“I am in position.” The Hulang crept towards the Armoury, readying his light flamethrower on his left hand. Shi Long gazed at the heavily armoured door through his helmet. Looking to the side, he looked at the panel that rested by it, red light blinking to show it’s locked.
His right hand twitched and flickered and within seconds, the panel light turned green.
“Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. As what the Ariadnans would say.” Shi Long chuckled to himself. “I’m in, Lieutenant.”
While the Hulang was opening the metallic door, the Shang Ji team moved in. “2 hostiles detected atop the buildings, rocket launchers in hand.” Shi Long commed over.
“Roger.” A clean simple sentence commed back before a loud woosh of a rocket launcher echoed and a loud explosion came after. Before long, another rocket round flew towards the building.
“Sector clear!” The Shang Ji team commed again.
Shi Long dove into the armoury and went through the relics and research from Pan Oceania. The Shang Ji team too, came in tactically to assist in rummaging for relics. Before long, the Shang Ji left the building to secure other areas.
However, once he was done rummaging through the crates, he could hear loud war cries coming from outside the building. The Hulang winced as his system jammed for a second and a loud beep echoed in his helmet.
He had trained for this as he resetted his mechanized suit and warded off the hacking from the Pan Oceanian knight.
As he turned back his gaze, Shi Long saw a woman knight with azure eyes and long golden hair striding in. It was Joan.
A pause came from Shi Long. Even though they were enemies, he has deep respect for her. Within seconds, the Shang Ji that was preparing to hack the building got sliced in two with a gorey explosion. Joan’s blade still clean even with that cut. The Hulang fired his flamethrower but the knights shrugged off the flames.
The Hulang drew his monofilament blade as Joan and a teutonic knight charged into combat with him after even with their tunic still in flames. “Oh shit!” Shi Long thought. The knight roared a challenge and held his blade high. The same with Joan as they prepared their killing blow.
Just then, a hail of Chain Colt bullets fired across the room. A Shang Ji with Tai Sheng levelled their rifle on Joan and the knight and remained firing.
Joan was caught in a surprise and she tried to dodge the hailstorm of bullets. But as much as she tried, the advanced optics of the Shang Ji, and the experience of Tai Sheng prevailed and the bullets pierced through her armour.
The knight fared better as he avoided the shots but he was caught unguarded.
The Hulang prepared his blade and sliced across the knight’s chest. Even with the surprise attack, the knight’s skill proved great as he parried the Hulang’s sword. The two had a clash of swords before the Hulang drove his monofilament sword right in into the soft parts of the knight’s armour and sliced it cleanly up through the neck.
As Joan retreated, bloodied and heavily injured, another knight was slaughtered by the Hulang.
“We’ve gotten what we need.” Shi Long said. “Permission to extract.”
He looked over at Tai Sheng and gave her a casual salute and a slight head nod for saving his life.
The team evacuated the area with new spoils and infotech for the upcoming battles with the real enemy ahead.
