Its been a bad few months to be a member of Bayadsy’s cursed squadron. His unit was formed recently to responds to the rising threat of the Combined Army, but their relative inexperience and poor luck has followed the unit from theater to theater. Since the redoubled assault by the Morat Aggression Force on Helheim, squad 42 has lost more of Haqqislam’s faithful than any of their sister units in the Ramah Taskforce, Derided by the others as the “Unlucky 42nd.” Taha Bayadsy’s squad was redeployed to Concilium to train fresh recruits under the instruction of O-12 peacekeepers.

Then the war followed them.
Since then, the squad has been attempting to fight off a mix of alien invaders and opportunistic vultures who dare assault the laboratories of the faithful. Mostly unsuccessful.

•°○°• Day 5 – Perimeter Breached. •°○°•

Perimeter sensors scream as Ariadnan special forces try to infiltrate the protected zone outside Alfutna labs. The Yu Jing commercial enclave outside of Alfutna is a popular location for researcher brunches, and it was there that the Ariadnans decided to strike. Squad 42 moved to intercept and save the scientists.

Squad 42 raced to the scene. A team of Ghulam lead by Lieutenant Ali and his advisor Nadiyya, a Zhayedan with Missile Launcher, moved to defend the right flank. Behind them a Khawarij with Mk12 was poised to run up the flank and rescue. The left flank was secured by the Namurr and her squad of Mukhtars. Mercenaries including Carmen and a Monstrucker were brought along to support the main force, as well as Fanous observers. A Nahab waited in the wings for an opening to jump down. Atop a nearby tea shop, a Warcor was brought along to record the Ariadnan’s crimes.

The Ariadnans were fast to engage, with the dreaded mercenary Knauf assassinating the poor journalist as his first action. Motorcyclists raced up the flanks, dropping smoke to obscure their approach. The scrap metal behemoth, known to our observers as the “Chernobog”, exchanged fire with a Mukhtar Red Fury, injuring it as it ducked for cover. With its target wounded and in hiding, The machine then lurched over to the other flank to exchange fire with the Khawarij. The Mk12 finds purchase and strikes the Chernobog, causing it to leak hydraulic fluid across the pavement, but the pilot readjusts their position and kills the Khawarij. With the defensive threat down, a Bearpode races down the right alley, dodging missiles and rifle fire as it pursues the Ghulam team. Despite taking multiple bursts of fire, the creature is able to kill Nadiyya and her entire team before going down. Within moments of the engagement starting, the RTF were left leaderless. The Monstrucker fails to dodge multiple times, ignoring the beast behind him and dooming the Lieutenant. Knauf realizes he can finish off the injured Mukhtar and does so.

The RTF’s own actions were neither swift nor graceful. With the Lieutenant dead, and most attack pieces dead, coordination failed. Carmen raced ahead only to be killed by Knauf, her bike skidding across the asphalt. Bâtard was left sad and alone. The Namurr used her tactical awareness to move up to a central position to protect the researchers. She then broke the link to leave the Mukhtar behind so she could guard another flank from the approaching bikers. The fanous deployed outwards in an attempt to prevent the Ariadnans from advancing and kidnapping any HVTs. The Monstrucker exchanged shots with Brigadier Bruant, but neither came out on top. Without any orders to work with, the Nahab killer Hacker stayed on her dropship.

The Ariadnans surge forward, intent on drawing blood. Maverick bikers race ahead to clean up the few survivors. One injured the Namurr with his assault pistol, only to eat a breaker round in return. he continued down a wall to flank the Namurr, shooting her in the back before the Mukhtar doctor can down him. The Unknown Ranger moved up to finish off the Mukhtar Doctor and Monstrucker. After killing the monstrucker, he grabbed a scientist who was eating his lunch obliviously. The despicable Knauf once again reveals himself shooting the Fanous who moved out to guard the scientists. All of Ramah Taskforce was dead except a single remote, and so they left in shame. Batard, leaderless, wandered away into the jungle outside town.

The Nahab never left her plane, watching YouTube painting tutorials on the lonely flight back to base.

The utter annihilation of the Ramah Taskforce was so great that the Ariadnans didn’t have time to capture the scientists. Only poor Dr. Taranov was stolen from his drunken noodles by the Unknown Ranger, while the rest of the staff escaped during the chaos unscathed. Small victories, I guess.
