo was unfortunately in the exposure zone and had to contend with these additional risks. Additional secondary tasks were assigned by Ensign Faulkner to 1) remap the symbioresearch laboratory to identify the security system being used to release XXXREDACTEDXXX, 2) Casevac injured personnel in the event of surviving exposure to XXXREDACTEDXXX and 3) test the durability of shasvastii armor to D-Charges.

Disposition of Forces & Initial Engagement

Victor Bravo Deployment Pattern

Task Force Victor Bravo’s first priority was to avoid the automated security system toxic cloud at their deployment position. PFC’s Ivanov and Stewart covered the advance with smoke, although ABH: SPECS was hit during an exchange of fire with a BASILISK shrouded. Ensign Faulkner coordinated Warrant Officer Reese and Sgt. Hwang to lay rockets on the revealed enemy position, and the advance out of the zone continued apace. Sgt. Hwang was caught in a surprise blast from an enemy Gwailo, and knocked out of the fight, but all other personnel exited the danger area in position to slow BASILISK’s advance.

BASILISK Taigha creatures were released to cover their advance, engaging Sirius Agent Nakamura and Warrant Officer Reese. Reese determined that a D-Charge, inserted into the open mouth of a Taigha, is an efficient if somewhat messy way to eliminate them. Nakamura was not as lucky, but the Taigha was also eliminated. BASILISK attempted to advance out of the security toxin but were somewhat stymied by the positioning of Task Force Victor Bravo and the presence of MadTraps from Officer Aziz. The Gwailo assault armor attempted to engage Warrant Officer Reese, but received counter-fire which eliminated it. Bureau Noir noted a change in BASILISK communication codes following the Gwailo’s incineration, which further analysis indicates they lost command-and-control capabilities and were in state of disarray.

Continuing Engagement

Ensign Faulkner elected to order his troopers to engage advancing Ikadron-class robotics, to avoid issues of immolation similar to that observed for the Gwailo. However, the Ikadron-class drone has recently upgraded its flash-pulse capabilities and proceeded to systematically disable four troopers. Warrant Officer Reese moved to rush and kill the bot directly to limit the damage it could do, but was unable to do harm to it during the section of the engagement.

The Ikadron proceeded to flame Aziz and take him out of action. Warrant officer Reese and PFC Stewart finally disabled the drone; the disabled drone has been since transferred Bureau Aegis Scientific Directorate for further analysis. Additional positioning from BASILISK attempted to take advantage of high ground on the Eastern edge of the engagement area and protect their flank from climbing assault. However, they were exposed to fire from several vectors and were eliminated, with Aida Swanson (see appendix 23-F for a full listing of her felony violations) and an additional Shrouded eliminated. Command-and-control traffic again indicates that BASILISK was in disarray with no remaining humanoid combatants.

Mop Up and Conclusions

To complete additional tasks, Ensign Faulkner moved to complete Mapping of the northern security system and PFC Stewart moved to extract Officer Aziz. However, Ensign Faulkner was unable to dodge shots from the remaining M-class drone, and was forced to hunker down in place to await assistance. Unfortunately for Ensign Faulkner this was within the security system active zone, and he was disabled. Ensign Faulkner will undergo retraining following re-sleeve on the proper protocols for avoiding biohazards material release.

PFC Stewart was shot by a surprise appearance of a Malignos-type subversive unit, and put unconscious; PFC Ivanov engaged the Malignos and was able to take it into custody. It has been transferred to Bureau Noir for rendition. The M-class drone departed the engagement area and remaining members of Task Force Victor Bravo secured the site.

Warrant Officer Reese has been cited and recommended for a Distinguished Service, Valor for her steadfast and valorous defense of the Laboratory; without her quick thinking, the BASILISK Gwailo and Ikadron units would have been free to proceed into the laboratory module, and her efforts ensured mission success. PFC Ivanov has been recommended for field promotion to Specialist, pending approval from the Ariadna Expeditionary Forces.
