[CAP.GRADIUS] Our goals are dictated by the Uberhose. In application of the decree stipulating the establishment of the international defense force of Concilium, panoceania must open the doors of Cameliard to us. My mission is to set up a team of observers there. You are here to conduct this inspection. You will be escorted by a small team from the Athena and Aegis office throughout the installation tour. They will liaise with the forces on site and, if necessary, your safety. Officer questions?

[OFF. VERARA LIAISONS] What should I look for Mrs.?

[CAP.GRADIUS] All violations of the Concilium Treaty at first, but especially elements that Panoceania would like to keep for itself, in particular alien artifacts. Old habits die hard.

Ground control // CAMELIARD

[CRT. FALQUEZ] Diplomatic shuttle from Manifest Destiny, your flight plan is validated and in accordance with the briefing. You will be directed to landing pad 24.

[PIL. HERNANDEZ] Flight plan received ground control. My sensors spot a large number of signals on the ground, any problems?

[CRT. FALQUEZ] Yu Jing sabotage teams are still present on the site. But the 24 platform is safe. Wait for your escort on site and everything will be fine.

[OFF.SAA HYPPOLITA] Don't worry ground control, we'll wait for the escort at the platform. And if necessary we will know how to defend ourselves.

This game takes place on the panoceanian base of Camilliard. It is a bit special because in 150pts (it's actually an initiation game, but my opponent wanted to integrate it into the campaign). So we're playing on a smaller table, with the armory in the middle. I produced a list axed around protecting my HVT, with support hackers and drones, as well as a journalist to document all the things panoceania might hide... Two assault pieces complete the whole thing: Hyppolita and a KHD raptor (ok not super nice as an initiation troop...).

Cameliard // Landing platform 24

[OFF. VERARA LIAISONS] How long will we have to wait for our escort?
[OFF.SAA HYPPOLITA] The operator didn't specify, but he shouldn't delay, anyway... What? COVERED !

[SOUND OF EXPLOSION]

[OFF.SAA HYPPOLITA] RETURN TO THE SHUTTLE, ESCORT IN DEFENSIVE POSITION! The shuttle is too exposed, it is necessary to reach a safe shelter, now!

My opponant win the Lt roll (it's an ambush after all) and choose to play second. I take deploiment and he deploy first. On the table we have a camo token, 4 Kuang shi, 1 monk and an HMG Hsien.

I deploy my troop around my HVT, with Hyppolita, Raptor in the center, and Warcor and support troop on the backyard. It's time to save the day, and secure the path of the officier Verara.

O12 : First turn

My opponent use command token to delete 2 of my regular orders. I activate my Raptor boarding squad, open the armory, and take position of the place. With the Raptor I take opposition to kill a Kuangshi, but I miss the monk, who dodge behind a smoke grenade... Last order I use Cybermask to defend my troop.

So I'm in the place, and my opponent didn't like it. His Shaolin monk smoke the entrance of the armory. The his Hsien go out his cover. But, surprise ! It's not an Hsien but a Kanren minelayer.

He drop a Mad trap in the middle of the room and take position to covert the entrance. The monk qo into the armory and contact a panoply. Well my Raptor is not in good situation... but for the moment he "hold" the armory, so I score 2.

O12 : Second turn

[SGT.WILLIAMS] We have etablish contact with Tango. They are hostile and drop defensives mines in the area. Need backup !

[SSA HYPPOLITA] Copy Williams, hold on, we send the drone !

So I need to clear the room before activate my Raptor (I have no medic or engineer...). The Dakini Tactbot move to have a visual on the Madtrap and the Kanren. He avoid the reactive shoot and destroy the cutest mechanical goat in the human sphere. Then he move on the left flank to take a shoot againts two Kuang shi. He try a grenade lauch, but he missed, and the Kuang shi move to him. Then he goes in suppresive to covert the flank.

Now my Raptor activate him, the Devabot go outside the armory and make a Heavy flamethrower shoot in the Kanren and the Celestial gard. The monk shoot with his chain rifle to the Raptor and the bot, but die in the couterfire of the raptor. My raptor fail is armor roll (argh) and the devabot too... The Kanren dodge the fire, but not the celestial gard, who disapear into smoke. With his order, the warcor move to take better point of view about the situation.

Yu Jing : second turn

The Yu Jing ambush didn't work so well, but the jade empire have other tricks in his hand ! Furst The Kuang shi on the two flank move foward to prepair the final assault.

The one in front of the Devabot engage him with his Chain rifle, but the Devabot save the armor (dmg 14, roll a 15). And in response hit the Kuang shi. With his dogged Kuang shi, he take another turn, but here again the Dakini save (roll 20, that is insane). But he didn't hit the Kuang shi with his 3 dices... One last time, same result, Dakini save, and Kuang she still alive.

My opponent try an other strategie, and a mimetic -6 token appears on board ! He move with it to go into the armory, but fail is dodge and finish in the front of the armory door... I'm still the only one in the Armory, I score 2 more point.

O12 : Last turn

[SGT.WILLIAMS] We have a real problem here, mimetic Tango just outside, and I lost my close protection.

[SSA HYPPOLITA] Hold on William, I reach you right now ! Off. Verara, stay hidden, I come back soon !

Last turn, full order. I need to kill the Hac Tao, and Hyppolita is my best tool. She run in the left flank, hit and kill the other Kuang shi. The she use his eclipse grenade to go throw the ARO of my opponent.

With his two remaining order she engage en kill the Hac Tao, and blocks the entrance. With the Lt order, the raptor go to a panoply and take a DA CC weapon (usefull...). My opponant have 3 orders left, but his resolution his still intact.

Yu Jing last turn.

He activate the Kanren and try to hit Hyppolita with his combi rifle. But his martial skill allow her do dodge in the room, hidden behind a wall. The his camo token move into the armory, and take a last firefight. One shoot against the Raptor, two for Hyppolita.

The scream of the gun and finaly only remain, wounded but alive, the Raptor. Hyppolita take a wound and fall incounscious, and the Guilang take a fatal shoot by the Raptor. End of the game, I hold the armory, and take a panoply. 5 more points.

The escort team succeeded in protecting officer verara, at the cost of serious injuries to the team members. The discovery part went well, and the atmosphere was super pleasant. A little scruffy dice rolls, especially for my opponent. But looking forward to playing again (probably in phase two by the way!)

Sergeant William turned as he heard the screeching of tires outside.

[LT ANGELIN]Deploy in defensive formation! Liaison officer Verara? Lt Angelin, 3 fusilier Regiment, we are your escort. What is your status?!

[OFF. VERARA] I have injuries in my team, but I'm fine.

[LT ANGELIN] Great. We'll escort you back to the base, come with us, the place isn't secure. One unit remains to secure your team and provide assistance.

[LT ANGELIN]Yu Jing sabotage teams, they're everywhere, we're having a hard time tracking them down, they're using optical devices that...

[Explosion noise]

What? Ambush, stay in the vehicle Mrs., you are safe until you get out. Djanson on the left, WATCH OUT !!

In a ball of flame, Officer Verara's vehicle was thrown into the air and she lost consciousness.

She regained consciousness pulled by the dakini of the escort unit. This one raised his head and wanted to grab his weapon. It was destroyed before by an invisible threat and everything went dark again.
