Operation: SHAMASH WAS KIND AND LET ME REWIND

Another Panic Room mission! The battle for Darpan is winding down but we got a few more punches at the pinata, which is not an expression but let's pretend that it is.

Top of turn one: I moved Tarik Mansuri into the panic room with no difficulty. I moved the Maghariba Guard up to try to destroy Shamash's Dakini fireteam, but destroyed none of them and lost two wounds on the Maghariba Guard? Not cool, man.

Bottom of turn one: Shamash mostly scuttled around all sneaky-like, moving into position for a stronger push next turn. He blasted a Naffatun off the board from three feet away but that was mostly out of spite. The Dakini traded shots with Mansuri but to no real effect. The Asura got into an absurd fistfight with Dr. Uzi but found him apparently indestructible.

Top of turn two: Doctor Uzi was held up by the Asura, but Doctor Shotgun killed the Dakini that shot Mansuri. He died to various AROs. I kept the Maghariba where they were out of fear of losing the damaged one to a stray combi-rifle shot. I moved the Khawarij further up the board with the intention of doing a flank attack, catching the Dakini in the rear and destroying the whole squad.

Bottom of turn two: The Marut moved up and annihilated Tarik Mansuri and seized the panic room. The Asura finally finished off Doctor Uzi. That was kind of it - Shamash was running out of steam a bit.

Top of turn three: I spent a full ten minutes doing complicated math trying to figure out if I could win, or even draw, and how to even do that when I was in Loss of Lieutenant (RIP Mansuri). I even started spending irregular orders before realizing that no wait - my one Khawarij had Chain of Command! Shamash kindly let me rewind and start the turn over (I let him do so in our previous game due to a similar rules flub). My Khawarij fireteam then shot the Marut to death and seized the panic room. I was in excellent shape to win the game.

Bottom of turn three: Shamash moved his Deva and her flamer-bot closer to the panic room, then into the panic room. I declared dodges as my ARO, but Shamash simply walked into the room. Then he just... didn't do anything else, and with his Lieutenant standing in the panic room it tied up the game. I had banked on another order being used to attack my Khawarij but nope. Everyone just stood there awkwardly staring at each other. Good times!

After this we're going to be able to squeeze in one more game, and as is our tradition it's going to be a somewhat goofy one where I bring as many mercenaries as I can and see how many other named characters Achilles can kill in fistfights.

Allah's best bouncy bois.
The enemy. Shamash used the same list as our previous game from tonight, meaning that definitely for real some of them were traitors to the human race.
The Marut in her natural habitat: far away with a multi-HMG trained on me.
Dr. Uzi, M.D., and Dr. Shotgun, M.D., parachuted in, because I forgot this scenario had a biotechvore plague running rampant.
Tarik Mansuri pretty casually bounced across the battlefield and parked his S5 butt in the panic room.
Cat tax! Grimlock came to say hi.
The Asura ran up to to Dr. Uzi and tried to kill him in melee. She instead took a bullet to the guy, then tried again, and I made a pair of saves. The Asura eventually got him but Shamash had to spend far too many orders on it.
The Dakini oved up and traded shots with Mansuri (in the upper right) but he lived. Dr. Shotgun then shot the Dakini in the back, but went down to the rest of the fireteam's ARO. Shamash rolled uncharacteristically well and I biffed the armour saves.
The Khawarij spent a lot of orders moving all the way into Shamash's deployment zone and blasted a netrod and Sophotect off the board.
The lead Khawarij got out of range of the incoming biotechvore, three others desperately clung to the antenna, and the final one gritted his teeth and just soaked it up. I was extremely lucky he saved it, as you'll see in a moment.
The Marut moved up to the panic room and annihilated Mansuri with HMG fire - I completely whiffed on the dodge roll and took a full salvo to the face.
So, I was in Loss of Lieutenant at the top of turn three and was in a bit of a panic. Then I realized that the Khawarij who tanked the biotechvore field was my NCO and so I was fine. The Khawarij then killed the Marut- that Mk 12 Khawarij is an absolute menace.
Here we go. My Khawarij held the bunker. I would win if Shamash couldn't get his Lieutenant into the building. I braced myself for a fight.
The Deva Lt. and her flamer-bot moved into the bunker. I declared a dodge, expecting to take a heavy flamethrower and a nanopulser to the face. He then idled. He then just... didn't activate these two again? Which was very clever? And the game ended in a draw - he wasn't confident he could kill all five Khawarij, so he just shrugged and called it a draw. Works for me!
