THEATER OF WAR

The footage that I manage to recover from some drone cams sent into a special mission with SP forces of Aleph have taught me the truth in this words…

"Only the dead have seen the end of war" – Plato

Jane Doe here, still breathing, still recording... Sorry for the thoughtful beginning, maybe my extended stay on the front is rubbing on me too hard, too often. The violence, its scale that I have seen on the las few days is astonishing but nothing as shocking of what I managed to see, recover and reintegrate of a battle on one compound near the Rail Cannons at Raveneye. First of all, thanks to those that have managed to comment on some of these “leaked” reports, they are a great help to remember that there are places out there were hate and self-upbringing are not the essence of humanity. Well… Enough sentimental garbage let’s get to work…
Steel Phalanx detachments have been sent to the space station in small numbers, over requests of other factions, to aid, investigate, damper or who knows what. Usually against other faction of the Human sphere… At this rate when Aleph receives honest calls of aid against the CA without a drip of malice against our fellow species probably it will be too late but what do I know… This time was no different and a bloody battle could be felt on the horizon… for those still defending themselves with humor I say to you this was a classic, Aleph vs Nomads.

Deployed Myrmidons lead by Phoenix waiting for orders
Steel phalanx Fireteam getting ready to push

ACT 01

At the start, the calm was notable as SP forces tried to just get in and get out. They advance with precision and avoiding confrontation with the cold steel glares and inhuman flawless movements that soldiers are used to see form these troopers. Upon reaching the investigation site it was clear that this was just a rouse as Corregidor troops were hiding not far behind almost perfectly.

Nomad stealth has one flaw, and a big one. Teucer managed to get a glimpse of a Nomad TAG trying to hide and when they crossed sights the TAG stated to aim. Teucer seek for cover of a previously placed smoke and shoot back. And that was the starting note of the gory melody of war once again singing and demanding its toll on souls.

The explosion from Teucer Feuerbach indicated all the Greek Heroes that the fight was on, so they made a security circle around the primary objective area and braced for impact. Nomad forces startled a bit before attacking but eventually shoots started flying all over the place. The phalanx endured and keep the gained territory but it was clear that it was going to be a hard climb that would require great sacrifice, and every phalanx soldier agreed to it. To kill one must be ready to die and so the first casualty was Teucer who couldn’t stand taking down for a second time the enemy TAG. Meanwhile Myrmidons using their idyllic designed bodies where dodging bullets with Hermes swiftness, while holding enemy trooper at close combat with Ares Courage.

Phoenix following up advancing to push the right flank
Machaon leading the assault, successfully securing the main objective

ACT 02

Aleph Greek forces stood tall in their defensive positions, focused on the task they were given. Knowing time was short and a probable future bleak, especially with nomads who are used to mutilate, and disrespect their bodies like no other on the human sphere, they began to reduce the enemy damage output with the minimum loss of human lives possible. Myrmidons lead by Phoenix advanced and took down the enemy remotes first. The keen eye of the old Myrmidon spotted a building where he could watch the rearguard of his fellow soldiers while keeping an eye on a flank and so he moved on and establish security. Meanwhile Machaon saw Scylla pinned down by at least three nomad aggressors and decided to provide cover, so while risking his fellow Troopers the least he could, he gave orders to hold their position, knowing those simple word would endure on the Myrmidon loyalty core until the very end and moved to establish some eclipse smoke. Like a perfect symphony Scylla moved accordingly and manage to advance into the front and harass the enemy remotes, tags and hackers approaching.

For a couple of moments, the place was calm, even peaceful, time felt static. Wherever anyone turned his or her view a wall of white and blue smoke fills your vision like a daydream. That when a fountain of scarlet red and gray goo punched everyone back to the shithole we called today. Shit... Those dam feelings are dripping again. Well, what happened is that Scylla managed to make the enemy hacker head just pop up like those ancient balloons one can recognize from the old movies of the early 21st century on Earth. Finally, a red wave of Corregidor followers, pushed throwing fire and lead without guilt against the myrmidons lead by Machaon. One by one each SP Soldier that stood his ground died standing and only giving an inch of ground when their essence was no longer on the battlefield. The control of the primary objective was lost, with only Scylla and Machaon fighting back to back against the full force of the nomads like a classical Ode made into a cation Holovid poster.

Nomad Army on a standstill against a single Steel Phalanx Fireteam
Remaining Aleph troops holding their ground on the battlefield dead zone

ACT 03

The available time frame before this skirmish evolved into a full battlefield was closing but the Greek champions, would not simply give up, it’s not on their code… they will come back “with their shield or on it” nothing more nothing less. Overall the situation was dire and so the remaining steel phalanx force made a final attempt, a third assault in seek of their deserved glory or a glorious death.

The Myrmidons lead by Phoenix seek to advance and break the advancing Nomad assault, thing they did, finishing the enemy TAGS, a Gator and a Gecko… Between us those Nomads have something going on with reptiles, and the images that come to mind are disturbing... Nervermind. Those kills didn’t come cheap, more myrmidons fall and resources where getting thin. At the end only Machaon was standing, wounded, and practically unconscious in hand to hand combat on no man’s land while a Myrmidon officer close by run and dogged hails of firepower to no let her leader die alone.

It was too late, when the Myrmidon officer arrived, Machaon was already dead, Scylla unconscious and Nomads where inside cheering and humiliating their dead comrade’s corpses. This was the first time when I saw an Aleph trooper on a battlefield not being those cold and spineless soldiers, but actually exuding feelings, on this instance emotion of suffering and hatred. She shoots trying to take as many as she could, and maybe take back control of the disputed building. One Corregidor soldier tried, and failed to escape from this officer possessed by Ares thirst for violence. At the same time the enemy Vostok, partially repaired and heavily damaged shoot and managed to take down the last Myrmidon.
That’s it, that’s how this nonsense unfolded. At the end half of the “survivors” where an actual machine. Hope you find it amusing, maybe even worthy or at least help you get a more real perception of what is going on over here… Jane Doe, Out.

Final Notes

The winner of this game decided where the reports would be uploaded because of the short time available to play more than one game by both commanders.

This prearrangement worked like this:
- When both commanders’ managed to set a schedule and the game was confirmed we would communicate what mission (this included the place where to upload the report) each player want to battle. From those two possible missions one would be the one played, this with at least 24 to 72 hrs before the game. Once we played there is a 50% chance that the winner and the mission played would be the accurate one played. If the winner was the commander that wanted the other mission (location), the one that was not played, we would upload it on the desired location using the “custom mission” option on the battle reports.

PS: maybe this was what make me write some of that sentimental crap on the report....
