Damn, why do I always have to write these Aleph-spawned reports?

–This is Commander Breadsmith of the NMF unit “Tactical Supremacy”.
While on Escort duty to the three “superhackers” (Mary Problems, Jazz, and Zoe), we intercepted some comms from a supposed 0-12 agent, “Fred”, coming from the Port Battery Fire Control. Seeing as those misguided fools have been sucking on Aleph’s teats extra hard of late, we decided to investigate before the idiot spaced us all.
As we arrived on the scene and made visual with “Fred”, we discovered a force of Shastavasti trying to sneak in to capture one of our Beacons. What ensues is a brief overview of what occurred. My apologies for the lack of quality visuals.

-CA wins initiative, chooses to go first.

They deployed several dogs, Taigas? on our Port side, with another dog and a team of Jayths on the starboard. Near a second Beacon, was a Fireteam of Nox troopers, including a Sniper and HMG. Among these troops was someone who strongly resembled Aida Swanson. And near our line was “Fred”.

We deployed in a small commercial section of the Fire Control Sector. Our Vertigo, Salyut and Moderator Julien took up positions on the starboard gantry, while our resident Puppetmaster and SIN EATER!!!! took the Port. “The Holy Trinity of Hacking” (really?) deployed in cover near the center, flanked by our Morlocks, Murderous Al and Doctah Orbius. Billy hid behind our Beacon, while Pi-Well provided overwatch duty. Our Lieutenant Kriza Borac positioned himself near “Fred” to see what was going on.

Initial Engagement:
The dogs rushed forward, ready to taste the blood of free men. SIN EATER!!! managed to kill two of the beasts straight out. The other two surged forward, coming dangerously close to our lines. The Jayth team, taking no time with the sublety the se xenos are known for, killed Orbius before he could even utter his catchphrase. As they moved up the side, they also managed to get a lucky shot on Pi-Well and the robotic warrior took a nap. They advanced to the midfield then tried fiddling with some comms gear.

Al, seeing his buddy die, rushed forward for revenge, dropping some smoke and moving on one of the dogs.. While the Jayths were doing their thing, Mary somehow hacked into one of the dogs and scanned it for useful data. As soon as this was done, Kriza sprang into action. In short order he and the Morlock had neutralized the remaining canine threat, but had been unable to make a mark on the Jayths themselves, even taking a stray shot himself. So Moderator Julien decided to be a hero. He bravely stood from behind the wall, and oblivious to the Nox and Jaythe Fireteams, coolly launched a pitcher near the Jaythe. Posthumus it may be, but that man deserves some kind of commendation. His sacrifice saved countless lives. Within seconds of the device landing, our hackers had lit up the xeno warriors and the Vertigo splattered two of them. While all of this was going on, the Salyut began calling in support from our Wildcat and Meteor.

“Fred’s Dead”
Despite the rest of his team dead, the remaining Jaythe moved through the central building, dangerously close to “Fred”. He activated the device, which in some way may have undermined the local network. This is when “Fred” revealed himself to be a Shasta imposter! He lay some smoke down for the Jaythe, who tried to rush the Beacon. He made it to the objective, but Billy was able to put up just enough of a fight to stop him from stealing it’s contents.

Al, drunk on revenge, rushed the Nox, only to catch a stray bullet. In response, The Kriza Borac unloaded several clips into the Jaythe , then likewise into the Speculo. Fred died instantly when several SMG bullets entered his skull. So much for that 0-12 training. Hearing the call from out Salyut, the Hellcat and Meteor dropped in, behind our lines. That damned Jaythe’s undermining caused us to miscalculate the low-g into our calculations. Seeing no resistance beyond the Nox, Kriza, Jazz, Mary and the Meteor moved up behind the cover of the landing pad. The Kriza tried to bait out a “mine”, but it turned out to be a “Seed Solider”, and he ducked back out of fire.

“Dancing in the Rain”

Seeing our forces moving into the shadow of the Nox, the aliens launched one desperate attempt. A Cadmus Hacker landed neatly behind our lines, ready to take out our backend and take the Beacon. Sadly for him, he landed in range of the Hellcat, who saw through the decoy lander and blew the Cadmus away. With their forces decimated, the Shasvasti dug in and prepared to stop us with all they had.

Our Meteor dashed forward, hoping to end the Seed Solider, but despite the bullets flying, neither managed to hit each other. Jazz moved up, launched another pitcher in the shadow of the Nox building. You know how that song and dance goes. tktktk, Boom, HMG and Paramedic Nox dead.
What happened next is a feat I thought impossible. The Kriza dashed out, straight past the Seed Solider. And under fire from Aida, the Seed Solider and a Nox, as well as a mine or two, he dodged, weaved and whirled towards the enemy beacon, securing it from their meddling. Utilizing the natural low-g atmosphere, he moved like a hummingbird on speed. Having seen this man seemingly phase through bullets in that armor, the aliens quickly retreated, leaving us to hold the field.

R.I.P. Moderator Julien, you will be missed.
And commiserations to whoever has to clean Orbius off the floor.

Breadsmith out.
