Durgama Takeover

Xiu tensed her fist under the table as the Yu Jing DDC coordination team continued their daily brief. The Azure Dragons had been relieved from their defensive positions at the Neosteelworks, in order to rest and refit for preparation of a final assault to remove Pan Oceania from the planet. Xiu had been summoned by the State Empire to assist the headquarters coordinating with the Durgama Defense Coalition. She had assumed this meant giving tactical advice and enjoying the commodities that her status entailed; however it had turned into nothing but an exercise in extreme patience. She found working with civilian government officials to be a tiresome affair and the Nomads had pushed her buttons one too many times for her.

The recent “issue of the day” was that someone had been posting a doctored image of a questionable nature, depicting a Dragon Lady and a cat eared woman throughout the command center; you could not round a corner or enter any room without seeing one. The Haqqislam and Tohaa delegate had promised to conduct an internal check with their staff, but at great embarrassment to Xiu, the Tohaa delegate required an explanation in greater detail than what was warranted. The Nomad delegate on the other hand, had done everything to continue to fuel the fire that raged inside her. He seemed to particularly enjoy jabbing at Xiu, as she restrained herself internally from choking the life out of him. The previous issues to date included but were not limited to, stealing of office supplies (despite having YJ markings), interruption at briefings, denial of service attacks on YJ networks and other relatable incidents that disrupted the order and unity of the coalition.

Xiu called for one of her accompanying lieutenants, Ai Yang, to her quarters. “I have a task for you.. get fifteen soldiers together that you trust and bring them to the docks tomorrow evening with gear free of any identifying features. There are a couple crates listed under code XIOQ22, that will have some different weapons we acquired from the Combined Army battle. I have a mission for you…“ She crumpled the dragon lady flier in her hand and threw it across the room, “if they want to play games, fine, we’ll play.”

T1 Nomads - Morlock and Chimera run towards the middle of the table. The Moran puts down a crazy koala in an attempt to trap YJ forces in ARO; The Gecko moves up the right flank and takes aim at the beasthunter. However the Beasthunter saves against the Koala and the Hundun reveals and they take the first Gecko down. The Pupniks clear the mine to free up the center Moran who lays another koala. The Prowler attempts to take on the camo marker on the left flank but is unable to as the Guilang dodges away. The Morlock attempts to take down the Guilang, but is gunned down through smoke. The Prowler then attempts to take on the Beasthunter but is put down by the Hundun. The second Gecko comes down the left flank and splits burst against the YJ hunters but is put down by another heavy rocket and panzerfaust.

T1 Yu Jing - The first turn is a bit uneventful as it’s used to remove points from the board. The Hac Tao reveals and removes the Gecko on the far right and the Guilang on the left removes the other one. I position my Kuang Shi and Monk forward of the main line with the beasthunter to slow down a possible Chimera rush.

T2 Nomads - The Chimera runs forward under cover of its Eclipse grenades and tangles with the Monk who dodges and wastes a few roders before going down. The Chimera now takes aim at the juicy targets on the roof. However, while utilizing climbing plus they are out of cover of the eclipse grenade and are shot at by the heavy flamethrower from the Beasthunter and the TR Bot, which removes the dreaded Chimera. The Chimera and pupniks are able to knock the Hundun unconscious in close combat but the Zhanying hacker survives. The Nomad Lt stands up and removes the Kuang Shi with a long range combirifle shot.

T2 Yu Jing - The Guilang on the rooftop removes the Moran in an exchange of boarding shotguns. The other Guilang goes in behind the other Moran on the left and guns him down. The Hac Tao makes a run down the left flank into the enemy deployment zone and removes the enemy lieutenant and flash pulse bot. The Hac Tao, fearing Nomad hacking, stops its advance and pops back into camo state behind total cover.

T3 - The Hac Tao removes the Puppet Master, another flash pulse bot and some helper bots from the Clockmaker. At this point Nomads have Jazz and Billie and the Clockmaker left on the board, which means YJ have secured max points (250+ killed) and the game ends.

The break room had been cleared out, with a round table and three chairs placed inside. Husker, the Haqqislam delegate, sat in the middle with Xiu on his right and Felix Fott, the Nomad delegate on his right.

Husker began, “so, uh, we are here today to resolve some workplace friction that was highlighted yesterday by an attack on the Nomad forces by an unknown faction.” Husker changed his posture and looked at Xiu, “do you have anything you would like to add?”

Xiu spoke bluntly, “I’m sure a lot of people have reason to attack them, look how they act”. While saying this, Husker's attention was directed towards Xiu and the expression on Felix’s face lit up with an almost maniacal smile, clearly loving every minute of this farce. She was almost certain the constant insulting behavior was squarely on this green sweater vest wearing, cat? Who knows she thought, better to just move on. “If the Nomads weren’t being a bunch of idiots all the time, we could stop the Combined Army and push the alliance off of this rock..”

Husker interrupted, “Now Xui, remember the ground rules we set up before starting, rule three and six, insults are not allowed”.

Xiu replied half under her breath, “I mean it’s intended more as a statement of fact as opposed to an insult but okay..”

Felix, changing his expression to be more sorrowful before drawing attention, “Look I just want us to reconcile and ensure we can meet our primary goal of control over Durgama. This coalition has done a fantastic job up until now and we are mere days away from achieving our end goal. Xiu, I really don’t know who was posting cat girl and dragon lady memes all over the ship, it really could have been anyone. However, what we do know is that Yu Jing has a type, so if you want to talk or whatever, my door is always open..”

Husker’s mouth opened slightly in awe of what the Bakunin had just said. Xiu fired back intensely, “You should spend more time worrying about the dangers of space, accidents tend to happen”.

Husker looked down with a slight nod of disapproval. How much longer can this coalition stay together he thought, rising to his feet. “Well, thank you both for coming to.. whatever the heck this was. Look, let's just try to be a bit more civil from now on”. Internally, something told him that this would not be the last he heard of this issue.
