Mission: Annihilation
Modifiers:
– Open Range: All negative modifiers from range have a reduced penalty (-3 becomes 0 range, -6 becomes -3 range)
– Artificial Gravity Failure: Units with Terrain (Zero-G) or Terrain (Total) get +1″ to their first movement value
– Gravitational Advantage: Units with Terrain (Zero-G) can be deployed as if they had the “Parachutist” skill

Learnings:
– Dense tables make big guns hard to use and kill order efficiency.
– Dense tables consequently make going second more appealing since you can hide and spend less orders attacking enemy units that have advanced.
– Mimetism-6 isn’t invincibility, but it sure does force a lot of dice rolls for not a lot of gain.

TLDR:
– Bakunin wins the LT roll and opts for deployment to attempt to hide as much as possible from several strong alpha-strike options from MO.
– MO spends a good amount of their first turn cautiously approaching and only manages to take out the TR HMG bot and a flash bot or two from Bakunin.
– Bakunin spends most of their first turn resetting road-blocks that weren’t fully killed and knocking out the Bulleteer Haris link and Guided Missile bot.
– MO takes turn 2 to go aggressive with the Tikbalang, removing the Uberfall Chimera and again downing the TR HMG from Bakunin to give the core link the ability to maneuver a bit.
– Bakunin uses Kusanagi to push the Tikbalang back behind a building to allow a Morlock to sneak up on it and hack it to pieces. Kusanagi then puts some pressure on the MO core link.
– MO has to take a lot of high-risk plays to capitalize on their last turn before losing the turn-advantage and most of them don’t pan out well.
– Bakunin uses Kusanagi to clean house before repairing downed bots with Fiddler to finish for points.

DEPLOYMENT

Bakunin wins LT roll and opts for deployment with the intent to hide as much as possible. Bakunin splits the two moderators between corners of their deployment to force MO to guess which one is the LT (Pink hair on Bak left flank is the LT). Kusanagi and the Moira link setup centered at the back for options while the Uberfalls take the left flank and Fiddler covers the right with a couple bots. MO sets up Bulleteer Spitfire in a Haris on their right flank near a Tikbalang (represented this game by a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre) and a 5-man core link on their left flank comprised of mixed units. Finally, MO has a guided ML bot nicely tucked in the back to be safe.

TURN 1

Bulleteer Haris moves up towards the Bakunin Uberfalls and TR HMG bot on the MO right flank.
Bulleteer settles nicely against the building with the HMG TR bot, setting up a targeting hack onto the bot. Missiles are in the near future.
The first targeted missile volley actually misses and the HMG TR bot successfully dodges to have a better angle of view against the MO core link on the opposite side of the table. The second missile succeeds, but the resilient TR bot tanks all three saves against the explosive damage. But third time was the charm and the TR bot goes 2nd-level unconscious.
Playing conservatively the Tikbalang climbs onto the nearby building and simply knocks out a Bakunin Flash-pulse bot across the way without advancing further during the turn.
On the MO left flank the Bulleteer with Shotgun advances to cover more angles of possible counter-attack.
With the HMG TR bot down the MO core link can safely move up the MO left flank and find targets to knock out.
With limited orders to advance, the team only manages to find another flash-pulse bot to take out before the turn ends.

For the Bakunin impetuous phase:
- The Chimera advances on the MO Bulleteer haris, losing a pupnik that attempts to melee the Bulleteer.
- One Morlock (who rolled +3 PH on meta-chemistry) lays smoke to cover sight lines from the MO core link across the table.
- The other Morlock starts a possible hero quest to take on the MO core link by himself.

The Chimera continues her advance, successfully dropping eclipse smoke onto the Bulleteer and running through the team with her remaining Pupnik to melee murder the bot and his buddy hacker under the cloud.
Fiddler with her linked servant bot do some fancy movement manipulation to get both the TR HMG and one of the downed flash-pulse bots back up while also moving a Jackbot around the back side of Fiddler's building to possibly give him an approach vector towards the MO core link in the future.
The Chimera emerges from the eclipse smoke with her pup to finish off the remaining member of the Bulleteer Haris and eliminate that threat from the Bakunin left flank.
With the final order of turn 1, the Chimera manages to get a line to the MO guided missile bot in the back. Due to the "Open Range" mission modifier the rolls will actually be Chimera 3 dice on 14's vs the bot's 1 die on a 12. The bot rolls a 9, but the Chimera manages to get one shot through and knock out the bot before the end of the turn.

