Subject: Training results

With the Combined Army pushing hard against the bow, it was determined that the newly arrived regiment from the FRRM was in need of training against opponents wielding advanced technology. With our PanOceanian allies otherwise occupied, it was decided to have the troops go up against the forces of Japan that were in theater. The following is the record of the 17e regiment’s performance.

Lt. Mordacq stationed himself, his paramedic and Lt. Bruant on the left flank, supported by a very interested warcor. In the center was a 3man Loup Garous team led by Sgt. Gautier. Mirage 5 and Paracommando Cpl. Hugot waited to be called into action.

Opposing them on the JSA right flank was a Shikami, center was held by 2 keisotsus, Yuriko Oda and a kempetei, supported by Kuroshi rider. Deployed forward was a ryuken 9. There was a ninja hiding by one of the consoles.

The JSA were first off the mark, with Kuroshi charging forward but being felled by the Loup Garous. The Ryuken quickly fllowed this setback up by locating our target console. Despite that, the Merrovingians were feeling good at this point, before the Shikami made himself known.

The fearsome Shikami begins his assault

The Shikami proved to be incredibly difficult to deal with throughout the training op. He charged forward and easily incapacitated the Metro paramedic, but was stunned by the Warcor. Amusingly, the warcor’s flash pulse proved to be the most effective against him. It stopped the Shikami’s assault twice and is probably the sole reason the Merrovingiennes pulled off the narrowest if victories. The impertinence of the warcor forced the Shikami to withdraw. Yuriko then moved to fortify the JSA DZ but was eliminated by an excellent long range shot by the Loup Garous. At this point, with no better options, the JSA commander ordered the Ryuken into suppressive fire.

Lt. Mordacq now had his chance to advance. He dispatched the Loup Garous team to eliminate the Shikami. They failed, the Shikami shrugged off their shots while laughing at their attempts. Duroc was then ordered to advance and landed outside the JSA DZ. He was wounded by the initial defensive fire while managing to engage the opponent before being incapacitated by a mine. While distracting, his assault was ultimately a failure as only one keisotsu was removed. Margot then dropped in to distract the Ryuken 9 and clear the way for Bruant to activate the console. Additionally, Cpl. Gautier made his arrival to assist in stopping the Shikami.

The invincible Shikami

The JSA commander opened the second assault with a ninja appearing next to Bruant and eliminating him before he could figure out how to turn on the console. However, the Loup Garous easily dispatched the ninja.

The Shikami proceeded to leap over the heads of the defending Merrovingiennes, charging for the revealed console. While he was injured, he destroyed the console and was only stopped by the Warcor’s flash pulse. Needless to say, the Shikami was quite angry with the warcor. With the Shikami out of the fight for now, the kempetei moved to engage Cpl. Hugo in the hopes of removing the remaining specialist and preventing any hope the 17e regiment had. However, he failed, and would pay fir his failure.

Ninja strike

Knowing they had no hope of stopping the Shikami, the 17e regiment ignored him and focused on clearing the way for Cpl. Hogo. Margot advanced along the flank and engaged the remaining keisotsu, easily dispatching him with her shotgun. She continued her advance and caught the Kempetei unawares and removed him from the fight. With the way now clear, Cpl. Hugo raced to activate the console. Unfortunately, it took him 3 attempts to realize he had to press the power button. He then raced back towards the newly revealed target console while Lt. Mordacq attempted to withdraw from the Shikami. This attempt was sadly in vain.

The JSA troops were few and without a Lt., but still incredibly dangerous. The Ryuken 9 advanced on Margot and took her unawares while the Shikami targeted the Lt. and removed him from the fight, sending the 17e into disarray.

Time was now of critical importance. Cpl. Hugo charged to the console, dodging a mine blast while he placed his D-charges. With the console destroyed, Sgt. Gautier raced to secure the HVT.

Aftermath

While the 17e did achieve victory, it was by the narrowest of margins. I recommend further training to bring them up to speed against camouflaged enemies. They are in particular need of MSV as well. Unfortunately, with the advance of the Combined Army, it is unlikely they will get a chance for further training. I will keep them in my prayers.

Respectfully,
Maj Williams
