preface

This game was played as part of a 10 - person, 3 round ITS event held in Orange County California.
Since it was a tournament game, I was more focused on playing within the time constraint than I was on taking pictures and crafting a narrative. Apologies in advance for using one photo for multiple story beats.

deployment

Staying in Darpan, we reengaged the Shasvastii with the goal of eliminating any remaining Speculos. Taking the initiative, we deployed for a quick strike.

The Combined Army forces deployed defensively with little overwatch.

Turn 1: Haqqislam

Sensing a Speculo in our ranks, Zuleyka quickly discovered the impersonator, eliminating the threat at the cost of her own life.

Meanwhile, our Hawwa' and Hunzakut specialists tapped into the consoles onsite to discover the whereabouts of the Shasvastii agents.

With this knowledge, our Mukhtar moved upfield to dispose of the designated target and an enemy Caliban.

TURN 1: Shasvastii

An undiscovered enemy Speculo Killer moved in to assassinate a key Barid hacker.

At the same time an enemy Ikadron advanced with a heavy flamethrower to eliminate our Mukhtar and Hunzakut.

Shortly after, the enemy M Drone advanced upfield to Sensor our hidden units.

With this knowledge an undiscovered Malignos advanced to eliminate our midfield coverage.

TURN 2: HAQQISLAM

Now knowing of the two remaining enemy specialist exposed in the midfield, our Ghazi Muttawi'ah advanced. First jamming the enemy M Drone, then removing the Malignos.

With no way to make progress, the Shasvastii forces retreated, ending our engagement.

Recap/Lessons Learned

This game ended a few orders into turn 2. My opponent wanted to call the game after my first turn, but we pressed on. Unfortunately, their first turn took over an hour. When the TO asked how much longer he thought we'd take, my opponent decided to call it there. At that time, I was winning 7-0 so that is what we reported. It is possible my opponent could have come back. My plan for the remainder of my turn was to eliminate the remaining specialist so that my opponent could not click any of the buttons. I think it would have been possible with the orders I had, but its also possible I got shut down by the FTFs. I've played my opponent before and he is an excellent community member. I am hoping we are able to play again soon.

  • Terrordactyl says:

It sounds like you both took some damage it would have been interesting to see how the game panned out. I felt bad about how many games I had to cut short that day, but people will get used to timed rounds again.

Great report! As always, well written and illustrated!

  • Methuselah says:

@Arkilles – My understanding is that you can report any game that you play. I discussed with all my opponents ahead of time and we agreed that we would play in Darpan.

  • Arkilles says:

Just a question : how is this in any way a campaign scenario. As it was a tournament it probably even wasn’t a custom scenario…

I’m not clear about the rules for this campaign but i though it was the 2 conditions otherwise we could post any battle report on any map…

  • Danger Rose says:

Oof, I feel that. My first Baterp ended after turn 1 because we spent so long talking and joking that we started an hour before the FGS closing time.

  • theGricks says:

Infinity is one of those games where you can pull a win out at the last, not usually good to quit early. Hope your opponent had better luck the next game!

  • Capo.Paint says:

To end a game in the miiddle of action always is a slight bummer, but you did well. Nice report!