TURN 2

Sensing the immediate threat, the Tikbalang climbs down from the building and guns down the Chimera, performing a coup-de-grace on the body to ensure the demon wouldn't return to the combat.
With a numbers advantage, the MO core link uses two Tutonic knights to take down the renegade Morlock on the MO left flank.
With bots back up and in the way, the Tutonic Knight with Spitfire splits his burst to knock out multiple threats at the same time and open the opportunity for further advance.
The Tikbalang pushes up on the MO right flank to once again take down the Bakunin HMG TR bot and center himself nicely in front of the position of the Moira core link from Bakunin.

Seeing an opportunity to pressure the Fiddler on the roof, the MO Bulleteer with Heavy Shotgun advances on the MO left flank and climbs a nearby building to get an angle on her. Fiddler has an opportunity for a free shot with her Contender, but opts to roll for a dodge to force the Bulleteer to spend more orders to force an engagement (rolling on a 15 for the dodge VS rolling on a 9 for the shot).

The Bulleteer only gets a few orders to pressure Fiddler and she manages to successfully dodge 3 volleys from the shotgun to retain her position without injury.
Bakunin starts their response with Kusanagi taking advantage of the "Artificial Gravity Failure" modifier on the mission to move up and take shots at the Tikbalang. After a few volleys the Tikbalang sustains a wound and ducks solidly behind cover.
With the Tikbalang unable to see an advance, the roided-out Morlock sets up smoke and makes a mad-dash into melee with him. With double-action hits at damage 17 it only takes a couple orders to melee the Tikbalang to death under smoke.
With the final order from his order pool, the Morlock climbs the building behind the Bulleteer to have view of it if it activates on the MO final turn.

TURN 3

Turn 3 starts badly for MO as the Tutonic Knight with Spitfire loses an engagement with Kusanagi and is killed in the process (he'd lost a wound from the Morlock combat earlier and sustained two in the lost shootout).
Knowing that time was running thin and options were dwindling the MO core link attempts to advance towards the Moira link. Kusanagi gets one last attempt at shooting them before her view will be blocked by her cover, but she manages to put a single wound onto the other Teutonic Knight as the link shifts around.
The Bulleteer takes a risk and shifts over to see Fiddler and the Morlock at the same time. Fiddler takes the shot at him to force a hard decision as the Morlock lays a chain rifle template. The Bulleteer opts to double template the Morlock and attempt to tank his chain rifle. Fiddler misses, the Morlock is solidly killed, but the bot is also downed from the exchange.
Time to go for broke. The link makes a mad dash down the street towards the Moira link with only a few orders left.
The Teutonic Knight manages to get an angle on Kusanagi and attempt to template her with his shotgun. Kusanagi manages to dodge twice, but ends up tanking the two armor saves on the last order from the knight. The Reverend Custodier from Bakunin attempts each time to Carbonite the knight, but his trusty tinbot (and her absolute lack of hacking skills apparently) keep him from being immobilized.
With a good number of orders left and Kusanagi safely ducked behind cover, Bakunin attempts the safest start by trying to hack the remaining Teutonic Knight, but 2-3 attempts still fail to land.
Opting to go for kills, the Moira with Multi-rifle rounds her cover and takes out the Teutonic Knight with SMG.
Kusanagi takes a couple orders to cleanly wipe out the two Corsair paramedics and remove them from the MO core link.
Kusanagi shifts over to take her final shots at the remaining Knight. She takes a wound and goes NWI for her trouble, but manages to land several hits and take the knight out.
With all real threats removed Fiddler is able to shift around and pick up the TR bot and a flash bot before the game is finished.

Final Score:
- Military Orders 0 OP with 43 Army Points left alive (including LT)
- Bakunin: 8 OP with 265 Army Points left alive (including LT)
