Prologue:

The stale, almost damp air around the Control Module was not strange or uncomfortable for the nomads stationed there. It was soothing and welcoming for them, it felt like being home. That caused all of them to feel safer and relax, which was exactly the opposite of what Lt. Lyrian Cheamish of the Alguaciles of Corregidor wanted.

The combined army had attempted to take over Raveneye Station a few times during the day, and now reports about PanO and Ariadna moving to remove the “illegally stationed Nomads” from their posts were coming through. His crew had been assigned to guard the Control Module during the next hours, so he would make sure they were ready for any situation. 30 minutes before the changing of the war he sent out a simple comms message “Weapons and equipment check”. As he was making his way to grab his own things, he saw someone crouching near one of the generators. A few milliseconds too late, he realized what was happening. Just when he was going to raise the alarm, the lights were cut off in the immediate vicinity and an explosion could be heard very near.

“Everyone move into positions immediately, we need to identify the enemy and act accordingly. Be ready to give them hell” Was what he managed to shout while sprinting to reach his weapons and move into a dominant position where he could see what was happening.

Nomads Ready to Act:

The response from the nomads was swift, even though the attack came as a surprise, they managed to get into position and start acting even before the enemy had a chance to do so. Some of Lyrian’s crew members assumed defensive positions. He joined the Alguaciles to coordinate better and received confirmation from Antonio the Jaguar, Paula the Bandit and Sgt. Guerrero the Intruder that they were also sweeping the area.

“Who are we fighting?”

“Ariadnan dogs” Spat Lankenua the moran through the private channel the crew had hastily set up for this combat. She had a vantage view and had prepared a few koalas. “I think I see a rocket launcher, proceeding to mark it” True to her words, she used the equipment provided to Forward Observers and the Marauder appeared on everyone’s screens as targeted just as she was ducking to avoid the whistling rocket flying her way.

A small team of Wildcats directed by a Corporal that Lyrian didn’t personally know but that had responded to the call to arms started advancing toward the enemy lines. Positioning himself and readying his Spitfire with the full knowledge his two companions were covering him, the NCO aimed towards a reflection in his multispectral visor. “Spetnaz…” Was the only thing he managed to babble before the emerging figure in front of him shot and hit. The spitfire went off at the same time, hitting flor and ceilings before his owner dropped to the floor.

“I will take care of him” Were the words coming from Sgt. Kowalsky from the Tomcat regiment as she jumped down from the vents in the ceiling. The fact that a hero such as her was involved reassured the defenders. As she fell, she sot the elite marksman from the back but failed every single shot. “Something is wrong with the targeting system! Our weapons have been tampered with!”

Panic suddenly took over the nomads. A few seconds of dead, terrifying, silence gave everyone enough time to hear the distinct sound of claws scratching against the metallic colds surface that was the floor. “Oh god, they have those horrifying dogs” In the midst of the following chaos, another one of the Tomcats landed into the battlefield from the ceiling. “I am getting out of here, we need to inform of this” He said as he landed closer to his nomad companions than to the enemy.

Only the Bandit, brave and reckless as she was, decided to push through. She crossed the battlefield towards where the Spetnaz was, dodging mines and obstacles alike. “My sword doesn’t need aiming assistance, and this multispectral visor that I Picked up before the battle will come in handy”.

Ariadna’s Hunting Time:

The Devil Dog team that had been hiding behind the Marauder jumped forwards and charged through the battlefield unopposed as Lankenua tried to fire her shotgun a few time when they were close enough and could not hit them. They were far too nimble for her. Fortunately, she was not an easy prey and managed to dodge any time the enemy would fire at her. In a few seconds, the Devil Dog and his “little” pet were upon the poor Wildcats that were left stranded after the loss of their NCO. Drool falling from his jaws, the K-9 Stood menacing as a reminder of the grim future that waited them if they advanced.

At the same time, a whole pack of Antipodes moved towards Paula with the intention of eviscerating her. Unfortunately for them. She was a Typhoon of death and violence. Not caring about numbers or size, the sword did it’s work. Right after that, a few chasseur and the Spetnaz coordinated their movements and advanced on her, managing to shoot her down. She laid on the floor gravely injured.

Kowalsky tried to help, but the spetnaz turned around and forced her to retreat bleeding from a few dangerous wounds. At that moment, a second Spetnaz joined the battlefield from a different set of
vents and waited for the best change to advance towards the Alguaciles.

Uxia McNeill advanced then and crossed paths with the scared Tomcat who wanted to run away. As a reflex, the nomad fired his flamethrower at her, but Uxia emerged from the flames unscathed and like an angel of death shot down the paratrooper. She then found a jaguar and had an exchange that ended up with both of them gravely injured.

Nomads try to come back from the heavy blow:

Trying to solve the situation, the intruder Guerrero advanced towards the enemy. On his way tried to shoot the Devil Dog, but he failed every single shot. Instead of worrying, he kept moving while adjusting his weapon. Finally he reached a balcony where he could shoot at the ariadnans.

Unfortunately, his adjusted weapon was precise again but way slower. So he managed to shoot down the first spetnaz and two line kazak before he was wounded by the Antipode handler.
The rest of the troops lost then their fighting spirit and the terror took over. As much as Lyrian tried to inspire them, the constantly failing weapons and the danger in front were too much to take.

The effective Double Tap:

A camouflaged Zenit-7 who had been waiting patiently marched then over the alguaciles and managed to shoot down the nomad sniper amongst them, opening the perfect path for the second Spetnaz to take the nest where the rest of them were by storm, managing to shoot down Lt. Cheamish in the process.

Weakened as they were, the two Wildcats could barely react when the Devil dog and the Antipode fell on them. They fired their flamethrowers at both, but even though they managed to burn the Antipode, the Devil dog just walked through the fire like nothing happened and killed both of them with his knife. This helped him secure a very strong position near a beacon containing vital information for the nomad nation.

Last Round and Aftermath:

With all their might, Antonio the Jaguar and Lankenua the moran tried to bring down the Devil dog, but he effortlessly walked away with the beacon after taking a stab from the jaguar. The ariadnan troops did then take the are and forced the few surviving nomads to take their injured and retreat. Would this crew ever recover from the psychological scarring they received during the battle?

And that would be the game, in the end Ariadnans won with 3 points (holding the enemy beacon plus their own beacon being safe) against the 1 point the nomads got from completing the classified objective.
