The battle was engaged. A late arrival meant little action so far, but it was to be a baptism by fire. Fire and disease.

The engagement was set and we recieved reports of Shasvastii in the area, doubtless striving to vacate as we were. We were to take no chances and kill as we guarded our own. There was a narrow alley up one flank, but that was to be ingnored. All the firepower would hit straight up the gut. We would fix this with bullets.
When we did catch sight of the Shas, it was odd. They were keeping their distance, and weren’t exhibiting the behaviours we’d come to expect. Regardless, we’d have time to ponder later – the plage waited for no one.

Turn 1 – Mendoza went to show off by racing out in front – shooting a Taiga and trying to tag extra hostiles on the way. He missed spectacularily – with 3 separate magazines, allowing a it to close the gap. Mr. NCO decided that his link with a spitfire could do much better, and they needed to get on the move. I don’t know what was in the water, but the taiga continued to evade even Mr. NCO until it was too dangerous to attempt any more. Drawing first blood was a well placed (double crit) onto a Jayth – freeing the middle lane further. Breaking out of the link to sacrifice for the team, Mr. Teuton fired his shotgun – and missed. Tried AGAIN and finally put a wound on the Taiga (7th order in!), The link then assumed positions to lock down the enemy advance, Mendosa put himself into supprisive fire. The accompanying robotics and glorious WarCor were all devoured to the plague – regardless of any extra gear they were promised would protect them….
The counter punch was very soft, the aliens choosing to prioritize the plague over bullets. They all jumped into a well-placed building and fortified the ever-loving everything out of it! Poor Raveneye was devoured by a Caliban, who was isolated in response.

Turn 2:
Everything out of sight, hackers securing a building, we pressed on. Mr. NCO pointing interestingly at their HVT as he was told to. Then murduring the helpless taiga that had caused so much grief. Seeing an opportunity to shine, Mrs. Lazarus approached out of LoF to a shrouded hacker locking Mendoza down. A hail of bullets later, and it poofed, but left a suspiciously blinking pile where he used to be. Mendoza was begging to throw grenades into the tightly packed building, but was constantly reminded that grenades couldn’t enter sealed buildings. He kept demanding that we “open our eyes, and the way for the grenades”. Mr. Bulletteer got into a fight with supercharged Calban in an effort to strip power-up, but was only able to secure 1 wound across 2 clips. Harris co-ordination didn’t seem to help much. Ultimately, Mendoza stood still yelling about his holy hand grenades as he was too terrified to move, 2 hackers still daring him to twitch – he didn’t.
The counter was slow. More scary beeping things were placed, The Caliban went Bulletteer hunting giving Mendoza the motivation to dodge out of hacking range. The Caliban *survived* 2 heavy shotgun and double HRL incoming – but lost the fight with the plague… on MY SIDE of the field!

Turn 3 – Little to do but rub salt in the wound, or so I thought. Bob had run out waving his hands begging us to spare the innocents. We know who’s innocent, and Bob got gunned down. Mecilessly. We knew that the building needed to be breached, so off goes Mr. Coajutor to do pioneering things. We heard big BANGS and things screaming inside. Importantly, he opened the door. When he did, a clever Nox had primed his zapper to do maximum annoyance. So it did and isolated the pioneer and bricked Mr. NCO. Good thing Mendoza could now go to work. With flaming grenades and crazy multi bullets, put down the last 2 relevant intruders.

Oddly close score for the tide of battle. 7-6 for me. I forgot to complete a classified, he had all 3. I had him ground down on kills, and I survived with a bunch
